Have you added the bit on the end of the address for privacy or something? "p=XXXXXX" Without that suffix the PAC starts downloading...But the full address shows invalid policy.

That's fine, if you run that tool on a client that isn't working it'll try use the pac and output with any issues, or if there isn't issue getting the pac it'll download it. If it was me I'd use that to narrow down issue.

The following tool is really good, you run it and it outputs to a text file if it can find PAC/WPAD. https://findproxyforurl.com/official-toolset/ *Not sure who they are, but I've used it in past and never had problems.

You know you said " They don't have a proxy and if i untick it by logging in as me it works fine." did you mean if you untick the proxy settings in Internet Explorer settings? If so you can do this with group policy, doesn't fix the problem, but might get rid of it! Group policy: Preferences > Control Panel Settings > Internet Settings, Then do a new for IE 10, go to that proxy settings, change it to how you need and press F5, all the fields should turn green, which means it will change all those settings. Obviously check it isn't going to wipe out any needed settings in the other pages.

Not sure how the Fortinet filtering works, we have Lightspeed here. Are you able to assign a user / ip address to have no filtering? On Lightspeed you can set a user to "Allow All" which although is still filtered, it's vastly less filtered. If you can do that and test it, and Chrome works ok it proves that it's something to do with your filtering?

Could this be to do with that those parts of the website are on a different CDN, don't Akamai do that for Microsoft? Maybe check filtering reports, some addresses are blocked others aint?

@Al_NetSupport thanks, it's no problem, I'm really happy we can send all staff a bulletin. The ability to have individual/pick certain people - message would of just been the cherry on top! We're a primary so departments wouldn't really work as most jobs are individual! What I'm confused about is where you have said "once these users logon and also includes their username as well as the PC name." That happens...but not all the time. So i've currently got 27 clients connected, and I know all are logged in, but only 10 are showing username, the others are just computername.

Thanks @Al_NetSupport for this, fantastic bit of software, it's going to be great for all staff bulletins. Just one thing, I'm noticing that when I send a message, quite a few of our users aren't shown, just the computer name. I did a test message to a computer name and on the message acknowledgement the username was filled in with the correct user, but when I went to send another message, even after refreshing it still only shows the computer name. Is this a limitation of the software, or is something wrong here?

With Schools Broadband here - you may have the Google proxy setup at Schools Broadband's end, without using the proxy files on the local computers - could cause problems if its pupil filtering trying to access google?

Does this school use the same ISP as the others? This has to be something network related surely? Have you done a web filter report see if anything is blocked, could be an indication what it's trying to do?

Good idea @jthompson You can go to: chrome://policy and it should show any that any policies that are applied from group policy

Hmm, well not getting a proxy from the usual places then!! You on the latest version of Chrome? Do you have issues in Internet Explorer? Maybe try seeing on your web filter, do a report for a certain workstation that you try use Chrome on? See where its trying to go?

Hmm, is that on a workstation with "automatically detect settings" still checked? I wonder if someone set the proxy with the netsh command previously?? What happens with the netsh command?? netsh winhttp show proxy

I don't think that's right... I think it just should say nothing found for each. No just ran the findproxy on a normal workstation.
