Hi all We periodically get reports of issues with the Photopea website. Yesterday's issue was running slow for some users and images disappearing from the Teachers Board. Is anyone else having these occasional issues with Photopea? If you have managed to resolve them I would appreciate knowing how you did it. Just for background:- Our Internet up/down at the time was good with loads of spare bandwidth and all machines have relatively high end CPUs and 16GB RAM (no dedicated graphics though). The devices themselves shown no sign of running low on resources or local hardware errors and the issues are not device specific. We are currently just running Photopea from the Photopea URL via a Chrome Web Browser. Many thanks Lynn

Hi guys I am having some issues with a website redirect. Current I have the following set on the host of newdomain.org.uk: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^.*$ http://www.olddomain.kent.sch.uk [R=301] So newdomain.org.uk redirects to olddomain.kent.sch.uk - all working fine. My issue is that I have a subdomain that I do not want to redirect. I need it so that http://newdomain.org.uk/ and http://www.newdomain.org.uk/ redirect to http://www.olddomain.kent.sch.uk but http://subdomain.newdomain.org.uk does not redirect. Would anyone be able to redirect me in the right direction, please? pun intended Thank you

Hello! I have been asked to run a KS2 Coding club (starting tomorrow, nothing like short notice eh!) and I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations on what free websites are out there to use? I'm hoping to identify a group of children to become 'digital leaders' to pass on IT skills to younger children and run this club as a curated group, rather than a baby sitting service So far we only use Code.org, which is awesome! and free iPad apps such as SpriteBox, ALEX, DaisyTheDinosaur, BeeBot/BlueBot/etc. We are a chromebook (and ipad) school so websites with Google SSO would be fab. Suggestions are very much appreciated, Thanks!

Hello, I just wanted to add a quick post to put myself out there offering a hand to anyone who needs it. I've been working within a secondary school for coming up to a year and notice the lack of support for IT Technicians regarding school websites or web based systems. My background is working as a developer, and have extensive experience in the field that I will always be happy to offer a hand in. I can help with issues related to CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, APIs, Integrations, OAuth, Azure, Databases and much more. Any issues you have fire a message below, or drop me a private message and I'll try my best to get back to you quickly

Our school has had Policy Central for a few years now but I've only recently had time to get it working properly. The issue we are having is that if I select the categories that I think should be blocked, like pornography and games etc, it seems to block other things too. I had a teacher email me earlier saying his class couldn't get on BBC Good Food, for some reason this was blocked and I had to manually add to this the allowed list. Is there a website or anyone that has a CSV list which all the websites that should be blocked, and that gets updated frequently that I could import into PCE, rather than using the categories? Hopefully someone can help! -
An idea has been presented to me by a teacher... They want to build a 'virtual school' as part of our website. I've created a virtual staffroom for the school anyway, but that was only basic image mapping. Could I use image mapping as I have previously and add animations on rollover? Say, a collection of around 20 image maps linking to each other through a central 'corridor'? If so, how can I go about learning how to put these animations on a rollover, previously I've only got as far as an image swap, I'm trying to understand how to use what type of animation... Or am I thinking completely along the wrong lines, I don't want to spend days on this, but it seems like it could be quite simple or extremely complicated!!! If anyone could share any ideas on how the best way for me to do this would be I will be EXTREMELY greatful!!! Thanks Laura

I have, either bravely or foolishly, volunteered to design and host a Church website for a Church that currently has no electronic presence (beyond a Yahoo e-mail address). I'm planning static information pages, rolling news stories, group mailing lists, calendar with events, and possibly to look at podcasting sermons later on. The most important bit is that it isn't tied to heavily to one individual (me or anyone else) such that the website folds as and when that person leaves the area or becomes too busy. I mostly have experience with Drupal which I'm not sure will do the job with a lot of hacking (specifically around the calendar/events issue), and Wordpress- which possibly will. Despite great plugins and a auto-updater I'm not sold that this is the best solution for this type of site (although many do use it as such). What I do use has to be free, Open Source, and should ideally have a reasonably strong community offering plugins and support so if I'm hit by the proverbial bus life (for the website at least) will go on. I'm not scared of a challenge and learning a new system, but it must be easy to maintain and update once in place. Have you any suggestions or practical experience to relay for a project of this type, both technical (the right CMS, features to try and those to avoid, good plugins) and human (how to achieve user buyin from a diverse community). On that note, the Church is outward looking and has a diverse range of ages and backgrounds, so this may impact the choice of style and design. All comments appreciated.

Hi All I know this is a bit cheeky, but am after a logo for the new website I am setting up, and thought the best place would be here. The website is called landywatch - landywatch.co.uk/ - Index page and is a Land Rover Theft Monitoring website. What we are setting up a system where we can log all Land Rover thefts, recovered Land Rovers, and suspicious activity into a database that can then be brought up on a map so we can identify trends in the theft of these vehicles. We are after a logo for the website, but I am not the best at using design packages and thought with the wealth of graphical experience on this website a cracking logo could be made. I was thinking of something along the lines of the Neighbourhood Watch logo, or the Home Watch Logo, with the middle part of the logo replaced with a blueprint of a Land Rover. http://launton.org/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/neighbourhood_watch.jpg http://transport-blueprints.ru/images/landrover_001.jpg http://www.rochdale.gov.uk/images/homewatch-logo.gif I was thinking something along the lines of the above with Landy Watch as the text and your artistic flair We could then have these made up into window stickers for vehicles, as well as branding for the website. If anyone could spare a little time to make us a logo it would be much appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I’m planning on trying to put together a website for my residents committee (and all owners/tenants) in my block of flats. I’d like for it to provide a website forum and log-on’s for potentially up to 300-400 users. There are 183 flats in my development and most are rented so I’d like to have logon options for both the tenants and owners. Other than the forums I’d like to use the website for hosting minutes of meetings/factoring documents/letters. Some kind of bulk email (for newsletters/etc.) to all users’ would be useful as well. Problem is I really don’t have much of a clue when it comes to putting together a website from scratch. I’ve had a look at 1&1 for hosting which seems like it might do the trick. It offers the option of Linux hosting or MS hosting. I’d guess I’d be looking for Linux hosting and using something free like phpbb since I won’t actually be generating any income from the website. Their mid-range package for £8.99 month offers up to 10 MySQL databases and what looks (to me at least!) like a good range of supported options? Can anyone advise whether that will be sufficient for what I’m planning on doing and whether there’s anything else I should consider or look into before signing up? Any advice appreciated…! TIA -
Hello all, I hope someone can help me with a problem that is driving me crazy! We have just purchased frog and are in the process of getting the design and overall look of the VLE finalised. However, since I apparently have enough time, I thought "why dont I design some mock-ups for departmental sites (mini sites)". So I have come up with some ideas and now just realised that they may not be easy to create in Frog. It may be possible to create and use widgets or may even be simple enough to create in Frog. But we have not got the Frog server installed so I can't play around with it to check. I have tried contacting frog but not recieved a clear answer. I have attached two of the designs and would really really really appreciate it, if someone can let me know if they will be easy to recreate on Frog. Thank you!

Hi all We have been on Twitter and Facebook for about 5 years now. Our success is very limited - we have just a few hundred subscribers and our content is not eye-catching/regular enough to really engage people. Our Head wants us to start using social media more, but as I have explained to her, one of the challenges that we face is getting good quality regular content. We are now down to just 2 IT technical staff - me and one other guy and we are run off of our feet, particularly as I also line manage the business support and facilities management too. Everyone here is very busy, so I don't see this shift being easy. Last week we staged a marketing meeting and got quite a bit of staff interest in involvement, however I think our Head doesn't want to load any more of this work onto teachers. I have said that I am happy to post things up, but that I need the content delivered to me rather than me walking around trying to find an interesting lesson to tweet about. I have setup a shared folder on the network and some staff have also begun emailing me content, not yet realising that captions (and 140 character restricted captions) are required. So how does everyone do it? Do you allow certain "champions" to have access to the Twitter and Facebook accounts and tweet live from departments? We are a little concerned for moderation and security of the account details on this, but are open that it could be an option... Do you have a shared folder? Perhaps with dates on it or something? Do they email it to you? Do you outsource your marketing? How does it work in your school? Any advice appreciated. -
Hi there, One of the schools I work at currently have Office365 email and OneDrive cloud storage and all staff are happy using both products. They have also been using Microsoft's Public-Facing Sharepoint website as their main website. Microsoft is currently closing Public-Facing Websites (though we've clicked the option to postpone until March 2018) and I'm looking at a new website provider. I've contacted various school-focused providers but I am also looking into using the Sites portion of Google's G Suite. Is anyone else running both Office 365 and G Suite / Google Sites side-by-side? I'd initially be looking to just set up the website on G Suite but can I do that and use my school.LA.sch.uk domain when the same domain is used by Office 365 for our mail? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I'm after some advice on how best to redirect our school website url to our VLE. Currently our website has a temporary page which redirects to our uniservity VLE after 30 secs. I would like it so it redirects instantly. It would also be great to retain the Website address as it's better than the VLE one I think the server is IIS, as I tried a .htaccess file and it didn't work. I'm aware I could use a meta-refresh or a frames page, or reduce the countdown to redirect but I've heard all of these are perceived badly by search engines. The website is hosted by RM and I could just send them a change request to 301 redirect to the school-portal address, but I often have to use the webspace to prove we own the domain for certificate requests etc. and this wouldn't keep the sch domain visible. Is there a way to achieve this? Thanks,

Are there any online Driving Theory Test websites (Free/paid) that anyone would recommend? Our PSE department are looking for something to use with our 6th years. We previously had a CD version but it's from 2003 so is kind of out of date now. Because of this I was thinking that somekind of website subscription would be ideal given the driving test is continually being updated so it's the only way we could keep up. TIA

I am currently administering a website which requires an optional PDF document to be downloaded. I have been using Dreamweaver and not yet had any success. There needs to be a link (preferably with an icon of an Adobe PDF document) on the homepage of the site which when clicked will allow people to open or save the document. I'm sure that this is fairly simple, but I have not had much experience with Dreamweaver in the past... If anyone can tell me how to do this I would be most grateful. Henning.

Mornin' all. I've been making a website to help folks waste those pesky work hours with some light-hearted, film-guessing fun. Guess the film - fun and games; film based puzzles / puzzles is the result. Go, have a look, see what you think. If it looks like fun to you sign up and tell your friends; if not then sorry for the ad. A couple of bits of the styling (consistent font sizes etc) still need to be addressed but that shouldn't get in the way of enjoying the puzzles. Hello :-Dave

All.. Looking for a little assistance in terms of getting access to this site. https://scholar.hw.ac.uk Behind our Websense (or ForcePoint, as I think it's called now) proxy, users on IE or Chrome get: This site is not secure Error code DLG_FLAGS_INVALID_CA Users can click "Go onto the webpage", and they get access but with a Certificate error warning at the top. As a test, I took one of our DirectAccess laptops home and tried accessing the site. Using proxy, I got the same error. If I switched IE to direct (because I'm at home), then I got on. Once I was on, then I could access the site behind proxy. I'm guessing that our https filtering proxy is mangling or blocking some kind of https certificate for the user. Once it's in place, all is well. All feedback welcomed. Cheers, Gerard

Hi everyone. Just discovered that the programme for our sports day has been published on our website. Upon checking, it contains what looks like all the different events and which students are taking part in those events and at what times. Must be a couple of hundred student names on there - full firstname and lastname. We actively invite our parents to the sports day, so I imagine the idea is that parents know which event their child is doing at what time, etc. It makes me quite nervous, but struggling to put into words (apart from GDPR says no) on a hot Monday afternoon why this is an issue. The best concrete thing I can think of is: does anyone know that students on the programme are ones that we must not admit exist due to safeguarding issues. Despite pushing GDPR till everyone is sick of it for what seems a lifetime, nobody thought to mention they were going to do this so I could at least perform a DPIA. Thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks, Meldrew. -

Hi guys Ive taken over the role of organizing and developing the school website. Im wanting to get us away from our current hosting company as they are trying to rip us off, the problem with this is that i will need to provide an alternative to them and for less money. I am thinking wordpress.com but i have one issue that needs to be overcome before it is really viable, that is password protected pages. Currently the password when entered is stored in the cookies for 10 days, i need it to clear after a moment or two but that seems to be an option reserved for wordpress.org. Is there a way around this or a plugin that will give me the functionality i need.

Has anyone here ordered anything from Jamdup.com? I ordered a drum unit for our kyocera FN-1350 from this website, took the money and gave me details to log into their website. after waiting a couple of days, I went to see how the order was coming along, so I went onto the website, but it is now down, so I tried ringing and phones is always either closed or busy and the phone inbos is full so can't leave a message!! sorry for the little rant, but as you can tell, I'm not happy about it. Just wondered if anyone has ordered from there before?

Its getting up to that time of year where the weather turns into this white stuff that kids adore, this is mainly because of them getting a day off school. my question however is what does your school do to their website to notify visitors about the closure, as im currently new to doing the website i didnt know what the best route to go down is, im running wordpress and could do with some ideas on the best notifcation system for the web alone as we also use schoolcomms to text the childrens parents about the snow.
