We're trying to deploy our Windows 10 image use PXE boot, however within the last week or so we've begun getting error messages. We think it's traceable back to a power cut we had a couple of weeks ago over the weekend. Our Deployment server is 2012 R2 and we use the deployment workbench to set up the image. We get through the initial stages ok and begin the image deployment on the PC, but during the install we get an error, see attached picture. This process was set up by a recently left network manager and we're at a bit of a loss how to troubleshoot. We've tried finding the logs but have had little success, as we're not 100% where to look. So any advice, experience, ideas will gratefully received and if anyone's had the same issue in the past and can give a step by step guide how to fix, that's an added bonus, and we'll send lots of virtual chocolate as a thank you.

Every now and then one of our PCs will completely fail to apply any group policies. In the event viewer Windows\System log we get the following: When logging in the user doesn't get any mapped drives etc (we first noticed it when users reported SIMS didn't work). The machine then won't apply policies for any users until I do a gpupdate /sync and restart. What's odd is the gpt.ini link in the error message is clickable - and when I click it, the file opens, so there is obviously communication occurring. I can also ping both DCs and browse to NETLOGON and SYSVOL. We have the same Windows 10 image (1703 Education) on everywhere, and the issue has cropped up on a couple of different models of machine. It's not reliably happening on the same machines either.

Hi all, resident newbie here ashamedly only logging in when I want something from the wise-folk, I hope you none of you are offended! Okay the situation: After experiencing the usual horrors that can only occur during the first few weeks of September, things had (finally) started to calm down to an almost pleasant "mildly annoying" level. Then, we reach this afternoon and each of our Windows Servers seemingly just grind to a halt and die one by one. There didn't seem to be any particular order to this; we get initial reports of the Internet being a bit slower than normal (during the morning), then we lose Internet connectivity altogether, file server starts to die (still pingable, but not able to remote in), followed by the rest (DC, DHCP etc etc). We had had this problem once before, I'd tried: * testing for broadcast storms: - We have a switch that has a handy little LED display that shows network utilisation, we plug this into our core switch and begin unplugging fibre modules to see if we can narrow down cabinets with high sources of traffic - no luck * testing extrernal access - plugged a laptop (static IP/GW) directly into our router could access T'Internet fine * rebooting virtual servers: - tried doing this via a remote session only to find that all my existing remote sessions (open near permanently) had died - tried accessing the console in XenCenter itself only to find that it was barely responsive and would not let me in - initially did a (nice) shutdown on said servers to try and minimise any damage - afer waiting 30 mins, gave up and did a force shut down (which worked quite quickly) - Linux (web) servers seemed unaffected and would happily let me shut them down from the console without any problems Only shutting everything down and rebooting our hosts and slowly bringing everything else back up seemed to work. This I had to do today, but don't relish the idea of doing it again... * possibilities - hardware is fairly new (hosts: Dell Poweredge R710's SAN: Dell PowerVault MD6300i), but we only have ONE iSCSI port plugged in (this is how I inhereted it, I want to get the other plugged in but don't know enough about this yet to try - thet "if it works/worked don't change it (yet)" mentality etc. I understand that it has worked like this for ages...) - we are running XenCenter 6.0.2 and due to update it soon, but I can't see as this would affect anything that majorly (not after we've already been using it for so long) Any ideas of where I should start? Thanks in advance!!

I have been having lots of issues with WSUS in pretty much most of my schools lately (I look after about 10) whereby clients are not reporting in and it is only being fixed by running a troubleshooter manually (sometimes on wired only too if it's a laptop). Obviously it would be impractical to do this manually on every single machine. Is there a way or a script I can use that will automatically run the troubleshooter (which is a diagcab file) which should then fix a lot of my issues? I have a mix of schools running either 2008R2 or 2012 or 2012R2 all to Windows 7 clients

I have been fiddling around with this for a while on my school already, first things I did with the teacher before it failed somehow: We went to clean it up and check why it had such a dim light production (appeared to be a bad lamp afterwards), we took it apart, not much force applied, used a air compressor to get all dirt and debris blown out, when it was all together and back on it's overhead support, it started up fine, but the teacher just couldn't shut it down. They tried all basic things, check power, remote control and anything else. The status indicators are just showing up normal, power indicator is just red, indicating it should be all good to turn on, and the lamp replace warning is still on too. I disassembled it last Friday, I re-attached the infrared sensor, even tried a other remote control (they have multiple projectors there, as well as broken ones). I have readed on this very forum something about a thermal reset switch? If so, where is that even located? I greatly appreciate any help!

We seem to be having a problem with some (but not all) of our Windows 10 LTSC 1809 clients, where they are not getting registered in DNS. We're able to manually register affected machines using ipconfig /registerdns but it would be useful to be able to troubleshoot this and find out why it is happening. Can anyone suggest what we might try?

Hello sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong thread. I am a young entrepreneur and I recently purchased a datacard "image card select" card printer for my business. I bought it used and unfortunately it did not come with a software disk. I am either trying to run this printer on a Mac or windows. What software do I need to allow me to print? P.S. I plan on hiring a graphic designer to create my images on Adobe illustrator or Indesign. So I don't need a software to create identification cards I just need a software to allow me to print with my card printer. Below is a link to am image of my card printer (same model) https://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=AwrB8pzij1lUHBkAMDSJzbkF;_ylu=X3oDMTIyNzJjOWtyBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDaW1nBG9pZAM4NDEwNWI3Mzk1NWYwZTgwMzA4OTY0YWYwYWQyOTY3YQRncG9zAzkEaXQDYmluZw--?back=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Ddatacard%2Bimage%2Bselect%26fr%3Dipad%26fr2%3Dpiv-web%26tab%3Dorganic%26ri%3D9&w=300&h=221&imgurl=i.ebayimg.com%2F00%2Fs%2FMTE3OVgxNjAw%2Fz%2Fcb8AAOxyHE5RoQHq%2F%24T2eC16F%2C%21%29sE9swm%28uVnBRoQHph%29tg%7E%7E60_35.JPG&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FDataCard-ImageCard-Select-Advanced-Imaging-ID-Card-Printer-NO-Print-Ribbon-%2F310692973245&size=12.5KB&name=%3Cb%3EDataCard%3C%2Fb%3E-ImageCard-%3Cb%3ESelect%3C%2Fb%3E-Advanced-Imaging-ID-Card-Printer-NO-Print+...&p=datacard+image+select&oid=84105b73955f0e80308964af0ad2967a&fr2=piv-web&fr=ipad&tt=%3Cb%3EDataCard%3C%2Fb%3E-ImageCard-%3Cb%3ESelect%3C%2Fb%3E-Advanced-Imaging-ID-Card-Printer-NO-Print+...&b=0&ni=21&no=9&ts=&tab=organic&sigr=13gr2n25e&sigb=13amoq1jc&sigi=12tll2jc4&sigt=12l9vlj1s&sign=12l9vlj1s&.crumb=bI4iKx/HxYH&fr=ipad&fr2=piv-web

Hi, I bought a Sanyo PLC-XE20 projector last year, I fitted a new bulb and reset the counter lamp counter, it has had 200 hours mas use since. When I now turn it on it goes to the blue start up screen and a 30 second countdown begins. At this point the only button I can press to get the picture up is the on/off button, I press this once and the computer/dvd/playstation video comes up and the counter disappears, so I can see everything going on like open programmes and mouse movement. But when the 3- seconds are up it just shuts down and the fan goes into overdrive really loud. The red power light flashes for a minute then it goes into standby mode. I have cleared it all out and rid it of dust, no warning or replace lamp light is on so im really stuck at an end here, I have the user manual so thats also been no help. Has anyone got a quick fix I can undertake or know what the problem is at all. All help is greatly appreciated.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot why a Mac won't shut down or restart (without forcibly holding down the power button)? We're pretty sure the cause is some software or configuration profile or setting we have installed, as it doesn't happen on a clean macOS with only Jamf and Sophos endpoint on it, but trying removing things and adding them back on one by one hasn't illuminated the culprit. Is there any log file or "log show" predicates that would help us isolate the cause of this? We're running macOS Monterey, mainly Intel Macs but I have also observed the issue on an M1 Mac Mini. One interesting artefact we noticed is that if we use the Shut Down or Restart buttons from the login window, we briefly see the Fast User Switching animation before the login window comes back again. We're aware that wiping and upgrading/reinstalling macOS will probably make the problem go away but we'd really like to locate the root cause as this category of issue keeps coming back.
