Hi folks, I’m getting a problem with multicasting from my DPs and wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar or give me some points on what I could check. I’ve got 3 DPs in different areas of campus being managed by SCCM 2007. These were put in place last summer and worked fine for the major rollout last year. This year however, if I advertise and image out to PCs they get the advert and reboot, but will only try to contact DP3 (whether it is closest or not) and pull the wim from there. If I pxe boot the machine, it will get the same boot image as the advert, but will only try to contact either DP1 or DP2 and never tries DP3! Last year when it worked ok I could see the machines try to contact any of the 3 DPS and worked fine. I’ve had the network checked for multicast being enabled etc. but that’s all in place as it was last year. I’ve refreshed the boot image and checked all the DPs for health and errors, but come up empty. I’ve also removed multicast from all the DPs and content, then re-enabled it again but still the same. Does anyone have any ideas of where to look next or what to try? Thanks.

Hello I am trying to set up a virtual RM CC4 machine on an apple mac in VirtualBox. This is my first few steps into the virtualised world. I have tried making an XP VM and then pxe booting it but its having none of it. Has anyone done this before? Have any guidance on how to do it? or possibly a guide? Is it possible to pxe boot a virtual machine from a physical RM network? I have looked at the physical to virtual tools but it takes an age to make an image. Is there a better way? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am an apprentice within IT and I need some assistant. (I do not know much technical terms yet as I am still learning so please be advised). We have Dell Latitude 3190 laptops at my workplace which were given to us by the DfE during Covid-19 time to deploy for home working/learning. We still have 12 of these in my office, which we plan to deploy using an IpV4 network boot. We have brought a LAN to USB adapter as these laptops do not have ethernet ports on them. I then went into the BIOS and enabled the network stack as I had been told too. The only issue is, Once enabling this and going back to the F12 boot up, it only shows Windows Boot Manager. It will not allow me to boot in any other mode. I have even enabled boot with USB and changed the fastboot options as was advised. I am stuck. I am not sure what to do. On normal DELL desktops, I have noticed there was additional options that allowed it to PXE boot that doesn't seem to be on this BIOS? Could I please get some support please. Thank you.

I am in the process of setting up sccm 2012 using the guide on windows-noob.com but have hit a problem with my pxe erroring with No Boot Image File Recieved, I have sccm 2007 running on my site already so have disable WDS on that server Description: Microsoft Windows PE (x86) Version: Creator: SystemDir: WINDOWS ]LOG]!> The operation completed successfully. (Error: 00000000; Source: Windows)]LOG]!> Unspecified error (Error: 80004005; Source: Windows)]LOG]!> PackageID: RHQ00005

Hello IT People, I am setting up an SCCM Lab on VMware ESXI . Thats all setup. I have setup and followed guides on SCCM setup and all install fine. I have the following setup 1. VMware ESXI with server 2019 OS 2. DC on separate server with DNS DHCP 3. SCCM setup on different server with all the IIS Web server , net frame.. , SQL 2019 SCCM 2002 MECM, ADK 2004 Win PE 2004 etc 4. All fire walls turned off 5. I can between the servers 6. No Vlans 7. Distributed all Content to DP points 8. PXE enable which installed the WDS role 9. Checked all PXE option on DP , 10. Configured DHCP with scope and server option 66 boot server and 67 file name 11. I am getting DHCP request fine when booting 12. Add boot file to WDS form windows DVD 10 13. Added boot file top WDS form remote install folder sms images 14. Update the server 15. Created a deployed Task sequence When ever I PXE boot it just says no PXE boot aborted boot to next device no OS found. I have gone through a load of forums but nothing seems to work. This driving me nuts now it just seem not picking up the SCCM boot image i think ? Any body with some advise please thanks a lot

Hi there, I have been trying for days on end to get MDT to work with some old HP 655 laptops we have. I've used MDT for a couple of years now so understand it's workings quite well, but this issue has stumped me! I am trying to deploy Windows 7 x64. When I PXE boot, I get a wizard error... "A connection to the deployment share (deployment_share) could not be made. The following networking device did not have a driver installed' PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV8168&SUBSYS_1885103C&REV_07". I have tried: - ensuring the correct LAN driver is imported into the correct deployment workbench folder - updated the deployment share and replaced the image in WDS - compared LAN driver IDs with those of a working HP 655 - installed a fresh version of Windows 7 x64 on a HP 655 and installed the same driver manually, which works. - for fun I've also tried importing numerous other drivers, which also didn't work. - much Googling and head scratching. I am very close to giving in and just manually installing and updating the laptops...but there are 10 of them and the amount of effort that would take isn't very appealing! I should point out I have some HP 635's too and MDT works fine on those! Many thanks for any suggestions, Scott

I've been given 50 RM Slates to build... The Bios doesn't seem to want me to PXE boot, does anyone know if this is possible?? Thanks Laura

HI, Wanted to run something past you guys in the hope that you would be able to tell me if it’s just how it needs to be or there’s something wrong with our configuration. If I want to use PXEboot to deploy images out, I have to let our network guys know in advance so they can lower the IP lease time from the normal 2 weeks to about 5 hours. This they say is because when I deploy using PXEboot, the computer ends up with 2 IPs. One given to PXE and the other to the OS once installed. Even if PXE is switched off on the computer after deployment, the PXE apparently still holds onto the IP. Resulting in some of the subnets running out of IPs for the DHCP to distribute. I would have thought the DHCP would be clever enough to know a computer’s MAC addy is already assigned an IP and not give it a second. My network/server guys tell me if I leave PXEboot on in the BIOS the machine ends up being assigned multiple IPs! I just didn’t think that sounded correct. I’ve never heard of anyone else having to do this and wondered what other people do? Thanks

Hi! A quick bit of background info before I ask my question, I'm a new IT guy for a university that currently use MDT for their deployment and they are eager to get WDS PXE Boot off the ground, BUT, they have 2 sites (soon to be 3 sites) within close proximity to each other that have 6 separate IP ranges with a mixture of DHCP and static IP allocation. I have been toying with discovery images for the static IP ranges but I know that each disk will need to have the same IP address as the boot image to be able to communicate which is extra work, I think I already know what the answer might be but I just wanted to put the feelers out there just in case some clever person has managed to get around this problem in the past? So my question is WDS PXE Boot across sub-nets, possible or impossible? Dan

I'm currently in the process of upgrading to Windows 10. However none of our older machines which don't support UEFI will PXE boot from SCCM 1902. The process starts however part way through the process hangs and after a short delay I get error 0xc0000001 (A required device isn't connected or cant be accessed). The boot image contains the network and storage drivers for the machines with the issues, I've disabled "Enable Window Variable Extension" and I've adjusted RamDiskTFTPBlockSize and RamDiskTFTPWindowSize but nothing seems to work. Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks
