Hello, We've been running HAP for a while now and its been a great upgrade over other portals in previous years, so thank you to the team that made it. Were running single sign on with kerberos here and its all running fine, one of the feature points is that it checks the IP address of the client machine via the "InternalIPs" variable. I was wondering if it was possible to bypass this feature or have it turned off? My issue is that in South Australia we have a government mandated administration network that has one directional traffic flow and its own separate auth domain. We create kerberos tickets on these admin machines from the domain HAP resides in, however HAP cannot talk back to the network segment these clients originate from (Im assuming this to be my problem). Essentially anyone on this IP range cannot perform single sign on to HAP, other items from our realm e.g exchange, IIS websties, sharepoint, sign on without issue on this network segment. My understanding is that this is to prevent SSO for external hosting? We sit behind a reverse proxy/firewall that does AD auth and creates a kerberos ticket for the user as well. It would also be great for that identity to function as well, im assuiming the solution to be the same for both segments. Would this perhaps be a configurable on/off feature request item? Any advice would be welcomed in making our users lives easier

Hi, recently got HAP installed for a school that I'm working alongside currently. We want to customise the "Home Access Plus+" shown here: Home Access + .... To the name of the school, like this: Home File Access - ICT@StrathmoreSC (Strathmore...) Any idea on how to do this? I'm sure @nickbro would, but can't find anything on the site already relating to this. Also, within the Login.aspx you can specify the page title, which I have done. However, post login, it beings up the "Home Access Plus+" naming on the Tab, I'd ideally want this changed to "%SchoolName% - Cloud Portal" is possible, any idea how to do any of this? We're set after this, it's been great! Whistler.

Hello everyone, Got a bit of an issue with HAP at the minute - it works fine on Chrome but when trying it on IE an error message is displayed. The version of HAP is 10.1 and it is running on Server 2012 R2 (IIS 8.5) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is the first time it has been install and setup.I'm having issue with students logging in . When they try it just hangs on logon screen with no error then timeouts. Staff and administrators both work fine which leads me to believe its a permissions issue. We currently have a students group with has each year group as member and then students are a member of the year groups, so in the setup I add the student active directory group as the HAP student group. I have seen a post about logon rights as student required for server the web server or file server(which is also domain controller) or both ? , could this also be the cause ?

Hello has any body got SIMS.net working on home access plus on remote apps or any other kind of way one dont no where to start two dont no what to do do you conect to the sims server ??/. HELP i have the shared drive needed for sims working just dont no where to go next

Hello my hap seems to have locked everybody out will not let anybody log in. i dont no how to get on it, to find the problem. i have put setup. at the end still will not work HELP

Hi Nick, I have installed version 7.8 this morning and have been having a play with the My Files - it is looking good, much better than the legacy browsers. Anyway, I have found that certain files seem to fail on upload. These files are allowed file types, things such as flv's and pdf's - though I don't think there is any relation to the type of file. I was wondering if it were due to the size of the files as I have noticed it with 4mb pdf's and 100mb flv's, but, we do have the following in our web.config file that should stop this? I noticed that Firebug is reporting the following request as a 404 response: "NetworkError: 404 Not Found - https://domain.com/HAP/api/myfiles-upload/L/" Any ideas? On an unrelated note, if I was to make a suggestion, would it be possible for the My Drives on the left to be initially expanded to show the mapped drives? -

Hello, I am trying to setup HAP+ at another school so they can make use of the room booking system. However, for some reason every time a member of staff logs in, it throws the "Unauthorised" error. I have tweaked the Booking System web.config as follows: Staff can login and get to the landing page, but when they go to click "Booking System" it then just shows the unauthorised page. If I log in as a user that's a member of Domain Admins, it works without any problems. I've also noticed that although I've restricted access to setup.aspx to Domain Admins, all users can still access this. Is there an IIS role that's missing? Many thanks in advance.

Hi all, have recently installed HAP + V10 Full on a server 2012 r2, installed iis as videos instructed (from HAP website) have linked to domain and can now log in with domain users. currently domain admins are set to be able to see the Management tile when they log in but they don't! the only way i can get to the setup.aspx page is by changing the web.config to have when i change that section to: no one can access the setup.aspx and the managent section does not show. this is even the case when the network administrator account logs in to, which is in the domain admins group..... any one have any ideas???

Good morning all, We're trying to demote our old domain controller (Which I will call DC-OLD for this) however whenever we turn the server off, no one can access their folders, you get an error message at the top-left that says "Something went wrong". Users can still log in and authenticate successfully so it must still be connecting to AD somehow. The HAP Server has the new DC as its only DNS Address. Is there something that needs to be changed in the configuration? Thanks in advance for any help! We are stuck. Charlie

Hi all, Just finished setting up HAP and can access externally, basically just to see what it's like etc. Now I really want to keep it, as its great! So, having never really adventured into web accessible servers I thought I better check a few things! I did a search for hap security but everything was very specific, so hopefully this inst a repost. I've setup a hyper v client Win Server 2012 R2, with firewall and antivirus, this is on the same network as other stuff. Had our ISP port forward 443 to the IP address of the server - security wise is this ok? or does the server need to be setup on some separate network somehow? With port forward does that mean the only in and out traffic is to and from the HAP server? Is there any other pointers anyone has in regards to this?

Hi, i read somewhere on here or could have been the RM forum that you can get free SSL certificate from Starcom I beleive. I did this and have been using it without any issues, or so I thought. Thought that I had best post this on here to get advice and to advise others. I have discovered that using the SSL certificate from Starcom stopped the link between RMMC (RM Management Console) and the Group Policy Objects it manages. Any changes that were made in RMMC were not being passed through to the respective GPO's but when this SSL was removed and the original RM one reinstated, this started working again. Has anyone else experienced this or know of how to resolve this? Thanks

Hi All, I'm looking to push SharePoint at the Trust i am working for currently but one of the things we have in our intranet at the moment is HAP+ room bookings. Im trying to find away of either implementing/designing a way of doing this in Sharepoint or trying to make something custom in Sharepoint to achieve what HAP+ does. Has anyone else gone through this process and if so would they be willing to share on what they have done? Thanks

Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me any advice on this. Currently my display names on active directory are setup as %First Name% %Surname%, however HAP requires it to appear as %Title% %Initials% %Surname%, rather than going through and changing the display names on active directory, I would love to be able to modify the report definitions to pull First Name and Surname and just use that. Is this possible? and if so, can anyone assist with what needs modification? Thanks Ben

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could help, has experienced this, etc... I have installed and configured HAP on a fresh install of Server 2019. Everything went ok until I logged in (sorry for the quality, my phone had issues trying to focus): Added to that, after logging in, if you actually manage to log out, the next time you log in, it takes a very long time... Any assistance and or advice that you would be able to share, would be greatly appreciated -Ken

Hi all. I have hit the limit of my knowledge of IIS (little to no knowledge for a fact). I have HAP setup on Windows web server 2008 R2 (server is called HOMEACCESS) using https with a self certificate and all works fine, home directory and mapped drives are displaying fine etc. When I log onto the site using address https://homeaccess/HAP/login.aspx it says the 'SSL certificate is invalid and meant to another site' but I can ignore it and carry on, the only place I found in IIS to add a SSL cert was to right click on the servers name in IIS and add it to there, my HAP application is inside a subfolder of 'Default website' in IIS, is that correct? I have given the server with HAP installed a static internal IP address 10.*.*.2 and have got SWGFL to assign that address an external static IP address and open port 443, this is all done now. I have applied to https://www.startssl.com/ but waiting for them to get back to me. I have setup a subdomain of our school website (http://www.*school name*.org.uk) called 'HAP.*school name*.org.uk' and got that subdomain to point to my fixed external IP address of my HAP server that SWGFL setup (nslookup confirms this). My main question is how to I get my internal server to talk to the outside world via my external address, so when I am in the outside world all I need to type is https://hap.*school name*.org.uk to login? I have searched but I can not find the steps needed for this to happen. One section said to add the external IP address to the bindings of the site, I have tried but I can only add bindings to the default website not to my hap folder and also I can not seem to enter an IP address to bind anyway, I must be missing something simple. I hope I have provided enough information for anyone to help me. Please make any explanation or instructions very simple as I have never got this far with setting up HAP and have very little knowledge of IIS etc P.S this is all a result of Merlin shutting down soon so that teachers can access all their work at home.

Hi. Firstly, I'd just like to congratulate Nick on creating such a fantastic system, and sharing it with everyone. We've only started using it this school term, and everyone's saying how great it is. These forums have also helped with some of the problems we've faced. However, there seems to be a problem with the booking system for staff members. When a domain admin books a room, they get a calendar event sent to them, and the booking is shown in the grid. If a 'normal' staff member books a room, it doesn't send an email or show on the grid. It does, though, get logged in ~/App_Data/Bookings.xml with a lesson of 'null'. Although we're not currently booking rooms, it would be a nice feature to get working. I'm fairly sure that everything else is correct. Thanks.

Hello, I have probably set something somewhere which is stopping people (in the Staff & other OU's) from accessing the booking system. In particular, one user. The contents of my Web.config in the BookingSystem directory is... The user that is having problems would come under the "Cheryl" group whereas I come under the "Domain Admins" group, so logically staff + cheryl should be able to access the page. As for what the OU's are set to... There has got to be something ive done wrong Running HAP+ Version 8.1.1.something

Hi Nick, We are retiring our current timetable program and I have turned to HAP to replace it after it has proved so much excellence with remote files and even remote access. I have installed the booking system and timetable add ons and I feel I am close. I had an issue where moment.min.js was missing from the scripts folder, easily resolved. I now have an issue that the sims timetable export.xml is showing varying day names. For example some are: 1Mon:1, 2Tue:2 etc. but others are Day1:1, Day2:2 etc. The results displayed in a timetable are then confusing: Example student week 2: Which is this users Timetables.XML set: < You can see in the code "2Mon:5" works but "2Mon:6" hasn't worked. Where do I need to look to sort this? I am best going back to the pre-converted Timetableexport.xml and making amends there? Other questions: Can I limit the timetable to only show school hours (08:45 - 15:35) rather than the full day(00:00-00:00)? Is there a reason the week number identifier only cover Monday - Thursday? (see images below) Why does the terms show currently as term 1, 2, 3 & 4? (see my termdates.xml below) In the record, what is "year" used for? Some seem to be populated with unrecognisable figures like "3" whereas others are blank. Hello, We have just recently upgraded to HAP v7.10 and whilst everything is working well, whenever we try to use the new myfiles we get the following error: Server Error in '/HAP' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL: 1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example: <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %> or: 2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application: Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode. Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead.
