  1. Our Data Manager has to manipulate XML spreadsheets as part of his routines and re-upload them. Excel crashes when he tries to save the downloaded XML, then recovers, so no data is lost - but it's obviously not liking the XML. He can save the report as an excel sheet, but then takes 6 attempts to save as an XML after this. Thanks in advance for anybody who has any ideas! Laura
  2. I've been given 50 RM Slates to build... The Bios doesn't seem to want me to PXE boot, does anyone know if this is possible?? Thanks Laura
  3. Thanks, there's some really helpful replies, I've got in touch with the local specialist who's fitted out some of the other academies, they've given me some really good advice... I apologise if anyone was offended by the open-endedness of this thread, but when you're asked for a dream system it is open ended, and therefore open to imagination... Thanks for the replies anyway, I've got my dream system on paper to show the builders!
  4. I've just been told to get for Thursday my 'ideal' lighting setup for our new build 280sqm hall with 12sqm(expandable) stage, 220+ capacity, . Including weights and rigging. I'm not too sure where to start, found a basic package that looks good from an australian company, but can't see much without having a site survey (of a room not yet built) from UK Companies. Anyone want to share what you've got/what your ideal system would be? This is to go with school shows, and even if we can't get the actual lights permanently, the rigging needs to be able to suspend what we'd need for a school show... I've also got a 140m2 hall to think about having lighting effects in too... I'm a bit stuck!! Thanks, Laura
  5. Oops - Spanning Tree = Disabled on most but enabled on a few - this is going to cause me trouble isn't it?
  6. Just had a look at the logs on the SmartCache and every 10 minutes I'm getting the error: External issues were noted by the caching service in the last 10mins which include [X Amount] authentication exchanges which have suffered from network congestion This suggests we've got bigger problems does't it? :-(
  7. Hotfixes applied Friday, I'd contacted RM too. Would the SmartCache 2 be able to interfere with the network enough to take parts of the site down?? Thanks, Laura
  8. I have 5 different sites linked by fiber. We're a windows 7 network, server 2008 r2, about 21 switches... Every couple of weeks the internet drops off and on, but I can still acess the proxy server (RM Smartcache 2), then we get an upstream proxy error. I though that was actually an upstream proxy error at first, but then I start losing packets all over the place until eventually everything goes upside down... We've tried isolating it to a single point on the site by knocking everything off and starting up the cabs one by one, but everything's fine after a restart so can't find the problem ... When we notice it starting I've gone through each of the switches too, resetting and it still eventually goes down... I'm a bit lost as to what to do next, could this just be a looped cable, or a dodgy backbone or just the network throwing a tantrum.. Anyone with any direction for me would be brilliant. I've come into this school this year and I'd say roughly 30% of the switches and ports are actually labelled up too, so it's a bit of a nightmare tracing things through... Thanks in advance, Laura
  9. Default Download location reset to C:\ so in User Configuration/Preferences/Windows Settings/Registry/ add new HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer, Right Pane Select Default Download location, update to (User Home Drive) EasyMail+ will not reply to messages in IE9, so enable Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Compatibility View Sorry if I'm telling any of you what you already know, but I've just had to search these out...
  10. If you like the action ones, the Robert Ludlum books might be up your street (Author of the books behind the Bourne films).
  11. I'm swapping proxies on our Macs, Mobile Me is having trouble syncing on our new proxy...does anyone know what needs to be allowed on the filter to let Mobile Me sync? Thanks Laura
  12. On one of our iMacs I'm getting an error when trying to logon to Workgroup Manager - an error of type- 14473 occurred, and then I can't log on. On the same machine I've got an error on my virtual machine (Windows 7) which I'm trying to install a printer by Desktop Authority, and also run sims on. The error is when mapping the S: drive at logon - shows 'unknown error 67 67' and also fails to update the printer assigned, with an error downloading the driver (Using Desktop Authority to map those on the Windows Network) I've trawled the Mac forums, not had any joy... If you could brighten up my dreary Wednesday by shedding a little light on this I'd be very grateful! Thanks in advance.
  13. That does block it, I want to only block the local C: for the same users who can't see the C: Drive though, not for everyone - the NoViewOnDrive restricts access completely bar local administrator..I suppose I could implement that if it ever became a real problem, thanks anyway...
  14. The users aren't trying to do anything to the C Drive yet, I'm trying to prevent it happening. They can't see C in My Computer. They can only see this when using the Open File Location which is what I'm trying to get rid of.
  15. I'm trying to stop users following the path by using the option - users can't view C: normally through My Computer, but through 'Open File Location' they can.
