Hello EduGeek! We're delighted to be sponsoring the Educational Software forum for the next few months. Our company has two main products: the Room Booking System and Parents Evening System, each managing millions of bookings for schools worldwide. We focus on making easy to use high quality software that just works, which is why we're SIMS Technical Partners & Advanced Learning Partners. The Room Booking System is the market leading web based room & resource management system designed specifically for schools to manage the ever growing number of resources such as IT rooms, laptop trolleys, iPads, sports facilities & meeting rooms. It fully integrates with SIMS, Facility, Progresso and iSAMS so all timetable information (and cover for SIMS) is automatically synced. LDAP authentication and single sign-on are also supported meaning the system runs itself without any manual intervention. We offer a 30 day free trial at www.roombookingsystem.co.uk The Parents Evening System allows parents to book appointments with teachers online. Parents no longer need to rely on their child to make appointments or worry about their return slip getting lost at the bottom of the schoolbag. The system integrates with SIMS & Facility so the system knows exactly who teaches each child. The school can view reports of parent attendance and track which students haven't booked appointments. You can use the system for one live evening for free - apply at www.parentseveningsystem.co.uk Do you already use our software or have any questions? We'd love to hear from you - please post your comments/questions below and we'd be happy to answer them.

Hi All we are looking to move away from our current MIS system "KSM" one of the main requirements is giving the parent the ability to select and amend the days they want their children to attend the nursery rather than have them call the admin office or use an online form, once a parent makes the changes for their child days the admin simply approves them individually or in bulk, another main requirement is parents paying via the app or web and that automatically updates the MIS rather than transfer the money directly to our account then admin makes note of that then finance sees the transactions and a ton of manual work. sofar I was exploring famly.co but it seems it lacks that functionality and parents will still need to call the office, also looked into isams but didn't see this functionality as an option either i could be wrong though, any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi Guys, Just wondering which room booking software you currently use? I know this has been asked before but looking for some upto date info on this. Had a headache yesterday trying to install MRBS just such a pain finally got it all installed only to discover more issues ! Classroombookings looks pretty nice although cannot download it due to being blocked in school. So what have you guys got~?

Guys, We're part of a development team creating a new room booking and issue tracking solution. We could do with having someone who is from a SIMS based school to trial our software and the export function from SIMS - specifically timetable data. The solution is based on a subscription model so we'd gladly give you some free usage for a couple of months, please PM us if you might be interested. Cheers Dan

Hi Everyone, We have been running Devizes School Booking System for a while now and have recently moved over to a new server. I have come to reinstall this and can't find the download files anywhere and it appears the original site is down. Does anyone have a copy of this I can have? Thanks in advance, Jon

I'm looking at trying to streamline our process of scheduling parents evening. Currently we are receiving requests from parents then creating a schedule to distribute that can accomodate everyone and give as optimal evening as possible. Needless to say, although it has its benefits, there is a lot of time that has to be invested in a single evening and in a growing school (1000+ students in our Upper school) this isn't going to improve. I know a number of schools have been using online solutions allowing parents to directly book appointments themselves. It would be great to know what solutions schools have been using and could recommend (including feedback from parents and staff) but also how any pit-falls have been addressed. My main concerns would be the difficulties parents have to book appointments if they are one of the last to do so and also where teachers only have a few appointments how to prevent them from being spread out across the duration of the event.

Hi all, We are considering purchasing a booking system for parents to use to book appt slots for open evenings. Has anyone here got any experience with such a system? Are any existing products worthy of recomendation? I'd be interested in your thoughts. Graham

Hi All, I'm looking to push SharePoint at the Trust i am working for currently but one of the things we have in our intranet at the moment is HAP+ room bookings. Im trying to find away of either implementing/designing a way of doing this in Sharepoint or trying to make something custom in Sharepoint to achieve what HAP+ does. Has anyone else gone through this process and if so would they be willing to share on what they have done? Thanks

I just installed and everything is going well for me now, use LDAP, and everything runs perfect. Now the issue I have is that any user can request a room, and this is reserved, what I really need is that the room is requested and this is pending the approval of the administrator. Search my systemdefaults.inc.php and found no way to make users do not automatically reserve. I attached what seemed relevant to me edit my systemdefaults.inc.php // SETTINGS FOR APPROVING BOOKINGS - PER-AREA // These settings control whether bookings made by ordinary users need to be // approved by an admin. The settings here are the default settings for new // areas. The settings for individual areas can be changed from within MRBS. $approval_enabled = TRUE; // Set to TRUE to enable booking approval // Set to FALSE if you don't want users to be able to send reminders // to admins when bookings are still awaiting approval. $reminders_enabled = TRUE; // SETTINGS FOR APPROVING BOOKINGS - GLOBAL // These settings are system-wide and control the behaviour in all areas. // Interval before reminders can be issued (in seconds). Only // working days (see below) are included in the calculation $reminder_interval = 60*60*24*2; // 2 working days // Days of the week that are working days (Sunday = 0, etc.) $working_days = array(1,2,3,4,5); // Mon-Fri // SETTINGS FOR BOOKING CONFIRMATION // Allows bookings to be marked as "tentative", ie not yet 100% certain, // and confirmed later. Useful if you want to reserve a slot but at the same // time let other people know that there's a possibility it may not be needed. $confirmation_enabled = TRUE; // The default confirmation status for new bookings. (TRUE: confirmed, FALSE: tentative) // Only used if $confirmation_enabled is TRUE. If $confirmation_enabled is // FALSE, then all new bookings are confirmed automatically. $confirmed_default = FALSE; Can anyone help me? I have other issues but the questions I will be doing later. sorry for my English (I've tweaked with google translator)

We are using SharePoint 2013 and I'd like to create a room booking system. If possible it would make teacher's lives much easier if I could get it to display periods of the day rather than times. I'd like to be able to say for example, that 9:00am - 9:55am is Lesson1. Then when a teacher makes a booking, they just select Lesson1, rather than having to specify start and end times. When they view the calendar list in calendar view, SharePoint would then need to interpret 'Lesson1' as being equal to 9:00 until 9:55 so it shows in the right place on the calendar. Is this something anyone else has managed to achieve? Thanks.

Hi. Firstly, I'd just like to congratulate Nick on creating such a fantastic system, and sharing it with everyone. We've only started using it this school term, and everyone's saying how great it is. These forums have also helped with some of the problems we've faced. However, there seems to be a problem with the booking system for staff members. When a domain admin books a room, they get a calendar event sent to them, and the booking is shown in the grid. If a 'normal' staff member books a room, it doesn't send an email or show on the grid. It does, though, get logged in ~/App_Data/Bookings.xml with a lesson of 'null'. Although we're not currently booking rooms, it would be a nice feature to get working. I'm fairly sure that everything else is correct. Thanks.

Hi Guys, Could you please try to help me to swap the tables orders in BOOKING PAGE? I mean, today we have [Room_name](y axys) vs [Date_time](x axys), how do i swap this order to the opposite, like [Room_name](x axys) vs [Date_time](y axys)? I need this change because in my case here i have much more time slots than rooms, and the layout and pagination became weird... =S I did a few changes, and also translated a few things to PT_BR, but i dont have enought knowledge to swap the tables inside the models . Please help me!

Hi everyone, I have been asked if there is a way to book pupils into other schools Internal Exclusion Unit, and them into ours. At the moment its all done via email, and that seems to be the general concensus across the schools I know. But SLT have aked if there is an online system that could be used (similar to School Booking for rooms etc)

I've been searching the net trying to find some software either web based or installed on a server that will interact with our sharepoint for managing a fleet of mini buses. need to be able to book buses for staff members in a calander which would then be able to notify them that the bus is booked. preferable with a one line in the calander per minibus so that you can physically see all mini bus bookings for the whole day or week at once see link below. I've been trying to do this with sharepoint calanders and oultlook but can't get it to look right. thanks in advance. cars+webPLAN - Car Rental Fleet Management System and Planning Calendar

I have searched the forums and seen some good suggestions for booking (Devizes, MRBS, another thread). I am limited with what I can implement though. The school uses the Kaleidos Learning Platform, which I think will provide the best place to do this. I will initially only want one piece of equipment available for booking, but eventually for more to be added. I can share an excel or word file from the document library of the LP. A form could be created in a webpart and (I think) linked to a list (that looks like it is controlled by access). I'm not too sure what option to choose though. Use Excel to enable teachers to book equipment, or to figure out how to use the built in access / form webpart combo. I'm not a technician, just another teacher. If I was to keep this simple for me, I would just share a word document that has a calendar where teachers can put the relevant information. Is there a better way, though, with what is available to me?
