  1. Hi All, After a bit of advice, I have been given the task to buy 90x Desktop PCs to refresh out three suites. Can anyone recommend a reputable supplier who supply decent kit and who does not cut and run once they have your cash and provide good after sales support. Kind Regards Scott
  2. Hi Quackers, Do I install and configure the Windows vpn service on the actual SIMS.net server. Have you done this at your school?
  3. Hi All, Our head has requested that we provide SIMS.net access for our teaching staff from home but do not want to stump up for the cost of SIMS learning gateway. Has anyone else setup a similar system because I just need a few pointers. Can this be setup through RemoteApp? Some hand holding would be greatly appreciated.
  4. All sorted now, even though the device manager states that all devices are running correctly and I have nothing plugged into any of the NICs, I had to run a hotfix on the NIC and now everythin g is hunky dory. cheers achandler for pointing me in the right direction.
  5. There is nothing outstanding in device manager so i assume so.
  6. Hi Achandler, The only thing i can see is something called 'system interrupts' that is running 24% but i don't know what it is, I am not too savvy with server. but i cannot see anything else using the CPU to equate to the 99% CPU usage.
  7. Hi all, We have just freshly installed R2 DataCenter (full) onto a new server and when i logged on for the first time it is running painfully slow. I have checked the performance and the CPU is constantly spiking at 98%. Has anyone got any ideas?, I am pretty lost with this. I tried to log into safe mode but when I come to the login screen it displays the ctrl+alt+del and before I have a chance to logon it just restarts. The spec of the server is 8GB RAM 4x xeon E5506@ 2.13ghz
  8. Hi Guys, Not sure if this should be in the server 2008 thread (but as our network is solely 2008) i thought it was a good place to start. PCs in certain OUs won't allow users to use USB flash drives. I have checked the group policy for the OU and there is nothing there whatsoever that specifies the restriction of removable devices. Student and staff are restricted, but if they use another pc in a different part of the school they are able to. I am finding this totally bizarre. Are there any local group policies that could be restricting this.
  9. Hi all, Fisrtly I apologise becasue I am a Noob to all of this. I am after some advice and pointin gin the right direction. My current deployment strategy is as goes .... I install XP with all the latest patches, drivers, plugins, third party software such as Serif, Game Maker etc I then take and image with Symantec ghost (this is so i can edit it later if needs be). I then Sysprep the machine and take another image and call it e.g. image_sysprepped. Now we are planning on phasing in some windows 7 machines and as I am aware they have brough tout WAIK. I have used this and can get a windows 7 machine to add to the domain etc but I can't seem to find anywhere I can install the third party software. Does this mean I need to install all my third party stuff from MSI and is my old method redundant or am I just missing something. Kind Regards SAP
  10. Hi all, I was wondering if you could all help me. For the past few years as part of my role within the schools ICT team i have been responsible for designing, developing and managing the schools website. I am totally self taught and have developed a pretty good knowledge of html, css, php and jQuery etc but with the development of CMS such as WordPress I want to use one for the schools site. There appears to be numerous CMS's out there and was wondering if anyone has any preference and can point me in the right direction with plugns and templates etc. Kind Regards Scott
