Does anyone know a software or organisation that could come and check our servers and CC3 as the network is presently flashing up issues on user profiles, tutor manager, package allocation/access that previously did not occur. I refuse to purchase CC4 as this will not necessarily resolve these problems.

The day has finally come where my job is up for grabs. It's a regular Network Manager job looking after all the IT and related systems in a largish secondary school and sixth form. The shiny school website at Baines School » Nil Sine Labore will tell you more about the place. As you can imagine, all the usual bells and whistles are in place and things tend to tick along nicely. I've even got cabling diagrams, test results and documentation for things! A quick list of some of the technologies used: Windows - Server 2008R2 and 7 Macs XenServer XenApp Citrix Secure Gateway Sun Rays Systems Center FEP (plus the lovely Sophos for protecting the Macs) Lync - including Enterprise Voice Exchange - with Exchange UM SQL Server SIMS Smoothwall - a very nice UTM BlueSocket managed wireless HP switches throughout EMC AX100s Sun/Oracle S7110s Sun/Oracle SL24 autoloader Approx 350 client devices BYOC scheme for sixth form students It is a very varied job and you will be given quite a bit of freedom to do what you want. Your first job will even be choosing a new apprentice! All the printers are leased and pay-per-click too so if they go wrong you just ring and someone turns up to fix them I cannot confirm payscales or other details yet as the job hasn't been advertised. The post is available from mid-September. If you want to ask any more questions about the set up or school, post questions below. If you think you might be interested, email your CV to [email protected] Could you please keep non-job-related questions in the thread at http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/80922-ric_-moving-split-job-post.html EDIT - Email address updated since I am no longer there

We have a vacancy for a network manager at Sherrardswood School. We are a small all-through (nursery to sixthform) independent school in lovely grounds near Welwyn, Hertfordshire. There are currently about 280 children at the school and we pride ourselves on our friendly, family atmosphere. We are losing our two experienced engineers and have created a new Network Manger post who will be responsible for managing all aspects of ICT hardware, software and infrastructure across the school (with 3rd line support from a local company). This includes our management information system (PASS), curriculum & admin servers, staff and student computers, wireless and wired infrastructure, projectors and interactive whiteboards. We are looking for a reliable and independent worker with a good range of expertise who can communicate well with users. We do not have access to the same levels ICT finance as large state schools so the ability to find creative solutions will come in useful too! Salary will be in the range £22,000-£25,000 depending on experience. I have attached the draft job description. Adverts will appear in local press soon. Please feel free to contact me to ask for more information, express and interest or to arrange a visit. Jason Hunt, ICT Director. JD Network Manager 2012 draft 2.doc
