Hello, Opted to join this forum (again), I last was here as a techie - now a School Business Manager. However, know you'll all welcome me & the support on here far outweighs that of direct support from Capita (in my view). Certainly for out of hours! I have a student on a maths resit course, however in the courses panel there is no "School Census Activity" listed for the course. I am after some guidance on where in SIMs I need to enter it, I assume this needs to link to maths to ensure the Condition of Funding is met. Many thanks in advance, Andrew

Hello, one and all! My apologies if this has been asked or answered before, I couldn't find it anywhere on here.I'm an IT apprentice at a PRU in Nottingham, and I co-manage SIMS with my line manager. A little while ago, I was asked to sort out the current working out grades on SIMS. My only two problems are thus: I am using Hosted SIMS, which is just a royal pain in the richard, and everywhere I've looked has mentioned a separate SIMS assessment program, which neither myself or my line manager have heard of or used. Any advice or pointers on how to get this sorted?

Hope someone can help me out as I'm hitting brick wall and it doesn't help my powershell knowledge is vary limited; I'm looking to import a list of users to multiple teams, idealy from CSV file (2 sperate list either one CSV or 2 CSV), but I'm getting few issues; I can't tell the script to read the two lists seperatly (either from 1 CSV File or 2 CSV files), it reads each row as a single line Only ways I can get it working is either add list of users one team at a time by editing the line to specifically state what group ID or using visual basic input box prompting the user to enter in username and then adding that user to list of teams (not bad for one offs etc.) I thought about using a double for each (nesting I think it's called?) but that doesn't work as stated above it reads the row data as a single line, or i can't figure out how tell the script; for this group add the list of users, next group and add the list of users etc. sorry if my explination is confusing, mix of tired and dylexia.

Dear All, I have students choosing their GCSE options via a Google Form which then populates their options in a google sheet. I then break down the choices into each separate subject sheets. What I want to do is create an automatic list i.e. when somebody chooses art then their name is populated in the art sheet. I hope this makes sense. Is there a formula that can help with this? Hello, Just recently we have upgraded our Impero to V8.5.92 and since this we have had issues whenever we take over a computer where the mouse stops working, now it isnt much of an issue where the laptops are concerned due to us being able to use a USB mouse to reinstall the driver and fix it however we do not have much luck when it comes to our staff who all have Surface Go 2 where there is no USB input. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue with impero and what have they done to solve it, do we just wait until a new version which patches this bug comes out? Thanks in advance BL

is there a way I can allow user's to Sync SharePoint Site Document Libraries, but not allow them to keep files on this device? we have some users that mistakenly click keep files on this device for entire document libraries of 300k files+ any help appreciated. -

We have a mac system that intergrates with our Domain controller in a sence that it uses the logon credentials for students to access the macs and thats all it should do. However it keeps mounting their H Drive which is there persona area and then seems to fill it up with program settings etc. Given the students only have 250mb is there a way of stopping it or blocking the macs mounting the drives. Thanks

Anyone have problems downloading ths ios 7.1.1 upadate in apple configurator. I am trying to prep some ipads via configurator but it keeps failing on the ios 7.1.1 update and as these are supervised devices I cannot turn the auto update off in configurator/ Any help/advice Stuart

Is it possiable to turn off the requirement to have a passcode on ipads ios7 I have configured ipads in mdm and final got it send apps out to devices with help from guides on here but the passcode could be a problem. I do not have passcode payloads configured but I still getting asked to set passcode. Thanks Stuart

Hi, We have setup a radius server on Windows 2008 r2 and smoothwall express 3.0 we want to use radius auth on smooth wall and so set that up. How ever when we try and go thru smoothwall it challenges us for the username and password as it is meant to do but then it keeps on challenging us time and time again and then denies access to smoothwall. It as if the user name and password are in correct, however when we set up a radius test on our ruckus controller(it has a radius test feature) it works. Is there something we are missing to do? Is smoothwall express and win2008r2 not happy together? Do we need to MOD smoothwall in another way? Thanks in advance Stuart

At my school, this girl got youtube banned with dans-guardian by searching very offensive and inappropriate stuff on it, but i like to watch youtube during recess and lunch, and it helps me study, which is really helpful since i don't have a lot of time at home. If this is my proxy.pac, how do i unban youtube? Hi all, We are in the process of testing VDI In-A-Box, we have just gotten some test Thin Clients from 10Zig which are pretty nice (1 Linux, 1 WES). Since receiving them I have been trying to get Kiosk Mode working, I believe I have done the correct thing by enabling the template we want to use for the IP Address *? Everything I try I keep getting the Citrix VDI In-A-Box Client Java login window, is there any other setting that I have to change? We are running Version 5.0.2 of VDI In-A-Box. Thanks.

Can somebody help me create a form that gets the user name, and the last URL and sends it to an email? Both of these should be hidden though, so all you can see is the send/submit button. It can be coded in any format, and we use exchange if that helps? Thanks.

We are starting to use iris software behaviour managment and it is going well. Next we are about to roll out the rewards to pupils and this is what i want help with. We are going to get 6th formers to look after a rewards shop and what i need is this A simple to use and manage front end that will Allow the following 1) Display a Picture, Description, Stock Level and Rewards COst 2) A Way the managers can logon and add,update and delete stock. 3) If possable a form that when pupils click on add/select it adds to a list that is then email/printed to a shop manager email. It would be nice that when something selected it take from stock but not important. I was wondering if anyone had something like that running or know of a FREE project around that i can use. It can be in PHP/mysql I am running iis7.5 with mysql php also running Moodle. Any help would be gratfull Thanks Stuart

Hey I have been having a problem with the HP dc7900 smallform the unit powers up and after about 20 seconds the power supply and cpu fan spin up to 100% I have changed the ram, hdd and power supply with no success into fixing the problem any suggestions?

Hi everyone, I've been asking a few questions here recently, and about to ask another! Background is that I work with a small local IT support company and we've recently taken over a small business (5 employees). Their servers are running Server 2008 Standard (3x Servers). They have 1 domain controller with just AD, DHCP and DNS installed, the second is the "admin" server i.e home drives, sophos and printers etc go there along with terminal services (remoteapp). Last is a web host which hosts the "/tsweb" page and acts as the gateway and broker for the session connections. Currently, on their firewall they have port 443 and 3391 open which goes to the TS Gateway. The firewall is Sophos UTM and they have all networks allowed, apart from Korea, China and a few others (13 in total I think). My main concern is that this server isn't in the DMZ, however they get virtually no traffic and it only goes to the login page which required AD auth so how big of an issue is it leaving it out of the DMZ? The servers are virtual and Sophos runs inside of a VM on an HP DL380 G5. Their backups go to a NAS which is in another part of the office. I want to get this offsite eventually however works well for them currently. The AD side of things is done very well currently, with no scheduled tasks going via "Administrator" and about 25 security groups. I'm just after some general advice on how to protect the network better. They are looking to expand their main office and have some members of the public coming in whilst sitting in reception. They have UniFi for wireless and standard layer 2 switches with 2 vlans on (2 and 3) - 2 is the main network vlan and 3 is one that was going to be for the guest wireless but never configured. If you could give me some advice with going forward in regards to the overall setup that'd be great. We are going to upgrade to Server 2016 eventually however would like to get security sorted first. Hi, I work in a school and just last year we purchased MinecraftEDU for the students. Before the previous technician worked here he set up MinecraftEDU on private Minecraft user accounts. Unfortunately we have moved it from our admin server which contains all the students and staff data to a dedicated server I have set up myself as we didn't want to be giving out the IP address of our main server. I allocated the computers a static IP and once everything was installed I tested the server on several machines. This is where everything started to get frustrating, when I typed in the server IP I just get 'Can't connect to server' with a red X. This was all confusing as I have pinged the IP address which was successful so there I knew it was not an internet issue. We have a RM Network and Smoothwall filtering system, I'm not sure if the Smoothwall is blocking anything from running which is then preventing students connecting to the server. We are running MinecraftEDU 1.7.10 (I don't have the best knowledge on minecraft) If anyone has any ideas into why I am unable to connect to my server please please please help me as I want to get this back up and running for my students. Hello world, The Tech department have ordered a bunch of Chinese branded Ardunio boards (yay...). We've installed the Arduino agent which essentially does the 'handshake' between the board and editor. We're using the web editor version. When we plug the board in, the COM port is detected and am able to choose the right board (Arduino Uno). When we go to upload the script (one of the example scripts on the editor) it starts to upload but just gets stuck. I've contacted their support but they've been useless and their forums are just as good. Has anyone had any experience of these or know any URLs I could pass through our Smoothwall! Thanks x

Hey all, Long time reader, first time poster, please go easy... I've worked at my current school as one of 3 Techs for around 3 years now. We're making the move to Windows 10 on our Student network (we have two domains) and It's a massive job, but we're planning and planning and planning. Server Upgrade and Migration, 400 Workstation Redeployment to Win 10, GPO Reconfiguration etc all over the first week of the summer holidays. One thing we're stuck on is a new network management solution. Currently we use the vastly outdated but still super great Ranger Remote Control and LANRanger. Unfortunately they aren't compatible with Windows Server 2016 & Windows 10 1803 (and for some reason RRC stops our AV from updating its definition) so we need to move onto something else. I've been looking at all sorts of solutions, me and one other Tech went to BETT where we saw a great bunch, however it was all quite sales-y and we didn't get the most in-depth look at them. We've made a list of crucial and good-to-have points of what our current system gives us and I just can't find any one (or two) softwares that include it all. The exception is Impero, however we're a fairly rural public school and as such budget is tight... So far I've looked into Impero, NetSupport, Senso, ABTutor, GoverLAN, and LANSchool. Here's what we're looking for in our network management - - Remote Control + Workstation sorted into 'Room' categories - Control of room by room of Workstations - Disable Internet access per workstation on the fly - Teacher Access (Cross Domain or Internet Browser UI) - Restrict Maximum Logons Per User - Title Checks (Auto-Close window based on partial/full title match from list of words) - Run software/apps/scripts en masse per room on the fly - Scheduled Workstation Power Off - Workstation activity Logs (event logs) We use PDQ Deploy and Inventory so that covers a lot of deployment and Wake on LAN etc. We have a few iPads so it'd be a plus If it was cross OS, but not essential... Some Storage Quota control would be nice but push comes to shove we can control that through Windows Server. We're using GPO to lock down a lot of things, so really it's that list above that we just need to be able to manage... Sorry to pour all this on, there are just too many options and none of them seem to do everything we need! Will
