Our issue at the moment is that Internet access stops completely for about 15 mins at a time one or twice a day, S10 appliance on dual 330Mb FTTP. Not particularly at busy times either. Over the space of a fortnight: raise a support call, no response. Chiivy, no response. CEO at this point on the warpath. Call the urgent support line - voicemail. No callback. Raise escalation via various methods, eventually get a response. Turns out the box they sold us isn't good enough. The HDD's in it are so poor, it can't keep up. Been shipped new drives now, didn't give us the ISO to rebuild from. Chivvied, no response. Chivved again, promised a call back, no call back. Eventually after escalating again, got ISO & instructions. Have to take down Internet to do a full rebuild, etc, likely half a day of downtime (Tuesday's job). We told them our setup when we were buying it, so why sell us an under powered box to begin with. Personally not convinced that the new drives will make any difference, but we'll see. Meldrew.

I know it doesn't fulfil all of your requirements by any means, but we're also very unhappy with Smoothwall at the moment and are interested in Securly. You'd need a firewall too, obviously, but that's where we're likely to be heading. Meldrew

It would be interesting to switch 2,4 off for 10 mins, however to see if that made any difference with the phones...

Have you tried a powerwash see if that changes anything?

I seem to remember something about getting this message if there wasn't enough contiguous free space, ie a need to defrag the drive. hashtag quaint.

I've had to refuse it on safeguarding grounds, but was really disappointed that I couldn't do it - would have been great PR. Meldrew.

Spring 2021 SIMS update has killed commandreporter
Meldrew replied to rogerdnixon's topic in MIS Systems
Have you tried deleting the SIMS client installation and re-installing? I've seen a similar error with commandreporter when the SIMS client upgrade couldn't upgrade commandreporter.exe as it was in use at the time. Meldrew. -

Is the Allen Martin box actually doing its job of controlling the heating? Eg if you set the heating to come on at a different time, it does what it is told?

Do schools need a SIRO as well as a DPO
Meldrew replied to Meldrew's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Many thanks, much appreciated. -
Hi everyone. One of our trustees has been on a training course and is now asking who the MAT's SIRO is. I've not heard the term SIRO mentioned since way before GDPR, I guess I assumed that the position of DPO has made a SIRO obsolete. My gut feeling is that the training course was well out of date, but I need a definitive answer. Googling it, the only hits are in the area of healthcare that I can see. Or do we need a SIRO as well as a DPO? Many thanks in advance, Meldrew

If you stick with SIMS, SIMS primary is much more usable than the SIMS we all know.
