Is there a way to export/grab the configurations from iOS apps? I'm using Lightspeed MDM and it gives you the option to add a configuration plist file to the deployed app. But how do I a) get this file from an existing iPad (if possible) or b)How would I go about generating these files for the apps. Ideally I want to set permission for the camera & photos etc, default servers for Foldr & Accelerated Reader etc.

Hi all Just a little question for you. Is there any worth to doing a Exchange 2007 training course that deals primarily with configuration? The reason I ask is that installing Exchange 2007 is pretty easy and with their Best Practices Analyzer tool, you can get pretty much everything as far as setup goes sorted, but where I'm a little worried is the actual config of Exchange goes i.e. how do I know if i configured everything correctly? are the send connectors setup correctly and do i really understand how they work? did i manage to move all the databases and files to the appropriate iSCSI storage places? etc, etc.. Naturally there is a wealth of info out there but I'm that sort of paranoid kind of person that makes me doubt whether everything I've setup is correct and safe from problems. I found this: MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Configuration - Microsoft Certification Training - SEEK Learning UK that looks to be the kind of thing that would echo what I was after. Has anyone been on one of these courses or anything similar? Was it worth doing? Incidentally, I've had a bit of training that covered the overall stuff i.e. various scenario's, do's and dont's and general stuff, but its the configuring side of things that I'd want to know whether its worth it [or not]. Cheers Nath.

Hi chaps. Happy New Year to everyone. I have just installed HAP and I am getting this error when I try to run the setup. Any ideas? Cheers - Andrew

Our network is based around dedicated IT Rooms with fixed connection Desktop PCs running Win7 Pro Sp1We have limited WiFi coverage in place (phase 2 is pending funding).I have a user requirement for SEN students to have word processing capability in class for note taking and written exercises (i.e. old fashioned word processors). Similarly we have a requirement for the same for exams (where access arrangements are in place).I am interested in ideas on how to provide this efficiently with minimum IT Support management overhead. We currently have old/donated laptops of various makes and maintaining these are a bit of a nightmare to maintain and lock down. New machines are aimed at connectivity (which for this user requirement, we don't need or have to lock down). Can anyone suggest a budget device that we can either have a customised operating system pre-installed or can easily/quickly lock-down ourselves?

Hi Guys and Gals, Im in charge of around 150 iPads at a very large cluster of Academies. Today i was asked to configure 5 more iPad minis to add to our collection. The way i configure the iPads are as followed: 1. install the same profile created on my mac using apple configurator 2. install the Meraki Cisco profile I use for MDM, that again, is used with all of our current iPads. 3. configure the account settings to match the apple ID used with Meraki and deploy apps. This afternoon i have been faced with a new option (I have never seen this before so new to me!) I'm not sure if its part of the iOS update, Apple Configurator update or OS update. So part of the profile that i put on the iPads bypasses a lot of the standard OOBE and just asks for language and location. Wi-Fi is automatically set so after passing that the iPad usually goes straight into the OS and displays the standard apps. HOWEVER this afternoon (now) after passing on the wifi i was given the option to allow the profile that i just installed to configure the settings on the iPads so i can control them over the air. I selected apply configuration and 'next' and now they have all been stuck on the 'Installing configuration from *****' screen for nearly half an hour. As a test i did choose 'don't configure' on one of them and as you can guess, none of the profile options (such as do not allow app store, etc) were applied. I then unsupervised the iPad and supervised it again, choosing 'apply' and it is now stuck like the others. I don't want to restart the iPads as i don't want to get them stuck or have to restore them. Note: These are brand new, never been configured iPads. Any help or advise is extremely grateful! Stacey

I have a rather nasty problem, one of the schools that I work for has been doing some building work and now we finally have the server room back. Today we moved the DC back to the server room from its temporary (6 month) home and plugged it in there. Problem: when we plugged it in it reported 0 logical drives on the array controller which is a problem. There is supposed to be one logical volume in RAID 5 on their. Does anyone know of a way to recover the original setup on the controller so as to read the RAID 5 array. I have read that the controllers are supposed to be upgradeable so surly there must be some way to import the old volume back onto the controller. The server is a hp ML350 G4 I really would rather not have to reinstall everything as this is one of the schools that fund practically nothing and so everything short of ISA runs on this one box, exchange, AD, DNS, DHCP, apps, printers, phone system..... you get the gist. Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Hi, everyone. Really hoping someone here could help as I have no idea what else to do. I use CMIS for work as a timetabling officer. Since we mostly work from home and the programme is installed on a campus computer, we access it via the Remote Desktop Connection app from our Windows laptops. I've always alternated between docking my laptop and not. Everything was fine until one day when I was not docked, the laptop screen "blinked" and the blue part of CMIS -- the one containing the timetable graphics -- was suddenly blown out of scale with the rest. I'll insert a picture below, to illustrate: This is horrible to work with and I've fiddled around with every option in the configuration/display menu to no avail. The annoying part is that docking the computer to another display rescales the blue part back to what it's supposed to be, but it goes back to this horror show as soon as I disconnect it. Yesterday it miraculously stayed put when I undocked the laptop and I worked all afternoon with normal-sized graphics, but today it was already back to this nonsense. If someone could please help, I'd be forever grateful. Thank you in advance.

Hi, been researching this but tried everything to no avail- my brain hurts so i am appealing for help! Got HP 5412zl core switch and testing vlans for use in the summer when i am going to create seperate vlans/subnets. Setup a new vlan called printers on 192.168.2.* range with IP address of 192.168.2.1 - setup new scope with 192.168.2.0 range - 192.168.2.1 is the default gateway for this scope - authorised and running. IP helper address of 10.56.132.8 (our dhcp server) is set in this vlan but it will not issue any addresses. I had this working before issuing addresses ok but had incorrectly set IP addresses for the new vlans on the other switches not realising they only need to be set on the core switch so deleted vlans and set up new ones. I do not know what has changed to stop it working - if I set a fixed address to laptop e.g. 192.168.2.2 with gateway of 192.168.2.1 then can connect from 192 to 10.56 network ok including dhcp server - so IP routing working ok. Any ideas wlecome! - do not know whether there is a problem in scope - but worked ok before and no error messages in event log or dhcp trffic not being forwarded - but why?
