Hi, I was wondering if anyone has run into a problem where when you attempt to remote onto a students device in Impero, it attempts to connect (says Connecting) and then times out. What is strange, is this is only effect any wireless device.. devices on a wired connection connect perfectly first time. Nothing has been changed on our Aruba wireless controller - it has randomly stopped working. Impero server version is currently 8.6.37 Any recommendations would be great!

Hi, I'm just trying to work our whether this only happens for us ( we have 4 completely separate environments all have this issue) or if it happens to a lot of users of EdPro but just don't report it to Impero. As if it affects multiple people I would like go to Impero to say it's not just us. We have had an issue for years where the ImperoClientSVC service refuses to start with the error "The service did not respond in a timely fashion', Impero used to blame it was corrupt net framework and repairing .net and reinstalling Impero fixes. What I found is a simple restart will kick the ImperoClientSVC service back into life but I can't work out what causes it not to start. I'm sure there is an issue with service somewhere but would just like to see if anyone else has this issue or not. I can't see it being .net corrupt when every other service on the device works, we have it across 4 different networks and between Windows 10 and Windows 11. It's annoying as its not the easiest to work out since Impero shows the device as offline you can't just know tell since the device might actually be turned off. I've had to use SCCM and try to cross reference Impero saying a device is offline to SCCM. We've also had some issues with the installer getting stuck sometimes but that's another conversion. As this is so frustrating for us, as if the client doesn't start then students can bypass all of the EdPro controls and the kid isn't going to want to restart their device to fix it. Thanks

We're long time users of Impero Education Pro and have been very happy with the product, has it's issues but overall does exactly what we want it to. They seem to be pushing StudentKeeper at Bett and we now have a demo with them next week. What's anyone else opinion on the new product, have you seen it or had a demo as I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere other than themselves? Their new Ativion website is very basic and doesn't give much insight to what the product does or offers and whether it's a replacement to EdPro or not. Thanks!

We have PCE running here on 150 machines but very unhappy on it's reliability. Previously it was bad but for some reason seems to have gotten worse since changing their name to Future Digital. I often see posts about Impero and their site looks good but how does it work? I'm assuming the client runs on the workstation and the server collects the info. Is the server in the cloud or a machine in the school? What else can Impero do what PCE can't? At the moment all we're after is to monitor computer usage and capture any misuses so any info on the joys of Impero would be welcome and also how does it compare in costs against PCE? Thanks.

We are trying to sort our filtering. (Using both Impero and SWGFL) I've sorted out internet explorer add on problem. (wasn't automatically turning Impero add-on on so it wasn't filting it) Now there using google chrome to access website we blocked via impero? Is there a way impero can work with google chrome? (we need to use Google chrome for GCSE work so blocking chrome wont work)

Is there a way you can create a Custom Report based on the groups I have setup in the console, eg Staff, KS2, Year4 etc. Ideally I would like a set of reports for several groups that can be exported and sent to SLT that includes the last weeks violations.

We've got some recordings of some students messing around on the computers, but we're unable to open the .irf format that Impero chucks out. Does anyone know a way of either converting them or playing them back? We're on version v5.3.32 EDIT: Found the playback feature, any way of converting it to a more usable format?

Hi All, Just wondering has anyone had any issues with the Impero Client on Macs? We have an example where if a teacher logs into the Mac then they cannot access the Impero Console, but they can if they are on a Windows device? Do Macs have to be added via Device (as well as User?)? What I dont want to do is add the Mac to the "Access Rights Console" and then this lets students access the console - even though we have a password set up. Also on another note - has anyone seen the issue where Impero icon in the taskbar on the Mac quickly flashes up and then disappears again? Which then causes the Mac to hang for a second or two - really annoying when you are typing and the device just hangs for a second or 2. Thanks

Hello, Just recently we have upgraded our Impero to V8.5.92 and since this we have had issues whenever we take over a computer where the mouse stops working, now it isnt much of an issue where the laptops are concerned due to us being able to use a USB mouse to reinstall the driver and fix it however we do not have much luck when it comes to our staff who all have Surface Go 2 where there is no USB input. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue with impero and what have they done to solve it, do we just wait until a new version which patches this bug comes out? Thanks in advance BL

Not too sure if any knows the answer but I have been ask to install impero on the Citrix Servers so the teacher can see each connection. Is anyone aware if this can be done and if it can be done what should I look out for? Just found this information Citrix Xen Desktop: Base template and a cloned desktop pool Install the Imperclientsetupxxxx.msi to the base image. If you want the name of the thinclient to report back to Impero console you will need to install Citrix tools. Static Virtual Machine Install the Imperclientsetupxxxx.msi to each static virtual machine in use. Citrix Xen App: For published desktops: Deploy Impero client to the Xen App server using the Citrix recommended install practices For Application publishing: This is currently an unsupported configuration for Impero. It has not been tested and is therefore not currently supported.

Hello, Is anybody else having issues with Impero 3 that means that the program is appearing to be altering the proxy settings for the local system account, which means that applications, such as Symantec EndPoint Protection aren't able to access our Internal Symantec Server to be able to download updates? Symantec works perfectly fine on every other machine with Impero 3 (Impero 2 was fine). What we've done is used the PSExec Tool (from SysInternals) to run Internet Explorer under the local system account and unticked use Proxy. I've noticed though on a few machines that it appears to have reverted the proxy server settings again breaking Symantec updates. Thanks, Rob

We have a problem on our CC3 Workstations whereby we want to upgrade our IE6 ( yes IE6 ) however we have created and allocated IE8 as per the instructions from RM, this side worked fine, and IE8 installed perfectly from what we could see. We use Impero 2.3.0, we can logon to the CC3 machine fine, as soon as we load up IE8 a small window appears as below: http://www.colfox.org/images/Impero_IE8_Issue.jpg If anyone has any ideas about this, please do reply, suggestions are welcome

Were rolling out Impero very soon would just like to know what the thoughts are of people who have or who are using it within schools for example The pros/cons?

Finding workload a little low at the moment so picking up random things to try and improve. Impero is wonderful in classrooms, speed seems to be good, but when data is crossing vlans it's really sluggish. A direct example, when I'm viewing from a console to a server on a flat network (a primary I look after) the bandwidth monitor will sit around 3000/3500KBps and everything is smooth, even video playback on the console. However here on our more complicated setup it barely touches 1000KBps and access from a machine outside the vlan is often very choppy. It's nothing major, nothing dealbreaking but would like to see if I can do something to help it.

Hi Guys, new problem. We have Kaspersky security 8 across the school computers, however the antivirus has added ImperoClient and Impero Winlogon Application to the 'Untrusted' list. How can I move them to the Trusted list? Thanks

Before deploying bear in mind: Prerequisites: Impero Education Pro v6.0.42+ Requires .NET 4.6 Framework or higher for both Impero Server & Client to install. To upgrade to the latest version, raise a request with the Impero support team via E-Mail or the Impero customer portal.

Hi All, We've been trying to use Impero (5.2.10) for our Prevent and Safeguarding strategies by enabling the keyword policies and viewing violations however there seems to be much functionality missing or incomplete that make it unsuited for our needs. For example applying any sort of filter to the reports returns zero results and you can't select a group or multiple policies to report on - instead we'd need to run a report for every keyword policy (about 10) and then manually combine the data. Oh and don't even get me started on the 'export' option when viewing a report in Log Viewer - the most pointless button I've ever seen. It all just seems very poorly thought through and cobbled together without much insight into how the end user may actually need to use it. Has anyone successfully implemented anything with Impero where the reports are of any tangible use and which doesn't involve hours of time compiling stats yourself? I have asked Impero but it's been a day since sending my email and I have still haven't received even an acknowledgment of my message so support are their usual speedy selves. Thanks Ryan

Morning, Monday we requested the latest version of Impero from Ativion, which they released, and our Impero Server says "Latest Server Allowed 8.6.38" and "Latest Client Allowed 8.6.38". For some reason it didn't properly download the updates to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Impero Solutions Ltd\Impero Server\Updates folder, so I have manually downloaded the update ZIP file and extracted the two MSI files in to that folder. In the server interface, on the "Connections" tab all the devices are "Active", and on the "Automatic Updates" tab, everything is ticked and "Update at any time" is selected. Our firewall isn't showing any blocked traffic. Nothing is updating automatically though. I have logged a ticket and they've given me a couple of things to try but now basically gone "Dunno, maybe push it out via GP?". If the mechanism is there to auto update, I rather feel they should support that so will be going back to them again, but wondered if anyone had any other things I could look at? Thank you Stuart

Hi guys, I'm trying to find a school that has Impero implemented correctly and by that, i mean, not just as a 'techie tool' but the full safeguarding shebang! Is there anyone out there who has the procedures in place to deal with all the captures, false-positives and general safeguarding issues that arise from the use of the software? If there is, i'm ultimately looking to come and see it in operation but i'm also up for some discussion. Thanks in advance
