We have a problem on our CC3 Workstations whereby we want to upgrade our IE6 ( yes IE6 ) however we have created and allocated IE8 as per the instructions from RM, this side worked fine, and IE8 installed perfectly from what we could see. We use Impero 2.3.0, we can logon to the CC3 machine fine, as soon as we load up IE8 a small window appears as below: http://www.colfox.org/images/Impero_IE8_Issue.jpg If anyone has any ideas about this, please do reply, suggestions are welcome

when staff accounts goto wordle.net/create and then press "create" this then loads java and works fine. however when a student account goes to wordle.net/create and then presses create nothing happens!. im guessing its a problem with java but im unsure where to start with it. any advice or soltuons would be great we are using IE8 thanks, ITHelp.

Hello, I have a number of machines that I am going to upgrade to IE8 from IE6. My question is - If i import the adm file for IE8 into GPMC before ive upgraded all of the stations, will this new adm still control the settings for IE6? (Homepage proxy etc etc.)

Afternoon everyone, my first thread so be gentle. Just wondering the people who use PCE from forensic software have started rolling out IE8. Just a warning if your thinking about it DONT. From my experience on the 10 new machines we got, PCE does not like IE8, it causes slow internet access(even for bgfl lol) and after 10 to 15 minutes IE freezes on the loading page. If you try to close IE it will normally crash. Lots of fun I know, got in touch with forensic software and having a remote session with one of there engineers to figure out the problem but Paul said a couple of schhols in Birmingham are suffering this proble. Any way just to let you know.

Hi All, I've had a hunt around but can't see a solution to installing an ie8 addon on all school computers. I was hoping Group Policy Preferences would allow me to manually install it. The addon I'm looking at is here; Click CEOP Button - Add-ons Gallery Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello, Got a strange one, i dont know if anyone has come across this before. I had a couple of laptops, clean builds, put them on a Server 2003 domain. They where windows XP SP3 with IE8. Logged onto the domain, rebooted and logged in as a user. Everytime I login as a new user I recieve the following error : "A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer." You then click on "OK", it opens up the Manage-Add ons windows, you click ok and never returns for that particular user on that particular machine" I have tried all the fixes on google with adding a registry key, which already exists, and setting a GPO to stop the change to the search provider with no joy.

Hi, Had a problem about a month ago where users would go to print from IE and they would get a blank print prieview, and upon printing get a blank page with "//file\\c:\username\appdata\....." microsoft suggested a fix that was manual (You cannot print or print preview Web pages in Internet Explorer on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 This was not practical for roaming profiles / large amounts of users, so i wrote this little script that runs at logon. @ECHO off If not exist %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low ( echo. echo Creating Low Folder... mkdir %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low ) echo. echo Apply Integrity Level... echo. ICACLS "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low" /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low exit Applied as a GP Logon script works a treat and solved all the issues. Hope its useful for someone. Psy

Hi I am thinking about upgrading from IE7 to IE8 with Server 2003 - but does anyone know if Polreg.msi will still work - I had some problems which I had to overcome, but it is great being able to do registry changes via Group Policy.

Just been reading through the good old Microsoft Education Blog and there seems to be quite a hullabaloo about schools still running IE6 web applications and methods that they can use to upgrade to IE8 and still run these older applications. As such what I was wondering are they actually any schools out there that are having this problem? Personally our only real internal web apps are our security cameras viewer, a SharePoint site and a WordPress based internal home page so IE8 was no problem at all.

Hiya Up until a couple of months ago we were running IE6 on all our PCs but an update or updates to moodle developed problems with editing courses. with this in mind we updated to IE8 (we bypassed IE7 as in general it seemed much slower than 8 and had previously decided to give it a miss). We then developed the problem of accessing WebDAV, i quickly found the solution either on here or Moodle User Groups to set up a web location, which worked apart from the folder view was all numbers. I didnt realise at the time how many teachers used the webdav method to upload multiple files, and they really dont like the numbers and having to reference the number of the course to the folder they upload too. I can understand their frustrations and wonder if anyone has found a solution/ reason/ cause for this and if it can be changed. Thanks in advance DaveT

Hi I just wondered if anyone had any updated dates for release of internet explorer 8 on WSUS yet? I have been looking for ages and a while ago people said end of july but nothing has appeared yet. Cheers
