EduGeek launched in 2005 with the intention of providing a small forum based online community of IT professionals working within the UK educational sphere.
It was anticipated we would have just a few hundred members in total, and it be run as a hobby by founder Chris Byers.
This proved that some market research was probably required as we soon passed that in the first couple of months, and as of March 2025, EduGeek has over 114,000 members globally.

EduGeek’s aim is to help those working with technology in schools, colleges and universities wherever they should be. Our forums cover everything from helping those with technical problems to school ICT policies, purchasing, planning, product recommendations and many others relevant areas.

Now EduGeek helps almost 8 million educational technologists annually.

We also reach out to our members with our annual EDIT Conference, which we have been running since 2008 and has provided a space for leading edtech companies to inform our members about the latest trends in the educational and wider IT world.
We take great pride in ensuring that the event is made into a memorable day with it being held in places such as the National Space Centre, The National Armouries and the RAF Museum at Hendon.

EduGeek is wholly supported by sponsors and advertisers from the EdTech industry who get to engage with our members directly and support us with our events.

We also ensure that we treat our members personal information with respect and will never pass these on to third party companies or organisations.
