Hey guys! I'm back in the forums asking more dummy questions I'm trying to install virtualbox via sccm. I've managed to extract the msi, and I have ran the msi with both quiet and passive switches, but the program keeps failing to install! Does anyone have virtualbox in sccm currently and, if so, can you save me from this hell of not being able to deploy it? Thank you so much <3

Azure and AWS is not the only cloud service provider out there. Oracle in order to get people qualified (ok for the fundamentals of their system) and (what I can see) hopefully get more people to use their "as a service", they are offering their fundamental training and exam for free. Not sure if this is a time limited offering, but I can say that the course was interesting, even if it is just to compare what is out there and to make a more informed decision when deciding on cloud services You can access the training and exam here.

So the Java 8 I have on a server (for Unifi) says that on Java.com version 8 is the latest version?!? Ubiquity is telling me to use version 11 of Java (and not 12) the Oracle website has version 11..... What don't I know about Java?!??!

Evening All, Came across this and thought post it on here, what's everyone's thoughts? A year later: Has Oracle ruined or saved Sun? | The Industry Standard - InfoWorld James.

Sun ZFS Storage 7120 | High-Capacity, Entry-Level Storage | Oracle Hi All, I have been tasked to evaluate a Shared Storage (will primarily be used as a NAS) and a volume separate for LUNs (two or three LUNS). We have a distributed architecture application which gets a job from multiple computers, process and stores data on a Shared Storage, it can be a NAS or a LUN mounted on a server too. I have checked NetAPP, EMC but I am inclined towards using ZFS. Oracle appliance seems good to me but I have read posts on edugeek and at first it was very promising but some posts mentioned that oracle firmwares are not doing so well with these kits, also the features I am after are Dedupe, SMB Sharing, Active Directory Integration and iSCSI, I have read on these forums that dedup and all these features slow this 7120 down ? 24GB RAM ? still ? On Oracle's website, the price is listed as $24K for 11 x 3TB Disks ? is this true ? 33TeraBytes in 24,000 Dollars ? or once we get to purchase then they add a few bolt-on's to increase the price. What type of disks are they using in 7120? SAS, Near Line SAS or SATA ? Will be grateful if someone could provide suggestions as to whether to leave oracle 7120 aside or to go for it ? We need 16TB of Usable Space and 7120 seems a good purchase consider 11 x 3TB Disks at 24K USD ? Looking forward to your suggestions - Thanks (This is a great forum)

We recently adopted a new SIS based on Oracle. While we did not write the coding for the database, we are allowed to add in features...but no one in our department knows Oracle. Basically, I'm looking for a self service password reset that I can create and post via our web server. Any tips on good Oracle coding books or thoughts as to how realistic this goal is would be great. I realized today, on my 15th password reset due to lockout, that this was something I needed to change. (Our password policy is 3 tries, lockout, no timeout. And no, without giving full admin rights to the database, password resets cannot be delegated. We already asked I'd love some ideas! Thanks as always - you guys are all awesome.

A news piece has just surfaced which may strike fear and anger into the hearts of loyal Sun hardware buyers. According to the piece it is looking increasingly likely that Oracle will sell off the Sun hardware line to hp. Oracle is likely to sell sun's hardware business to hp - The Inquirer Aparently Oracle did not really want the hardware line to begin with and so have been looking at options to be rid of it since. On the plus side we may finally have an actual channel to buy rebranded Sun gear in New Zealand while it is still on offer instead of the rather neglectful state of their existing supply channels.

I work for company that recently acquired a company that has a Sun Storage 7410 that has a really old firmware and many problems. I have been able to get my hands on the most recent firmwares 2011.1.5.0 and 2011.1.3.0. We have a current CSI with Oracle it just does not have firmware access. My problem is that I need firmware update 2010.Q3.2.1 for my 7410 hardware in order for the server to be upgraded to this latest firmware. Back when Sun was still Sun, this would not have been a problem, but they were absorbed into the shambling horror of a company that is Oracle. Good old Oracle now requires an expensive support contract in order to access firmware updates for Sun hardware that long predates Oracle's acquisition of Sun. What I need is for some sympathetic fellow IT person with access to CSI with firmware access to download this old firmware pack and to provide it to me. Here is the link to the pack that I need: https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/Services/download/p11887647_120_Generic.zip?aru=14164363&patch_file=p11887647_120_Generic.zip I am willing to trade the newer version for the older one if someone needs it. Any help I can get with this would be greatly appreciated!

Oracle appears to have just purchased Sun for $7.4 billion, looks like all that Sun gear will have rock solid support for Oracle DBs and stuff and a more stable capital base to honor warrenties etc. Original Source: Slashdot | Oracle Buys Sun
