Anyone managed to add bat or cmd scripts to a mdt task sequence? Tried a few methods but not had much luck...

Morning all, Just a quick one I'd like to ask. Recently been setting up MDT 2013 Update 2 to push out Windows 10 Version 1511, build 10586. I've created my capture image, which sysprepp'd and captured fine, then I imported the captured WIM file into my MDT share, created a task sequence.. Updated deployment share, replaced boot image in WDS and restarted the WDS service. Then, PXE boot a machine, selected the Win10 Task Sequence, it installs the OS then reboots, logs in as Administrator as doesn't continue running any scripts and just sits on the desktop. Had a look in the MDT monitoring and it always gets stuck at step 56 out of 93, then after a while the status changes to "Unresponsive" Could anyone shed any light on this one for me?

I've finally managed to get an EES agreement. I have set up a KMS server and installed the key for 'Windows 2012 R2 for Windows 10'. Now, when it comes to deploying Windows 10 do I need to install a product key or do I simply leave it blank? If it's the former, do I specify a KMS client key as such from here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612867(v=ws.11).aspx

Before, in the past, I was able to capture and create my own custom .WIM file of Windows 7 that was already activated. Now, however, I am no longer able to capture and sysprep an OS that is activated. After deploying my custom image it states that I have 3 days remaining to activate in the System Properties screen. Is there a way around it?

Afternoon Guys, For the first time ever I'm having to allocate security groups to machines and have been looking at using a script to do this during the deployment task sequence. However - is this the best way to do it or can it be done through the MDT Database? If anyone uses a script - where do they set it to apply? Here is the script I am considering: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Add-the-current-computer-3759f02d Happy to hear opinions. Regards Gareth

Hi All Hopefully one of you can help. So I network boot a computer, boot into LiteTouch x64, it goes black with the loading bar and that all goes well. Then it loads the Windows "spinny wheel" start up screen and that goes well but it then boot into MDT, shows me the background and loads for a second but then doesn't bring up the Installation Wizard just a background and a mouse cursor? Any ideas, bit stuck with this one? Thank you

Could someone take a look at this ztigather log and help me? I'm building machines fine - so the server is working. But when it gets to the database section of it all it seems to loose connection and cannot find the share. Can anyone help? Or tell me why? Thanks Gareth

Hi all, I would like to run WSUSoffline during my OS deployment task. (its currently looks at MS for updates) How easy is it do this?

MDT is driving me nuts as I rebuild this server. When trying to get the database sorted I am getting the following error when trying to allocate db_datawriter and db_datareader - never had this issue before. Tempted just to throw it all in the bin and start again. I'm far from an expert on this - and am about to Google but maybe someone has seen it. Regards Gareth

Hey All Hope you're all enjoying this groggy summer. Really hoping I can get some advice of those who are in the know. Basically we run MDT to deploy all our machines images, I decided to create a much needed update to our very old images and installed a clean OS with all the software we use in the school. I created this on a Lenovo AIO machine and captured the image and uploaded it to MDT. I have imported all the latest drivers for all our machines around the school (Predominantly Dell) I sourced these from Dell's .CAB website which allows you to download all the drivers and easily import them into MDT which all went fine. I then deployed the image to a bunch of machines we have some Dell 790's, 760, 755, 7010 and 9030 AIO. I have ensured I have all the correct drivers for each model and started to deploy the image only to find that our 790's won't install the drivers properly for some reason it works on every other model just fine but the 790's when they're imaged will show that windows is "Installing Devices" while it's doing this the resolution changes and it all looks good until the computers restart and then no drivers are installed?? I'm really confused and have tried as much as I can possibly think of but I'm kind of stuck as to where to turn now!! Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Does anyone have a way of sending an email at the end of a build to confirm it has been completed?

Hi all Over the summer, I re-imaged one of our IT suites using MDT and WDS. Every machine imaged successfully apart from 2, which reported a DHCP lease issue. This is what happens: PXE Boot over IP4 - WDS Boot Manager shows correct Client/Server IP addresses Download NBP Select operating system - Loads WIM from MDT\WDS server Processing Bootstrap Settings - Gathering Complete It then presents a Wizard Error - A connection to the deployment share could not be made. DHCP Lease was not obtained for any networking device! Possible cause: Check physical connection. If I click cancel, it presents a command prompt. Running ipconfig shows a valid IP address, which is visible in both DHCP and DNS. If I release the IP address, and try again, a correct IP address is picked up on the next try, but the same error occurs. If I renew the IP address, it picks up a correct address. I've tried deleting the IP address from DHCP and DNS - same error. I've even set up a reservation in DHCP, which the machine picks up and uses. Surely this shows that it has obtained a DHCP lease, doesn't it? All the other PCs are identical, have the same BIOS settings, and have had no problems. Any suggestions, anyone?

Hi I'm looking for a way to differentiate between admin, curriculum, teacher and staff laptop devices during the MDT wizard. In a previous company we had an additional screen during the setup wizard with radio buttons with all the different machine types, depending on which one you selected it wrote a key to the registry. From there you could target software based on what that key value was. I'm not sure how they achieved that other than editing the wizard.hta. Does anyone have a similar setup or an alternative way to achieve the goal of only getting software to a particular device type?

Good afternoon all I have a few questions about two of the functions in advanced configuration in MDT. What is the purpose of Media and what is the purpose of the Database? Many thanks Sam

Hey Would anyone have any ideas as to why if i remove DHCP option 044 WINS Server ip my clients are unable to connect to my MDT deployment share? Just set up a onsite DC, a part of the setup was to remove all the WINS DHCP options from all the Vlans. On doing this when trying to image a PC i was getting an MDT error. A connection to the deployment share (\\SRV\Share) cound not be made. Can not reach Deployroot. Possible Cause: Network routing error or network configuration error. The Client would PXE boot, download the boot image. Start loading MDT then fail to connect to the deployment share. MDT server on a different Vlan. If we put the option back it works. I have tried google but cant find anything. What am i missing? Thanks

We're trying to deploy our Windows 10 image use PXE boot, however within the last week or so we've begun getting error messages. We think it's traceable back to a power cut we had a couple of weeks ago over the weekend. Our Deployment server is 2012 R2 and we use the deployment workbench to set up the image. We get through the initial stages ok and begin the image deployment on the PC, but during the install we get an error, see attached picture. This process was set up by a recently left network manager and we're at a bit of a loss how to troubleshoot. We've tried finding the logs but have had little success, as we're not 100% where to look. So any advice, experience, ideas will gratefully received and if anyone's had the same issue in the past and can give a step by step guide how to fix, that's an added bonus, and we'll send lots of virtual chocolate as a thank you.

Just fine tuning my new 1903 image, GPOs, etc along with the MDT Task Sequence but noticed on a couple of older machines that the sequence just stops after the initial windows os install. Reboots and just drops to the desktop - as if it's forgotten what to do next. Then, saw that Windows Defender had blocked a threat!!! The threat being the script that starts the next phase of the sequence! Now, I need to check everything but really.... How has this happened? Pete

I'm trying to set up MDT and WDS, but I'm obviously missing a fundamental basic step. I can deploy a Windows image from WDS and it installs and boots as it should to a test physical machine, but I'm missing something with MDT. I only imported x64 OS as that's what I have available to me at the minute. When I try and update the deployment share it fails as it doesn't find the x86 boot file. I guess because of that, it doesn't pick up the task sequence, so none of my customisations get applied. I think the deployment is still ignoring MDT completely, but I'm not sure what the missing link is.

The basic Question is Does MDT support windows 11, i ask because when looks at the Microsoft documentation windows 11 is not listed.... is it not officially supported? Or did they forget to update the docs? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/mdt/release-notes#supported-platforms The reason i ask, is as we move away from SCCM to Intune, we would like a quick way to PXE and image a machine and install the Intune enrollment package (For machine that don't have an OS or need a clean install), and was wanting to use MDT. Does Microsoft plan to continue to support MDT?

Morning all, Has anyone experimented with the MDT rewrite from 'Friends of MDT'? It isn't an official MS product of course but in a moment of boredom checked the backup of my MDT server and it is good - so am wondering whether to mess about and have a go installing it or building a new server and playing with it. Or maybe on this rainy Sunday morning I'll just go back to bed for a rest. Seriously though, has anyone had a go with it? How bad or good is it? Gareth

Afternoon Everyone, A strange issue has started since upgrading MDT to deploy Feb 2023 Windows 11. We are getting an error messgae: 'Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the quested logon type at this computer.' This happened on the Sept 2023 image as well. I have updated the ADK etc but am still seeing the issue. If I log in as the local admin twice, the deployment continues. A Google search didn't really show anything of use so if anyone has any issues - I'd love to hear them. Many thanks Gareth

I can capture windows 7 images all day using litetouch.wsf works fine. I've just started looking at a windows 10 image and running litetouch.wsf just hangs at the "Processing Bootstrap Settings" screen, nothing in the logs is giving me any clues - is there something I'm missing for Windows 10 / something changed? I'm using MDT 2013 update 1

Can anybody verify that I'm using the correct driver. I'm getting this error and can't seem to get it to work. "A connection to the deployment share (*****deploymentshare$) could not be made. The following networking device did not have a driver installed pci\ven_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_308917AA&REV_04" I'm I using the correct driver according to the error. PCI Vendor and Device Lists Realtek 8111DP DASH All-In-One installation kit for WinXP/Vista/Win7 I'm having a really hard time getting that driver to work. I have also tried http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/thinkcentre-m-series-desktops/thinkcentre-m78?type=Tablets&c=1 I can't get that one to work either It's on Lenovo M78 (10BSS02P00) win 7 x86 Thank you

Hello, So, I've posted about this before however I'm still having problems with it. Basically, I have MDT set up through WDS for imaging machines. Practically every machine in the network will image with no issues aside from these 'ERGO AS1' machines This is what appears on screen; Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 082) Copyright (C) 1997-200 Intel Corporation For Realtek RTL8111B/8111C Gigabit Ethernet Controller v2.10 (071105( CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 90 F5 8C 21 E6 GUID: FFFFFFFF-0C0C-0000-0000-000000000000 PXE-E51: No DHCP or proxyDHCP offers were received. PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM. Why is this? Is there an easy fix? I have to image an entire suite like this and they all have the same issue, if I can't get it to work, I'll have to use the Windows 7 disc! Please help!

Hi All, Trying to use WSIM to create an unattended install. Does anyone have the exact properties I need to insert for English UK? x86_Microsoft-Windows-International-Core-WinPE__neutral INPUT LOCALE SYSTEM LOCALE SETUP UI properties UI LANGUAGE Do I need to put these anywhere else? Also another question, my MAK Serial Key says it's invalid, where should I put this in the answer file? Thanks, Kol.
