For all those out there using iSAMS for your MIS and Moodle for your VLE; just thought you might like to know that I have finished writing up my process for automatically synchronising student photos from iSAMS straight into Moodle user profiles. You can find the post over here: Moodle User Pictures from iSAMS | Jon Witts' Blog Jon

Tech support got stumped on these two questions so wanted to see if the community may know who have used it before? My first question involves the attached image to this post. For the current academic year as you can see I have made a schedule; however, no class names appear in the schedule even though you can clearly see a student has been assigned to a class. The same issue occurs for room schedules and teacher time table schedules. Any ideas? The second involves me adjusting to iSAMS from MB, which MB makes doing this so easy. Our school does a rotating block 7 day schedule and repeats. For example, on Wednesday, August 8th of 2017 it was day 1 and all classes from day 1 would be offered. The next day is day two and so on... The next day 1 in August would be Friday, August 11th. This rotation repeats throughout the school year. In iSAMS I thought based off of the 150 page instructions you would create your entire rotating schedule within a weekly schedule. Then duplicate that week for each week of the school year and adjust the day orders within the week. However, I learned that if you duplicate a week it does not copy the classes assigned. Any thoughts or success stories on doing a rotating block schedule?

Just out of curiosity if anyone has any iSAMS API scripts they've developed in house? Our school invests in a workflow called Kissflow (love it) and we are trying to get iSAMS student lists into a Google Sheet so that we can then import daily into Kissflow. Unfortunately, after 12 hours of reading and studying I have struck out

Just wondering what people are doing for this? Gov advice looks like it says use X code for those who are remote learning but X is 'Non Compulsory School Age' which we already use for exactly that reason.

Im new to isams, and would like to know if you can clone seating, basically allocate a seat per student to sit every exam? I would appreciate the simplest way to clone this? Many thanks.

Hi All Has anyone successfully linked up Isams hosted online via the API or any other means to Powerbi. If you have do you have any pointers or follow any guides? We cant currently get our head around it at the minute and arent sure if its even possible. Any advice is much appreciated.

Just wondering if any other schools using iSAMS are experiencing slow loading pages? In particular, the general tabs of the Student Manager and HR Manager modules? Other pages seem fine but the general tab is taking up to 30 seconds to load. I've put a ticket in with iSAMS but not heard anything back. This started yesterday.

Hi, Does anyone have any experiences of switching from SIMS to iSAMS they're willing to share, or any general pros and cons of iSAMS / things you wish you knew beforehand? Thanks

Hi, We have recently set up the Parent Portal for iSAMS and have issued all our parents with login details. We are now looking at setting up a CMS system for parents to use to upload photos of students at sporting events. We want the CMS site to be locked down to parents and staff only. Does anyone know of any way to use the authentication process from iSAMS with a third party CMS, like Joomla. Cheers, Barry.

This is a long shot and I'm not expecting a response but I don't want to pay iSAMS and wait a month for a one word answer... I'm creating a contact/medical details report it is to show parents the currently held contact and medical details for their child, all working fine having modified the built in contact details report, only issue is that it shows medical issues that are no longer active (I don't know where it is pulling them from as they don't show on iSAMS), I have added the following fields: TblMedicalconditionsGroup - txtGroup TblMedicalAuditBase - bArchived TblMedicalAuditBase - bDeleted TblMedicalAuditBase - intMedicalRecordTypeID TblMedicalConditionGroup - bDeleted TblMedicalNoteType - bDeleted And have applied the following filters to show only live records: TblMedicalConditionGroup - bDeleted - False TblMedicalNoteType - bDeleted - False TblMedicalAuditBase - bArchived - False TblMedicalAuditBase - bDeleted -False In the query builder it shows all these filters and they are showing the correct results except we have loads where it his showing false for all the filters and yet they still don't show up in iSAMS, in my mind if they aren't deleted or archived then they should show right??? Is there a field somewhere else that I am missing that shows only current live conditions as shown in iSAMS are displayed? Thanks!

Hello everyone, As an iSAMS user, I've noticed how valuable it can be to connect with others in similar roles across different schools. Whether it's sharing solutions to common challenges, discussing best practices, or simply learning from each other's experiences, there's a lot we can gain from networking as iSAMS users. To that end, I’d like to open this thread as a space for all of us to share ideas, ask questions, and collaborate. Whether you’re from a school just starting with iSAMS or have been using it for years, your input is welcome. Here are a few suggestions for how we could use this space: Share tips and tricks that have worked well in your school. Discuss issues or challenges you’re facing and get feedback. Explore how other schools integrate iSAMS with third-party systems like CPOMS, GL Assessments, or Power BI. Discuss upcoming updates or features and how they might impact us. Connect to explore joint projects or solutions (e.g., Power Automate flows, SQL queries, custom reports). To kick things off: What’s one feature or integration of iSAMS that’s been a game-changer for your school? Is there a particular challenge you're currently facing that others might be able to help with? Let’s make this a valuable resource for everyone! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and connecting with you all. Best regards, Tom Head of Data & Systems Queen Ethelburgas Collegiate, UK (Feel free to share your role/title so we can learn a bit more about each other!)

Anyone using iSAMS experiencing errors when trying to take the register using the iTeacher app on IOS devices today?

Ouch. So a 33% price increase. just under 2 years left on our contract so looks like we are going to a new MIS. Time to start looking....

Hi, We have taken the decision to move from Double First to ISAMS. I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice. We have the SQL scripts provided by ISAMS that can be run on the system to extract the bulk of the student and staff data and this works (moderately) well, but this doesn't account for anywhere near all the data in the system. File paths to linked documents, SEN, medical, behaviour and achievement, previous schools etc all awol. Did anyone do this and have script that success to extract from double first (Engage) to Isams? that would really Help. I heard Salamander software do data extraction / moving MIS, anyone has experienced with them ? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi all, This is a very generic question but one I have not been able to get answered. I am in a slow process of building an IMS system from basically scratch as all my school has is ManageBac/OpenApply. I am American and I know ISAMS was built for the UK educational system so their terminology is different. I am in the process of uploading my schedule from ASC time tables and am trying to make sense of the following: What is the difference between class forms and class sets? I have seen it mentioned often throughout ISAMS and in my teaching manager module it is asking for both. Second question and this is a bit more specific. If you upload your time table to ISAMS and get a 500 server error is this because there is a mistake with your ASC time tables where some set of data issue is not matching your ISAMS variables OR is it a much bigger issue with ISAMS where I need to get tech support? I'm trying to avoid going to tech support. Had a rough first few weeks with them and programming errors throughout the portal. Their response is usually ... "Buy our training program"

Im smashing my head agains a wall with these guys. They are quite probably the worst it company i have ever delt with and ive delt with some rubbish before!! ive spent the last few days telling they how to fix there own problems /rant over

Hi all We're about to have iSAMS rolled out through the group of schools we belong to. I've grabbed the manuals from the iSAMS documentation site, but there is not one for the main school manager module, and system admin tools etc, and we could do with this in hand before they walk through the door. Any ideas where we can get one, electronically preferred, since we're in CH, and since we're not supposed to go to ISAMS direct, without going through the senior bodies. cheers in advance

I know they have been in dev for a long time but they sound very promising! Signed up for the BETA so will post once I get a chance to tryHandheld & Mobile Access | iSAMS

Hi We're looking to possibly engage the services of someone who could automate various processes in iSAMS. Specifically pertaining to creating Mark Books and Tracking for the time being, but maybe more along the way. Does anyone have any experience of this, or know where we might be able to go to find someone who has? Thanks

Hi all, I have been asked by SLT if I can arrange to go and see an Independent School that uses ISAMS with some colleageues (from Admin, Finance and Curriculum). We are thinking of getting this product but before we do we would like to hear some experiences of it from another school that use it across the board. We are based in Kingston, Surrey so would be looking for a school that is not too far away. It needs to be an independent school (up to 13 only) that uses ISAMS. Is there anyone that would be willing to take us for a couple of hours? We would also need to see your Finance department and Admissions / Admin, as well as speak to your Director of Studies or someone else high up on the curriculum side. Many thanks.

Dear Users, For the first time in my career I feel let down by my own orginisational skills. I have recently taken up a post at a top school in bogota and I am tasked with finding my school an independent school focused MIS. Based on the talk of this forum I understand I-sams is all the rage. Obviously working with spanish/english speaking staff I am going to need an MIS which is first off, user friendly and easy to intepret even if the language barrier is quite high. I have been told the usability of this tool is particularly high, i would be very interested if someone has any marketing based screen shots they could send me. I will be showing these to my head (new boss) on landing, to show what may be the first school to use Isams in columbia! Any other interesting facts/snippets would be greatly appreciated! In general how does everyone think it will meet the expectations of a foreign independent?

How do you do it?? We have iSAMS, we are being told we need to get parents to check the contact/medical data we hold is correct, from what I can see and iSAMS support have confirmed we have no way of showing parents the medical data we hold, so how do we get them to confirm it is correct, without resubmitting everything each year, and then someone having to go through each pupil and compare it? What we need: Parent contact details confirmed. Pupil Medical data confirmed. A submission form to confirm they have checked, or details to be updated. Ideally an iSAMS form would directly input the data into the system.... This has dragged on and I have no solution for SLT

We're currently moving from SIMS to iSAMS. One thing we've come across is our 3rd party integrators like Salamander and Vericool are querying the large amounts of staff we have that they can see. From what I understand, all staff from SIMS have been moved to iSAMS which includes contractors, peripatetic music staff, volunteers etc. These users are needed to be added as staff so that the data in the Single Central Register is as up to date as possible but got me wondering if there is another way we're meant to add these types of userse in iSAMS?

Hi all, I've been really getting into MS Power apps over the past couple of years (So far I've modernised the SEN department, Music department instrumental lessons and sports day). All of the data is stored in sharepoint lists to avoid dataverse costs which are huge. We use isams for our mis and currently I have a 'core data' list in Sharepoint which all of the apps pull from to get data such as student names, forms, billing codes, house, misid, year group and email address. At the moment I have to manually update it which isn't great (trying to do any bulk data operation in sharepoint lists is awful). Does anyone know the best way to set up a power automation to pull the data across automatically? We have access to the SQL into our local ip address so I'm presuming we'll need to use one of our local servers as a gateway but beyond that I wouldn't know how to tackle it. If anyone else has gone through the same procedure I'd love to hear how you set it up. Thanks in advance Richard

Heads up: we’ve got multiple iSAMS hosted schools down in Asia and Middle East with weird errors. It’s been over 6 hours. Status page doesn’t show any issues. They are working on it, but worth a check on your systems just in case.
