Hi I am just experimenting with some virtualisation. i have setup a VMWare ESXi 6 host and added a couple of VMs. I have installed vSphere on my Windows 7 station and can connect to the ESXi 6 host with no trouble and administer it. I have downloaded and installed Veeam 8 Free. It is installed on my Windows 7 station and the installation went smoothly and it opens and everything appears to be OK. So, when I try to add a server, it asks me for the DNS name or IP address of the VMWare server. I am assuming this is the IP address of the ESXi host which I am entering. Next, it asks me for the server administrators credentials. Are these the credentials of the ESXi host i.e. the root account or the credentails of the machine where vSphere is installed. I would really appreciate any advice on this. Thanks.

Hi, Just wanted get some feedback with regards to SIMS capability (or lack of) for the support for a 4 Term Calendar year, and how that might it's operations, as it is usual geared towards a 3 Term System. In our case we operate on a Jan-Dec Academic Calendar and we were keen to know if we implemented it what issues we might face. In particular for timetabling and report. Please share your experiences and thoughts. Regards, Charles

Can someone answer a question about this product please? I understand what it does and how it does it but every time I mention it to our IT supplier they tell me that for anyone outside AD to access SLG through our VLE will require an Internet Connector licence - these cost around £10K for our site. Now I know Capita aren't averse to making a bit more money but I cannot believe they would sell a product that no-one can use without paying extra to do so?

Hi, I was asked to create MSI package for application created in .NET framework 3.5. Requirement included license key validation and business rules. Shall I use Visual studio 2010 to develop MSI packages. I know very basic on crating MSI package , but not experience on crating packages for enterprise application. I was assigned a project to create packages for the training application developed for the very larger organization having clients all over the world but in my project there is no technical people to guide me. I understand lot tools available in the market, I proposed Visual studio installer project 2010 (Visual studio 2010) since I am a .NET back ground. we can achieve creating MSI package using VS 2010 with incorporating the license key validation and business rules? . I am very much confusing for the tool selection. Kindly help on this.. Thank you very much..

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this sort of question, but I'm going to jump in anyway! We currently have a CC3 network running RM Easymail 2 server and are having the network recommissioned onto new hardware over the summer. One of the primary differences will be that we're migrating to Exchange server. The problem is the migration. RM have provisionally said they can do the bulk of the commissioning etc... w/b 21st July; but they can't do Exchange until Aug 12th. My question is: what's the best solution for receiving mail between the 21st of July and the 12th of August? I don't particularly want to install Easymail again for the sake of a few days - nor do I want the hassle of mailbox migration etc...

Hi All, Was wondering if anyone can help/point me in the right direction... I'm currently having issues with the installation of Exchange 2016 on Server 2016 (with the Desktop experience). We currently have an Exchange 2010 infrastructure in place. (Update) I have done the following commands: setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms setup.exe /PrepareAD /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms setup.exe /PrepareDomain /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms Then setup.exe /Mode:Install /Roles:Mailbox /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms However it fails with the following error: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error: The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); if ( ($server -eq $null) -and ($RoleIsDatacenter -ne $true) ) { Update-RmsSharedIdentity -ServerName $RoleNetBIOSName } " was run: "Microsoft.Exchange.Data.DataValidationException: You can't leave the EmailAddresses parameter value empty. at Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.ADDataSession.Save(ADObject instanceToSave, IEnumerable`1 properties, Boolean bypassValidation) at Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.Recipient.ADRecipientObjectSession.Save(ADRecipient instanceToSave, String callerFilePath, Int32 callerFileLine, String memberName) at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.UpdateRmsSharedIdentity.Link() at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.UpdateRmsSharedIdentity.InternalProcessRecord() at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.b__b() at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.InvokeRetryableFunc(String funcName, Action func, Boolean terminatePipelineIfFailed)". --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've tried restarting and restalling (both via the cmd and the GUI), but it keeps on failing. I've also done a search in AD for any accounts (that look like Exchange accounts) and have typed in e-mail addresses where it was blank: FederatedEmail.... SystemMailbox... (4 of them) But these were shots in the dark as the error doesn't say what accounts... Done searches on TechNet as well as via Bing & Google, no avail... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated Thanks -Ken

We're looking at replacing our old CCTV system with a new IP based sytem, can anybody recommend any suppliers or installation companies in the north west? We're looking at a 32 camera system using indoor and outdoor cameras with motion detection, would prefer low light/night cameras and would need a storage server for the recorded footage.

A late call, but looking to bring it home! It will possibly help the schools' stress, if not mine. We have been hosted for years and I never looked after SIMS then, so I have no idea where to start other than spin up a VM for it. Does anyone have any documents for installing SIMS on a new server, installing some version of SQL, then restoring via a backup.bak file? Anything would help in this darkest hour.... Many thanks in anticipation.

Okay guys, newbie question for the geniuses: Situation: New broadband installation is imminent, only I have been told that because our new firewall & filtering is hosted externally (by new ISP) I am going to have change our entire network address range so that it doesn't conflict with another schools network. (Never thought this would be a problem being a private range, how wrong I was...) Question: For someone who's never done anything like this before, what's the best way of going about making all of these changes? Are there any things I need to really watch out for? Any advice anyone could give would be much appreciated!

Hello, We've not upgraded for a bit and now we need to it's proving complicated! We want to upgrade to Snow Leopard on our Macbooks so we can install Mavericks however the licensing issues are proving to be a bit confusing. I don't seem to be able to find a license for Education that allows the OS to be installed on more than one computer. We only have two! Where can we buy it? How can this process be made simpler?!

Hi, Im trying to get Blender (2.77a) installed on a Microsoft network. The problem the tech team has had is that once installed it doesn't obey group policies (it's an .exe, not a .msi) and students can access the whole network and C: drive through the load/save interfaces. Is there a way to get Blender to obey group settings or another way to let it run and save only to a students home drive. Thanks

Now that the final release of Windows XP mode and Windows Virtual PC is here, I can begin to think about migrating up our music tech PCs - many of which are still on XP as the head of music is too tight to pay for the new (vista-compatible) versions of software they run. I installed Windows Virtual PC and the default XP mode image last night - though instead of having to install all our music tech applications from scratch into that default image, I wondered if I could boot the virtual machine from our WDS server and install the XP SP3 image we already have to make deployment even easier. While the Virtual PC will boot happily from WDS and launch into the installation boot image, it doesn't seem to want to display the XP image we have readily available on the server. I can see the three Windows 7 images I have on there (staff, student and a vanilla Enterprise image) but the VM stubbornly ignores the Windows XP one - won't even display it to choose it - yet when I boot into the installation boot image on physical machines around the network, I can see it and select it! Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I suspect I'm having a bit of a moment and missing something really obvious, but the mind is blank as to a possible cause right now! Ta in advance!

I've just created an article on the wiki describing the steps necessary to set up RT on Ubuntu 6.06. The setup I describe sets up RT to authenticate against the active directory and retrieve email from a googlemail pop3 account. I don't go into any detail about setting up an outgoing smtp server, as the system makes use of the local sendmail service, so if you want to alter that you will have to look elsewhere I'm afraid. Hi I'm trying to deploy Activ Inspire Suite v2.7.66643, I've used a network install and have a couple of question are the drivers not included anymore in the suite and need a separate download / install? (last install I did was 2.3) when using the ASTransGen.exe tool and admin.ini, for the setting "key 3: shared ressources path" does this path /network share need to be accessible during the installation? (I'll install it from sccm and this share won't be present during install) If so is there a way to change it later (registry key in the current user profile for example?) thanks a lot.

I installed Windows 10 Education successfully on an HP Laptop while hard wire connected to our school's network, setup a local Admin account, renamed the laptop and added it to our school domain. All very good. However, when logging in as the System administrator I have limited access to a load of things, specifically the Control Panel only shows the sound icon and nothing else. Cannot see or find User Accounts or anything else. Any ideas?

I've nicked this post from elsewhere. The BSI have produced a specification of interest to all those who have stuff installed in classrooms and similar places. If you didn't know, some libraries will allow a download of the BS in certain circumstances (Hampshire for example!). PAS 122:2009 Specification for the installation of audiovisual equipment in classrooms and general publicly accessible areas This Publicly Available Specification (PAS) specifies requirements for the correct and safe implementation of audiovisual installations. This PAS was written to give end users and customers a level of confidence and assurance when purchasing audiovisual (AV) installation services. PAS 122 provides requirements for the installation of AV equipment in a wide variety of settings. It is intended as a reference point for AV and electrical installers to ensure that the quality and standards of installations are raised to a sustainable level where any customer can be aware that specific criteria are being met. In particular it has been noted over the past number of years that resellers of interactive whiteboards and AV equipment use third party sub-contractors to install their equipment. It has become apparent following completion of a number of audits that there are no strict guidelines relating to how the installations are carried out and that the processes employed by suppliers and subcontract staff differed greatly. This adds to the risk as, in a few isolated cases, installs have been carried out without adhering to the appropriate processes. As such, the primary aim of this specification is to provide a framework that helps to ensure increased safety and analysis/management of risks, whilst also demonstrating due diligence in these areas. Ultimately, an objective of this specification is to provide a means of assessment and certification in order to assure the users and wider industry of compliance with best practice. Wherever possible and where appropriate the equipment and installation processes should have measureable performance figures that can be validated by appropriate assessors and auditors. This PAS is not a training document and therefore a suitably trained and or competent engineer is required to be able to carry out work to these guidelines. It is assumed that the installer will have the relevant knowledge and understanding of the market place to suit the installation that is being undertaken. A series of annexes include the following information for illustrative purposes: * Further information on the technology referred to in this document * Guidance on optical radiation safety * A sample site survey document (pre-installation) * Sample code of conduct * A sample static load test * A mechanical stability and static balance test * General guidance for using whiteboards and projectors. * A sample post installation document. Although most of the above documents are samples for whiteboard and projector implementations this PAS is not restricted to this type of technology. It is intended to cover the many differing existing and emerging technologies used in the audio visual world. PAS 122 does not specify requirements for the training of installation engineers. It is for use by audio visual installation companies in the UK who provide installations comprising of a significant AV component such as, but not limited to, computers, projectors, whiteboards, plasma screens, LCD screens, loud speakers (both wall and ceiling mounted) and light arrays to the public and private sectors and their end users. Contents of PAS 122 include: * Foreword * Introduction * Scope * Normative references * Terms and definitions * Abbreviations * Health and safety * Working at height * Asbestos * Electrical safety * Hazards * Optical radiation safety * Pre install * Site survey * Risk assessment of works to be carried out * Customer actions * Installer conduct * Installation * Health and safety * Fixings and brackets * Structural considerations * Electrical considerations * Cabling considerations * Post install * Commissioning * Sign off * Audit trail * Annexes * Bibliography PAS 122 was sponsored by Becta, the Government's lead agency for information and communications technology (ICT) in education.

I am having some problems installing MRBS on a Redhat box with MySql. I am sure it is a stupid config issue but don't know where to go with it. MRBS displays ok until I go to login with the following config entry $auth["session"] = "php"; // How to get and keep the user ID.
