Hi, Over Christmas I have upgraded our Ex2003 to Ex2007 and it all went very smoothly. Our remote users can login fine using the https://mail.Schoolname/owa. The old server used to do OWA through the url https://mail.schoolname/exchange and this is where I'm having a problem. I would like to set up a redirect if possible, so any user using the /exchange url gets an automatic redirect to the /owa url. We dont use an ISA server, so would need to do this via the IIS on the 2k8 server if it is at all possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Graham

I am migrating Eclipse .NET to a VM from a physical host which is to be retired. The re-installation of the server went swimmingly and the database conenction seemed to go fine. The database is till on its original server (which isn't due for retirement yet). The only problem is that I simply receive 'Service Unavailable' when I try to browse the Eclipse.NET pages Now IMHO this seems like a .NET problem or possibly just IIS being a bit of a pain. I have tried reinstalling IIS, the .NET frameworks and Eclipse.NET but it still doesn't work. I do get a couple of IIS/.NET related errors in the event log but these just mention performance data. The only other thing that is different is that I am now using Server 2003 Std x64 rather than Server 2003 Std x86. Surely this cannot be the problem though?

Does anyone have any experience with URL Rewrite on IIS 8.5? I am attempting to redirect any requests to Frog onto Frog and not really having any real success. The rewrite rule I currently have is: However all it seems to do is set the address to http://www.coombeshead.com/vle.coombeshead.com

We have a new website in our DMZ. This works fine however internally it can take up to 2 mins to resolve/display the page using a shortcut on Staff Desktops. I have checked DNS and NSLookup and all resolves fine. Sometimes the page will display instantly, but more often than not, the pages takes a good while especially if it is the first time used that day. Can anyone think of any steps I have missed. We have a Cisco ASA Firewall, maybe I need something added in there? Any advice appreciated. The site is the school MIS 3Sys system. Externally the site works fine and it works fine if I specify IP address rather than domain name.

Good morning all, We're trying to demote our old domain controller (Which I will call DC-OLD for this) however whenever we turn the server off, no one can access their folders, you get an error message at the top-left that says "Something went wrong". Users can still log in and authenticate successfully so it must still be connecting to AD somehow. The HAP Server has the new DC as its only DNS Address. Is there something that needs to be changed in the configuration? Thanks in advance for any help! We are stuck. Charlie

We have had a new website developed for us and are in the process of setting it up. It is a PHP based site with MySQL running on a Windows 2008 R2 Server with IIS. Although the website works and can be accessed it is very very very slow to load each page. My thoughts are that it is have trouple connecting efficiently to MySQL however I have very little experience in troubleshooting these issues. The Web Development company we are using are out of ideas. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated - I can PM you the link to the site if needed.

Hoping someone can give me a bit of a clue as to why we are having an issue with logging into OWA. Basically, using Firefox, Opera, Chrome or Safari everything works fine. HOWEVER using IE we are having a annoying but not catastrophic issue. You get the pop up box for username and type in your username and password as per the other browsers. This does not log you in though, it errors and gives the username in the box as the site ie. mail.domain.county.sch.uk\Username it should take you there automatically by putting in DOMAIN\Username. If you put in DOMAIN\username it works. This has only changed within the past few weeks but the person that used to manage all this has been made redundant and now I am in charge and I want to fix it! I am guessing it is an IIS issue but not sure where to start looking or what to change. Thanks for any help/suggestions! T

If I don't solve this in the next week I'm giving up. And I can't give up because I've wasted far too much time on this learning curve already. Ok so I've set up my helpdesk. I think this is server related - or how I've got my IIS set up. Or maybe neither. When I try and access the default website by the ip address of the server it's on, I get a windows logon box. And can't get access to the website unless I put in administrator etc. This is me being ignorant about server setups, but is this a simple thing that anyone can see as to where I'm going wrong - something you have to do on networks? Or is it something I need to trawl over liberum's support again? I don't think it's liberum though, as the helpdesk it working ok as an admin, it's just accessing the actual website. I think. Should I just go back to teaching windsurfing??

I'm sorry to have to ask this but... I'm trying to set up an internal (eventually external too) helpdesk. I've set up Liberum Helpdesk on a machine I've built with Server 2003. I've got it all running fine on a virtual website on the IIS of this server. All I want to do is to be able to either... Link this into our network so I can just put a link into our users' start menu...and eventually (This is the and/or bit), integrate it with our school website. I would like to keep this running on this server due to space issues and also to keep it seperate. I've given it an IP address, but this is where my knowledge fails me drastically because I recieve the error 'Name Error: The domain name does not exist. 'when I try and access the IP address. Can I link this to our web server so that it can redirect users to the helpdesk? And if not how can I just make this server accessible as a link in our program sets so they can log into the helpdesk? Sorry I know it's a beginner question... Thanks for reading this anyway and thank you in anticipation of any help offered!! Laura

Afternoon, this is driving me mad and I know it’s something simple doing this. But my Certification Authority self-service website isn’t working, 404 The page cannot be found error. Now this is strange as any file I put in that root folder 'C:\Windows\System32\certsrv\" for example like test.txt doesn’t get found even though I can see it in IIS Manager. If I make another virtual directory to say "c:\temp" all in dandy, as soon as it’s moved to system32 or below it doesn’t work! What’s stopping this, its drive me mad lol. Thank you

Dummies guide to setting up Wpad with Ruckus Zonedirector 1100
Guest posted a topic in Wireless Networks
Hi Please can some one help me out and tell me bit by bit how to setup a wpad file with proxy settings for our wireless clients. Basically i have a Zone director 1100 and in my WLans list ive enabled Auto Proxy setting within the Advanced options. i want to be able to set the wpad file to be stored on my server using IIS. but I've hardly next to nothing experience writing a simple wpad file to tell our wireless clients what proxy address to use or setting this up in IIS. hope you can help Thanks -
Hi there, I've been trying to make LDAP work with PHP on our Windows Server 2003 web server - to do so I was instructed (by online instructions) to make a tiny change in the PHP.ini file, which I did. I was then advised to reboot the server, which I also did....here the problem arises: Since rebooting the server, no PHP pages are loading. I can access HTML pages alright, but if there is any heavy use of PHP, it throws a HTTP 500 error. I say HEAVY use of PHP because a simple test.php file (saved to the same folder as the other pages which will not load) will work just fine - thought it only contains the <?php phpnifo() ?> command and a simple 'echo HELLO WORLD'. So I undid the change I made to the PHP.ini and re-reboot the server, but still no luck. I even rolled back the system to a couple of days before I started playing around (using our BackupExec software)...BackupExec wanted me to reboot the server in order for the restore to take effect, so I did....but still no PHP! The common theme here seems to be rebooting the server - is there something which needs to be kicked off upon rebooting? I've checked the running services and everythink seems hunky dorey. Apache Tomcat is running automatically (which it MUST be because my simple PHP test page worked okay)....just nothing useful!! Does anybody have any suggestions? Pretty please?

Hi all, I've been sort of dumped in the poo this week, because over the half term we have somehow managed to screw up our VLE external access. This is a system I have never been involved in and the network manager has gone snowboarding The VLE is our own design hosted on Sharepoint over two servers running Windows Server 2003 64bit. Up until last week, the sharepoint servers were not running service pack 1. Last week the NM attempted to go to service pack 2 on both servers in preparation for our spanky new Sims Learning Gateway install. We had a whole host of errors and, as a result one sever is running on version 12.0.0.6421, and the other on 12.0.0.4518. Trouble is I'm not involved in the sharepoint servers at all, so I wouldn't know where to start on troubleshooting the updates. The Sims Learning Gateway was installed anyway on our half-upgraded servers and the VLE works perfectly internally. On both sharepoint servers there is a web site on IIS called Portal for external traffic to be forwarded into. It is here that we have the problem. Traffic coming from the ISA server (the rules on that server look correct for forwarding "intranet" traffic to the correct server and the correct port) does not reach IIS on the sharepoint server - I get the following error on the logs in ISA: Failed connection attempt Web Proxy - Reverse A Socket operation was attempted to an unreacheable host. Rule: Intranet External traffic - 10.36.84.9:8181 **This is the correct server IP on the correct port** I'll cut the essay short here, any ideas would be appreciated (even if they seem obvious), and if you need information that I haven't provided here, just say!!! Paul

Sorry about the wall of text, but i feel this needs a detailed explanation. I recently installed WSUS sp1 onto server 2003 sp2 with IIS. soon after (about a day) machines stopped communicating with the console. checking the event logs, i was getting a series of 6 errors from WSUS, with eventids in this order: 13042, 12002, 12032, 12022, 12042, 12052. this happened every 6 hours until i restarted the IIS admin service, after which machines started reporting again. the problem is that it fails like this at least every couple of days, requiring a restart of IIS. even running wsusutil.exe checkhealth caused it to fail. I recently upgraded to WSUS sp2, which i thought had fixed the issue, as it worked fine for 3 days, and even after running wsusutil check i didn't get any errors. now it does exactly the same thing as it did before i upgraded. i've googled for answers, re-installed IIS and WSUS 3 times, but am out of solutions and i'm stumped. please help!

Hi, Previously we setup PHP on a test internal web server and allowed the BTEC students to FTP their PHP code to it, allowing them to test their code. The IT teacher has said that as the FTP either within Dreamweaver or the FTP client they had access to previously was a lot of fuss. I can kind of see their point. What they have requested is that PHP be installed on each IT student machine so that they can test and code without having to FTP files around etc. Wouldn't this require a webserver on each machine? involve installing IIS/PHP and configure on each machine? I can see it becoming a nightmare before even looking into it further. Could I please ask, what do you guys do for PHP? Thanks in advance!

Hello, We have just recently upgraded to HAP v7.10 and whilst everything is working well, whenever we try to use the new myfiles we get the following error: Server Error in '/HAP' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL: 1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example: <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %> or: 2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application: Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode. Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario. Hi. We've just got a new system in place which allows automatic authentication to OWA and SharePoint from in the school. However, one bunch of users in Active Directory cannot authenticate. I get this: HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. Internet Information Services (IIS) Strange, because every other user in the school is working fine. Its just my DiDA users. I've moved them to seperate OUs, changed their group policies etc. etc. but they just won't authenticate! They've always been able to in the past. Any ideas? I'm not sure what the 'invalid credentials' is all about. Can't see anything untoward in IIS either. Any help would be appreciated, I'm getting worried that it wont be ready by Monday! Alan.
