Thanks - fingers crossed - 1st test worked OK. Anything to get rid of Firefox. I am using GPO to control Chrome - but it's the firewall that is the issue with GoogleUpdate as it did not allow for proxies. Good eh? It isn't the fastest install going - but if it enables me to get rid of that memory intensive Firefox I'll be happy!

Hi Google Chrome 15 for Business now allows you to install behind a firewall by switching off Google Update at install. However you have to use the line msiexec /i GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi NOGOOGLEUPDATEPING=1 How do I get GoogleChrome to roll out over a network using Active Directory as usually when I try to alter something I do a network /a install and alter the files contained within. thanks in advance James

Hi Just happened today - students logged into their accounts. As admin I can't access their files whilst they are logged in - even on the server. I do wonder if someone has changed something, or Win 2008R2 updates have caused something to happen. thanks James

Hi H: which is what the folder share is set to in AD and works in XP doesn't work in Win 7. Have taken out net share h: /home in the script too. Other drives map fine either by script or using AD. Just not the home folder. No issues at all in XP. J.

Hi The RunWord.cmd I found with XP I had to add in more to the AppPath - yet it works straight away with Win 7. The additional to the AppPath I had to add was c:\program files\microsoft\microsoft - rest OK...

Hi We run a mix of XP and Win 7. On the profiles in AD it is set that the home folder is H: \\server\%username%$ and on login a bat file that states net share H: /home this works in XP - but in Win 7 H:\ is not set to the home share. Yet the Documents folder is linked OK. Any thoughts?

Hi I had a batch script that was converted to an EXE that searched for different versions of Office programs and then opened the right one. e.g. for Word it would look for say Office14\Word.exe - if so would run it and end - if not it would continue and look for Office13\Word.exe and end and so on. Could someone please write me the basics for this to find a program of one version, if not to open the other version.

On Printers Script Policy - Loopback processing mode is set to Merge There is no Loopback enabled on Student GPO Domain Policy is down at Number 16 on the list on the machine for precedence. Everything else above it. If I set Enforced to on should that make it work for sure? I just don't want to experiment too much and take out the network with everyone using it. Working in a small school we area all out of the building by 6pm and it is closed at weekends so no time to play without hurting anyone!

Hi I know - but it just seems very odd that it is doing this. The same is the issue with Passwords. I want Staff to have a Complex password and Students to be able to set a normal one. Why is Default Domain Policy over-writing everything and yet everything says it shouldn't be. J.

Hi Got the Default Domain GP - Proxy set Set a Student GP - set a different proxy - doesn't work - default domain wins Check GP modelling and Student GP should win through (according to order of preference and results) Is this anything to do with Printer Policy that is set to "merge" policies. J,
