Greetings All, I wasn't sure where to post this and 'Hardware' seemed the most appropriate, though 'Jobs' might also do... My Line Manager has tasked me with finding out about Certified Hardware Maintenance courses; not online, but actual 'hands-on'. I was wondering what sort of courses colleagues on this forum might have attended that might be appropriate? I'm looking at 'general maintenance and repair' non-proprietary e.g. any brand (though mainly Lenovo and HP), laptops, monitors etc. I've looked around but not really been able to find anything - I might even have to go bespoke, and this might also be more appropriate to an apprenticeship stlye of learning. In fact, I suspect the intention is to bring in an Apprentice with the intention of carrying out regular in-house repairs. For reference, I did the CompTIA A+, back in 2006/7 and a Computing HNC in 2010, neither of these were practical 'hands-on' courses. I suspect that most of us only attempt to repair items that are out of warrantee and you've got nothing to lose by trying out a repair, when the alternative is the scrap-heap. So if anyone knows of any practical, hands-on, general hardware repair/maintenance courses, I would be very much obliged if you could share your thoughts. Many thanks!

Please help We run WDS Native, We deploy XP As legacy images. I know that in the options on the client after F12 you can select Maintenance And Troubleshooting, microsoft say you can add tools to here like BIOS flash, Anti-virus scanning and memory scanning etc. This would really be usefull on our network if only i knew how to add these tools and set them up especiallythe bios flash, due to a known fault some motherboards we have. I have looked everywhere on the internet but to on avail, Does anyone know how this can be done your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nick, Could I make a suggestion for a new feature please, would it be possible to build a maintenance page for Home Access Plus please, this would enable administrators to put the site into maintenance to enable work to be carried out or disable users to access the site while network maintenance is being carried out. If this feature could display a page that is configurable so we can put a message on for users so they know the site is under maintenance and then allow us to take the site out of maintenance mood when work complete. Let me know if this can be done. Many thanks Nick

I'm having a problem with my SQL Driver, I'm trying to do an accounts check on 'Quality System Maintenance', but when I run it, it comes up with this error: When I log onto my predecessors account and run it, it works fine, but only on his account. can anyone help me please to change these details so I don't have to keep switching accounts? Thank you.

Promethean have traditionally only ever provided LCD projectors with our Interactive Whiteboards (up until the release of the PRM25 DLP Projector earlier in 2009), and there are several ways in which you can extend the life of your projector, most notably outlined in this document on our knowledgebase: http://uk.prometheankb.com/article.asp?article=203769&p=10121 There is a filter warning built into the Promethean driver. This is there to try and help reduce costs, and extend the life of your LCD projector. A lot of schools do stick to a ‘regime’ whereby they will clean the filters on their projectors regularly, but there are also a lot of schools out there who either a) don’t know about the filters at all, or b) don’t realise that without cleaning them, their projector will not perform efficiently or indeed economically! If you are one of the schools that have a regime that is working for you, there is an option within the driver to turn this message off completely, or extend the time period between the message being shown.

Hello, We have recently had someone bring in a projector (epson emp-x5) that has had a bulb put in it about a year ago. I have cleaned the dust out. It however, shows a flashing purple patch on the screen when it is on a light background (such as a word document). Is there anyone that could have a solution for this? Thank you.

Hi, My first post on here, but would appreciate any advice anyone can offer. Since cleaning a few of our Sony VPL-EX7s (filter and general dusty exterior) with an air compressor, the picture is MUCH more blurry and generally darker. It looks as if the lamp is now on it's last legs. But the projectors are less than 6 months old, so I'd say the likeliness of the lamp life being an issue is very slim. I'm suspecting something I did while cleaning has caused an issue. Perhaps a displacement of dust, or air pressure pushing an internal mechanism out of alignment? All of these projectors were off when cleaned, but I'm worried I didn't leave sufficient time for it to cool before I went at it with the compressor, so this could be an issue. Let just say I won't be using an air compressor next time... I'd like to resolve this one myself, but a bit of guidance would be great before I start taking them apart - there is still warranty on all devices, but I don't think this is something Sony would support. Any suggestions to what this problem could be? And is there a maintenance manual available for this projector? Many thanks in advance. Dan
