Afternoon all. Quick question if I may. Our schools have been using the MISSync tool to sync between ParentPay & SIMS for the last couple of years, but the way it has been set up seems a bit backward to me. None of the schools admin staff have the MISSync installed, instaed one of the IT Team decided it was best to install the tool on a server, and then not to let any of the school staff access it, insted, they have to log a call, and get a tech do it for them. To me, this is just a complete over reaction, or even an ego boost, why shouldn't the end user be capable of doing this? What happens when they log a call? Well, depending on how busy the main tech team are, it can be a couple of days before the sync is run. So my question is, do you let the schools admin staff manage their own sync's? If so, how many problems do you get with this? Obviously none of our school staff will have seen MISSync, so is it intuative for them? I just want to see the end user be able to run a sync when they need to, and not be beholdant on a tech team that doesn't need to be involved. I look forward to hearing your opinions. Thanks, Karl

Some of our Staff are unable to open Student Timetables from the Links side panel on a Student Profile SIMS instead loads the SIMS Next Gen Login page, a system we have not moved to yet. I have found a work around by loading timetables via reports drop-down but this is long winded compared to going from the profile. I know SIMS are trying to move to the cloud, but is there a way to change the default back to the local SIMS program for loading these documents until we are ready? Our school hosts our SIMS data locally with an on-site Server Build 23 Version 7.228 Windows 11 Education 24H2

(FMS is part of SIMS) Seems that our Finance team have been told that they must prepare to move to a cloud platform for FMS.. Our Finance didn't ask for this it was just told to them in an email. FMS6 will be restricted after 6th next month.. What ever that means. Then instructions on how we prepare our data to be uploaded to their cloud service. So now I'm immediately hostile to this process. I don't like strong arm tactics. It seems I was also unaware that "parentpay" purchased SIMS. I'm now writing a snooty email to the migration team about these demands.. Who will have access our cloud data? Is it encrypted? (not just the transport) Where is it stored, who will guarantee data integrity, backups and service up time? How will we be compensated when you lose control of the data in a possible data breach? Miffed in Dorset... EDIT: Seems alot of this was decided by DCC, so now to SAFSO...

Looking for advice on how to proceed: we have two students who taken an AQA course "PSHE: Respectful Relationships Including Friendships" and been awarded a Certificate - it's part of the Unit Award Scheme. Our SENCo would like me to add it to SIMS so that it is recorded as part of the students' achievement. Can anyone start me off on how to do this? As far as I can see there is no QAN associated with the course. Thanks.

Hi all We are still waiting for our eligibility keys for sims, so maybe this is a reason but today all our schools which have their own 2016 sql db hosted had slow (1-2 min load times) on sims. Anyone had anything occur today on their sims which might elude to a date bug of today maybe ? We haven’t applied the latest census patch as we don’t want to while we have no key. Thanks John

Hi all, A new member of staff is logging almost daily tickets saying that her homepage is not displaying her timetable in SIMS, her timetable is correct when viewing through Reports->Timetables->Staff but she is insistent that it displays on the homepage.. We have a new member of staff responsible for the timetabling and has been having issues getting everything sorted (handover from last staff member was less than helpful) and I am trying to help him out, I have skimmed through HFL document DMS387 but this didn't show anything obvious. Just wondering if any of you have any ideas around this? No complaints from any other members of staff but that's not to say they don't have the same issue. I noticed that in Classroom Staff Details she does not have a subject, organisation or working pattern.. but then neither do some other staff members (most have a working pattern though) Please let me know if you need any more info and I greatly appreciate any help you can provide! Take it easy, Adam

I am trying to change the room allocated to a locked session. Is there a way I can do this without unpicking the timetable? (Image attached)

Hiya. Has anyone encountered the below error when installing SQL - This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator.Error code: 1625 I am trying to install SQL 2019 to migrate our MIS system on to but it keeps failing. I am using a domain admin acc which fails BUT it does install on local admin acc! I have gone through our GP but i cant see anything that could be causing this issue. Any suggestions welcome, tearing my hair out! TIA

Hi I am sure this has been issue has been raised before but I can’t find any clear answer so….. I want to use Power BI to provide so specific dashboards from SIMs data. I know there are issues with getting the data out but initially I need to know: 1) what licences do I need as a creator? 2) what licences do the users need? 3) what are the cost implications of these licences? We have Office 365, not sure what version, but appear to have access to the Power BI app as part of the office suite but this seems to not allow sharing making it pretty pointless for what I want. The Microsoft website seems pretty opaque when it comes to pricing and what you might need to create and administer various data scenarios. My logic seems to lead me towards a premium/pro licence for the creator(s) and everyone else can use their free accounts to read the data but I have read conflicting reports that imply the readers need specific, paid for, licences as well. We have Sharepoint as a website and I have read that this can be used as a way of disseminating information but have not really investigated this fully. Any advice gratefully received as I don’t want to waste too much time and money on this if it is prohibitively expensive Thanks

Hello all Our reports are created in SIMS and are sent home through a mail merge (with the help of a number of tools such as A-PDF and Mail Merge Toolkit). It's a very detailed and long process so we are looking for alternative ways to get an electronic copy of the report home. We are happy with creating the report within SIMS. We don't have In Touch as we have other communication packages but may be open to purchasing it, although I imagine it would be very costly to use it just a few times a year. We have Class Charts but their reports facility is too basic at the moment. Any recommendations or advice appreciated. Thank you

Hi, I have been asked to change a class from TusP2-->Mon P3 in Nova-T6. I have very little knowledge of this (the guy who does the timetable has just gone on long term sick so I have stepped up). How can I do this please. I already know there are no issues with clashes, both the students and teacher are available both Mon P3. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I have just taken on some Attendance duties at my school and have been asked to gather some attendance data on a week by week basis. The previous attendance officer was doing it manually and, with my limited knowledge of reports, there simply must be a way to design a report for this and automate it. Here is what I need: % Attendance of this week for each student % Attendance UP TO this week for each student Is this possible? Appreciate your time

Looking for a technical person with some experience of schools MIS in particular SIMS but could also be Arbor or Bromcom. It is a Term Time only role so the salary is pro rata'd, up to £25800 but it is also Hybrid so only 2 days in these offices (Either Dorking, Milton Keynes OR Hammersmith), rest from home! The last person we placed into this role, came from an IT technical apprenticeship from a school, increased his overall salary and got the holidays off so he could concentrate on further studies It's service desk work supporting schools who buy into an MIS support contract You will log calls and emails, attempt to assist quickly or work with the team to mange the support call through to successful closure. You could also be working on improving your own knowledge of the technology, helping to deliver online training, working on new documentation and helping with upgrades. Let me know on the numbers below ;-)

I know everyone is knee deep in exams today but can anyone help with an admitting students issue?? We have admitted the new year 7 students ready for September but when I look at future students there are duplicates of the students with identical admission numbers! When I try to go into the records this error comes up crashing Sims!! Not been able to find the error code anywhere online! Any help greatly appreciated!!

(SIMS server) The various WONDE reports which run and are uploaded - does it create them as a csv and then upload them and if so where does it put them? I can't find any. We currently have an issue where our apps (eg seneca or GL-assessment or whatever) are not being updated. WONDE tell me the reports are running but they are being queued on our server for some reason ie not getting through. But I would at least like to see them, so where are they?

Hi There, I have two similar queries which I hope someone can assist with. I have completed the full timetable import into SIMS from Nova and I can see the timetables for the Teachers by selecting the date change to 4th September. However, why can I not see these on a date change to 4th September for the pupils timetables? Is it correct that the updated class codes groups will appear on the pupil records when the year begins or can these be visible now (August 2024) before Academic year begins? Thank you Tara_1

Hi, When creating an attendance report I want to filter many aspects by the same date range.. is there a way to have the user only enter one date to cover them all, rather than the same date in multiple box's on run? Thanks for your time.

Does anyone know how to get the reports to output an accurate minutes late, or even what the minutes late output is based on. Either attendance minutes late or lesson minutes late never show an accurate value for the whole year but I don’t know how to get that any other way? Please note I’m looking for actual minutes late not number of sessions late or anything like that and ideally I would like it as a summary or aggregate total across the date range selected. Thanks!

Hi, Just one teacher is getting the attached error occasionally which closes SIMS. This has only started occurring since the 7.200 update! Anyone have any idea what might be causing this intermittent error Thanks

Hi When transferring the timetable from Nova I'm getting this error that I've never seen before. Anyone have any ideas and/or solutions? Many thanks
