Finally had some success with this today. Now this has worked perfectly on our Lightspeed Rocket set up and triggers the captive portal every time without fail. These are the terms/headers/categories for the areas that i have used below. Hopefully this will help anyone still struggling! We only have this issue at shcool, pupils/parents report the chromebooks work fine at their home. for us the main issue is getting the captive portal to display BEFORE anyone can log in, the work around for us has been to add our test student account to evey chromebook then login as that, sign into the captive portal with test student, sign out, then let pupil sign in. once a pupil has signed in (and if they regularly need to borrow a chromebook then we keep a google sheet of whose logged into which chromebook and try to ensure they get the same one that already has their account on) they can login next time without needing the captive portal - that will trigger when they are logged in and try to load a web page.. The chromebooks that seem to trigger the captive portal best are running chromos 118-122, anything newer seems to struggle and we just get a gstatic white error page instead of the captive portal.

We have had this issue for about a year now, already tried everything suggested on here. Have not contacted our ISP (talkstraight) as I have always assumed it is firewall related (lightspeed rocket) as there are frequent issues with the chromebooks connecting to the captive portal (QUIC error), generally have to turn the wifi off and on again a few times to get the captive portal, then get the 400 error. Powerwash tends to work most times, just an annoying daily thing to deal with

Hi All, We have 2fa enabled but not currently enforced for our users but several of them that use multiple computers have to authenticate each device sometimes multiple times a day despite 'trusting this device'. e.g Login to computer A -trust & authenticate, move to computer B - trust and authenticate, move back to computer A have to trust and authenticate again. Cookies are enabled, not using private mode, not set to delete browsing history/cache/cookies on exit. AD Profile is the same as all our other users. Have so far tried the following: Cleared Google profile Open another browser (Edge, Firefox, Safari) Go to your Google Account and sign in From the account page, on the left choose Security Scroll down to 'your devices' Sign out of all devices listed Sign out of your Google account Before signing back in; Open Chrome Go to settings (3 dots top right) In the 'search settings' bar type in 'cookies' Click on 'clear browsing data' Click on 'advanced' From the dropdown choose 'all time' Make sure all boxes are ticked Click on 'clear data' Now open a new webpage and search for 'Google Account' sign back in making sure to tick the 'Remember this device' checkbox and authenticate. Seems to be an issue on Chrome only (I know the obvious would be to just use Edge or W/E instead but they like Chrome) Google have so far suggested the above as a fix... just hoping someone here may have encountered this before and found a fix? Could it be something in their appdata? We havent enforced MFA yet so they have disabled it to avoid having to keep authenticateing on the PCs .. but need to find a fix before it is enforced! any and all help appreciated! Hello All, I have been getting a lot of tickets relating to 'kids playing games in lessons' from staff using the IT Suites (why they arent issuing detentions etc for this I dont know..), so far I have managed quite successfully to block the various websites and keywords however now they have cottoned on that they can use browser extensions to get around this and play games. In Google Admin I have set Devices>Chrome>apps & Extensions>users and browsers> 'Allow/Block mode - Block all apps, admin manages allowlist' and Devices>Chrome>Reports>Apps and Extensions usage - blocking apps here as well. This doesnt seem to be having the desired effect of blocking extensions or preventing access to extensions already installed. I have blocked the URLs for the chrome webstore as well. Any thoughts on why this isnt working? Or advice on how to get rid of user installed extensions? Equally they are doing the same on Edge browser - is there a GPO or such that can be used to prevent browser extentions or the like? Any and all advice welcome! Kind regards, Adam

The cheapest one I could find is the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 @ £150, however it seemed to be out of stock everywhere I could find it with no estimated instock date.. otherwise theres a few at the £199 mark

They would like Tabs over Chromebooks as they want something easily portable and with access to various SEN apps. We are a Google school so ideally we would like to get Chromebook Tabs (yet to find one in that price range however) but my main concern is that staff and/or students wont be able to login to them if they are somewhere out of wifi range. I know that aspects (read apps) can be configured for offline use, but pretty much everything I could find regarding logging in related to a single user rather than a shared device, does any one have any experience in using a shared chromebook device in an area without wifi? Does this work? Alternatively it would be looking at Android tabs, and a few years ago I remember setting up Samsung Tab (6 I think), assigning a policy via Google and setting teachers up on them, but this was for a single user rather than a shared device... I know that there probably isnt a valid/affordable solution to this, but how do you deal with kids removing or rearranging the keyboard keys in your school? We buy cheap keyboards for the student pcs but this week have had to replace and re-key 16 keyboards... it's getting tedious. Thought about the rubber keyboards... but then thought they would just jab at them with pens and compass... 'vandal proof keyboards' seem to come in at a couple £100 so not really in the realm of affordable. So, how do you do it? Take it easy, Adam

Hi all, A new member of staff is logging almost daily tickets saying that her homepage is not displaying her timetable in SIMS, her timetable is correct when viewing through Reports->Timetables->Staff but she is insistent that it displays on the homepage.. We have a new member of staff responsible for the timetabling and has been having issues getting everything sorted (handover from last staff member was less than helpful) and I am trying to help him out, I have skimmed through HFL document DMS387 but this didn't show anything obvious. Just wondering if any of you have any ideas around this? No complaints from any other members of staff but that's not to say they don't have the same issue. I noticed that in Classroom Staff Details she does not have a subject, organisation or working pattern.. but then neither do some other staff members (most have a working pattern though) Please let me know if you need any more info and I greatly appreciate any help you can provide! Hi All, We currently use Text Help Read & Write however this is costly at £2kpa and an annual 5% increase each year.. and a PITA, what do you all use? We looked at Claro Reid, were told we need a site license and I believe they are owned by TextHelp now so doubt pricing will be much less. We just need Text-to-Speech that is easy to deploy to 20 odd exam laptops and works offline. This is all thats needed from R&W---> Take it easy! Adam
