"Error trying to get OneDrive settings" after user rename.
MrEprise posted a topic in Cloud Services
Having a bit of a panic attack while trying to sort this one. Renamed a user who either got married or divorced over the summer, and it's something I've done numerous times without issue but this time after the rename, they can't access their OneDrive and I get "Error trying to get OneDrive settings" if I try to access it via 365 admin. I've gone into SharePoint admin and verified that their personal folder still exists as far as that tells me but if I try to access the personal folder, I get "404 FILE NOT FOUND". I've tried renaming the user back but it's not changing the account name or personal site URL back and I've tried removing the OneDrive licence and adding it back in. Reason for the panic attack? We have no backups of any of our 365 tenant anymore. We did have Barracuda until January of this year where the trust stopped paying for it because it was deemed "too expensive" and there hasn't been any budget to buy any sort of replacement for it. We did also have access to our backup archive until yesterday when they'd sent an email informing us that we'd be losing it all. So you can imagine how I might be feeling right around now. 😢 -
Depends when they're added to your MIS and when the sync runs. We usually have to give it between 24 to 48 hours before they appear on ours.

We started off with a branch of Future Zone which back in the day, had the same vibe as Gamestations had. I felt like I was on first name terms with all the staff that worked there, plus the store manager was a family friend from years before. Then it became Electronics Boutique. The staff were there for a few more years until they started messing things up and the workers I knew had gone elsewhere. Then it became a Game and it just wasn't the same. Around that time, we also had a Gamestation open up and it felt just like the Future Zone we used to have. Always super busy as well compared to Game which was often almost empty. Then the inevitable happened and we lost our Gamestation and the really nice staff that worked there.

She was also the Pigeon lady in Home Alone 2 which I imagine a lot of people will know her primarily from that. -
This is the same issue we've had, but for us it's duplicated Student records. It only started happening when someone from Inventry remoted in to fix missing Student records and it made things a lot worse. Unfortunately, they never did fix it and I know of no way to fix it myself.

It used to, then I changed the configuration of it and it doesn't anymore. We had an issue where 2 students weren't being synced across, so I contacted support to get them to rectify it. I ended up contacting them 4 times in all because they kept making it worse with each support call. Where we had 2 students not showing, we now have several not showing and many duplicates showing on the front screen. I can't now get that rectified as our support has lapsed and I can't get it renewed as our reseller seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. I want to ditch Inventry but there's no money to either.

Used to get that a lot with old cover disks/CDs where they'd give you the full version of a software product completely free, but print somewhere what it's normally worth i.e. £199.00. The original cost ended up being immaterial, especially as you'd load it up and see exactly why they were giving it away for free.

At the point of renewal a year or so ago, they told us that this would be converted to a SaaS license whether we wanted it to be or not. We didn't renew at the time due to budget-flow issues so we're still on our existing perpetual license. The only drawback for us is we're stuck on 8.6.26 which doesn't allow for Manifest V3 on our Chromebooks. As it stands, theoretically we ought to be able to run our Impero server without internet access but anyone on the SaaS license might run into difficulty I'd think.

To be honest, we don't have the space either and I'm finding myself moving the cage often as the spaces I use get earmarked for something else. This is where a bin would have been of more use as it could have lived outside but We Trade Tech said they couldn't give us a bin either (though that might have been due to the bins going missing/being used for other things.) At the moment, I've plonked it in the exam table store but it can't really stay there either.

The only thing I found with Enviro Electronics is that when I requested a large wheelie bin, they told me that due to our location, it wouldn't be cost effective for them to do so and wanted to do a pickup there and then. Unfortunately due to my working setup, I wasn't able to commit to giving that much time to running around our site to pick up old/broken equipment for them to take (given we have no single place to put said old/broken equipment.) In the end we went with We Trade Tech and they left us a cage to put all our waste in and I can do it all at my leisure.

How can it be Senso if it was happening to you on your personal machine at home!?

I've had HP desktops do strange things like this before. In my last place had a dc7700 which after shutting it down (or forcibly turning it off) would just turn itself back on again. Where I needed a temporary makeshift server for something, I used this PC as we couldn't really use it anywhere else and it meant it couldn't be accidently turned off in any way where it couldn't be easily restarted. I guessed this probably had a bad flash of the BIOS or AMT firmware at some point.

I'm glad it isn't just us with the issue. I did find out it was happening at other schools in our Trust but as we all use Smoothwall, I'd presumed it might have been a caching issue or something but couldn't get to the bottom of it. I've got a few members of staff who use the new web outlook where this happens very frequently. It'll do it for a few days, sort itself then start doing it again, though it seems to pick users at random. One particular member of staff it happens to, is the type to act like it's the end of the world for them and start complaining to SLT that the computers are carp. I keep telling them it's not limited to our school but...
