I have installed a brand new Server 2008 R2 machine and installed SQL 2008 on it ready for migrating our SIMS install to SQL 2008 this summer. Following Microsoft's Best Practice Guide Separate database and transaction log files on different drives for optimal performance and disaster recovery I have three separate RAID volumes on this server. RAID 1 for system / C drive, RAID 5 for Data and RAID 5 for Logs I have set up SQL 2008 to use the separate drives for Data and Logs as default for new databases and confirmed that these settings are correct in the Server Database properties page through SQL Server Management Studio. However, when running the SIMSInst.exe to install SIMS SQL Server parts on this machine it always copies the SIMS database and log files into the SQL Program folder on the C Drive. How do I get the SIMS installer to put its database and log files in the correct default locations as specified in SQL Server? Jon

Hello, I have a weird problem with our SQL 2008 server that hosts SIMS (it was SQL 2005 before, but we migrated it to try and solve this problem, it didn't) We had Capita remote-in to install hosted SIMS Learning Gateway. They ran a tool to create a new user in SIMS to allow ADP to work. However, after creating it, we couldn't login. We went into SQL Management Studio to try and change the password, but when we tried to get into the properties for the newly created account we got this message: Cannot show requested dialog. (SqlMgmt) Property IsLocked is not available for Login '[CGSadp.client]'. This property may not exist for this object, or may not be retrievable due to insufficient access rights. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo) This was connecting logged on as administrator with a trusted connection. If we tried to login as sa, we got this: Login failed for user 'sa'. (Microsoft SQL Error: 18456) If we tried to go into properties for sa, it gave the same message as above. Thanks, David

Hopefully, once again, someone can help. We have the ever so wonderful Corero finance package from Civica. I have had on and off issues with it for the last year and all was running smoothly until today. Today we have had a user booted from the software every 5 or so minutes due to an SQL issue. Every time. The support desk are very slow in responding and I have very little understanding of how it all works and an even smaller understaning of SQL. I managed to get our finance officer to screencap and error that she recieved and hoped it would help to shed some light. I have check network connections, cables, event viewer notifications and the like with very little information to go on I was sorta hoping someone on here might be able to help... Hi all, Just wondering whether there is a SIMS server installation guide on SupportNet? I can find all sorts of workstation related literature, but nothing for the server side of things. I have set up my server with Win 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2, just need to do the SIMS installation now. Any help much appreciated. Cheers, C

Hi All, Sorry to keep posting but i am at a brick wall with a few things and could do with some help i have a html contact form which users fill out.when they submit the form it gets sent as an email and also gets inputted into an SQL table. The problem i have is when ever people use special characters such as ' or " we get a syntax error. as soon as they remove this the form sends. How can i prevent this from happening? Any sort of validation that swaps the special characters for accepted ones? Thanks All
