  1. I know everyone is knee deep in exams today but can anyone help with an admitting students issue?? We have admitted the new year 7 students ready for September but when I look at future students there are duplicates of the students with identical admission numbers! When I try to go into the records this error comes up crashing Sims!! Not been able to find the error code anywhere online! Any help greatly appreciated!!
  2. Afternoon all, I'm having an issue with class lists and registers and need help!! For our year 12 students we put them into 12 individual study lessons, which is timetabled as alternative curriculum. After Christmas (ie now) if their overall attendance has been good then we reduce it down to 6. The problem that I am having is that students who have had lessons removed are still appearing on registers and class lists! Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can remove them?!? Regards, jrma91
  3. Oh it's most definitely from the LA, it's from the same email address that I have corresponded with before about other things! And as for being out of date, that was what I said to my HT, when he said "but it's only £100!"
  4. As far as I am aware the only way to do this is manually. Create an aspect for Achievement and Behavior. Then create a marksheet for just these aspects and populate the data manually. Then put a read only aspect into each class marksheet for staff to be able to see. If anyone else knows a way I'd be interested too! Regards, jrma91
  5. I have just had This through from our LA.... We are again offering secondary schools the chance to obtain UPN and Contextual information for their September 2021 Year 7 intake. With no KS2 assessments taking place this year, the Excel file will contain UPNs and contextual data from the original admissions offers. As this may be slightly out of date we are also offering an updated file to include any pupils who have won appeals etc. The data fields in the contextual file are: UPN Surname Forename Middle Names DOB Gender Preferred Surname Former Surname Former UPN **Pupil Premium Deprivation Indicator for 2020-21 **Pupil Premium Service Child Indicator for 2020-21 **Pupil Premium Adopted from Care Indicator for 2020-21 **Pupil Premium Looked After Child Indicator for 2020-21 *FSM Eligibility January 2021 *Pupil First Language January 2021 *Ethnicity January 2021 *SEN Provision January 2021 *Primary SEN Need January 2021 *Secondary SEN Need January 2021 Current Primary School details The fields marked with a * are only available for pupils who attended a ***** primary school (not independent) at the time of the January 2021 School Census. The fields marked with a ** are only available for pupils who attended a ****** primary school (not independent) at the time of the January 2021 School Census. The are offering all of this information for £100! Almost everything on this would be provided by either the CTF from the primary school or from the parents when they complete the schools entry paperwork (or online version). Am I the only one that thinks that this is ridiculous, or am I just being a tight fisted scrooge? jrma91
  6. One of the issues that we have found has been user error, and it's usually one of 2 problems!! 1 They will click on the link, don't complete the registration fully (for whatever reason) and then when they go back to the link to try again it says that it has already been used. 2 They use the link from the email to get into SIMS Options after they have already registered. So we tell parents and students not to click on the link unless they are going to complete registration there and then as it is a one time access link. Another issue that we found, and this may just be our users is that they think that when they have registered is that they when they log into the system again that they have to use the SIMS Login screen rather than using whatever one they registered with! This can be confusing for our students as they have to select Google and use their school email address (our email is run through Google so all students have Google logins.) So make sure that they are clicking on the same account type that they registered with.
  7. Hi All, I am having an issue in course manager where when adding classes to the course, there classes are not showing up to be selected! I have unticked the "match by subject box" but the class is not showing! However if I go into another subject and look, the class is available! See pictures Any ideas or help would be grateful! Regards, Jrma91
  8. We do have a GDPR person, but they are just as unsure as the rest of us! In a normal circumstance we would post out lots of forms for the parents to complete, we would get the the address from local council, but we are looking to do it electronically using SIMS Parent. They are saying that because it is electronic that we don't have specified consent, but others are saying that because the parents know that any information that is used in the application process is passed onto schools, and that the parents would know this, otherwise how would the then receive an information pack in the post. I hope that my ramblings make sense?
  9. Hi All, Hoping that someone can help me here...We are looking to sign up new year 7 parents to the systems we use in school (SIMS Parent & Wisepay) ready for their start in September. We have been given initial data from our local council, (names, dob, email addresses etc) which were filled in as part of the application process. The question is can we use this information to setup the user accounts or will this be breaking GDPR rules as we are not the ones who have obtained this information, and would therefor be "giving" it to other companies. Regards, jrma91
  10. I have updated to Fileset 1006, and that has not cleared the error! Grr!!!
  11. Afternoon All, I keep getting the error 1992- Pupil has at least one learning aim which was active during the current year but there are no planned learning hours recorded for the current academic year. But these students have left the school between the start of the academic year and the census. I put them back on role and entered the Planned learning hours, then off rolled them again, but I am still getting the error code. Can anyone please help with this? Regards, jrma91
  12. The issue that we are having is that SLT and the data manager are saying that SIMS is all or nothing, and that we can't be expected to have individual breakdowns for every pupil. I know that SIMS can be adapted to do this, but the SIMS data manager doesn't won't to do the work or adding this extra tick box, or asking parents again for consent about forename/surname in photos. Is there anything in the new legislation that I can point them to to show that if the parent has ask/demanded this then they have to do it?
  13. Afternoon All, We are looking at a case what a parent has said that the school can publish the child's photo on the school website and on social media as long as their full name is not published. Can we refuse the parent and say that it is all or nothing. Ie They can allow their child's photo to be published, with the name. Or the child can not have their photo published at all? Any help of this would be helpful. Regards, jrma91
  14. Morning All, Does anybody know if old GCSE subjects, non legacy subjects, will count in this years P8 scores? The reason why I ask is that I have moved to a new school and the students take their RE exam at the end of year 10, which means that the first and only time that they took the exam was in the summer of 2017. So will this count towards our/their P8 score? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Regards, jrma91
  15. Afternoon All, We are currently using the old Options Module, (NOT the online one), does anybody know if it is possible to add students to the list, without putting them into SIMS first? I only ask as we are using the module for our year 12 options, and we have a number of potential students who could be attending the school, but I do not want to put them into SIMS first! And if this is not possible can I add the students into Admissions, then import them that way?? Regards, jrma91
