    Did you really need the full version of SQL? The free express version is fine upto 10GB. As far as I know you dont need to license the clients.

    It is free if you can access it via the app store but youll need a Mac that lets you download it. You may be better off getting a copy off ebay.

    Ive been implying this to staff since last year. People rely on them far too much and then they get corrupted, broken, or lost which then opens up to data protection issues if the files were to fall into the wrong hands.

    We regularly restart the SQL server as it can get huge and slow things down. I have a batch file that stops and starts it that runs once a week.

    As a Network Manager I would say you will be more inclined to: - Have a say or be in charge of how the ICT Budget is spent. - Be responsible for renewing contracts eg. Update software licenses, renew Antivirus and offsite backup plans, etc - Be brought into any SLT meetings to discuss any ICT related things. - Be in charge of ICT policies and how your network operates. - If you have any technicians then you will assign jobs to them or instruct them what to do.

    I thought I'd ressurect this as I've been thinking about it. If I get a Ubuiquiti Security Gateway to split into 2 lans, Im going to have to add additional switches to each port as there arent enough ports. What is the best menthod to use? Actually using seperate LANs as above or would a switch with vlan capability be better so I can have more ports, and instead of keeping the ports separated by separate LANS, having separate (cant see eachother) VLAN's on the switch all in all giving me more ports.

    Nice! I like it. Do you dress up as a witch then? I've found you either find cheap costumes that look rubbish or have to spend about £30 or more which right now I frankly dont have free to spend.

    So its World Book Day and in our school everyone is dressed up as book characters and to be fair some of them look like the'yve spent all night working on their costumes. But....What a load of hastle.... Getting kids ready to go to school trying to find a costume and knowing that whatever you make there will be some mum that has spent millions decorating their child to look like something out of a hollywood movie. I dont need this stressful time. Yes its fun but Bah, Im not even dressing up at work. Got way too much to do and live most of the time in a server cupboard so Meh!

    We havve recently redone our phone system to VOIP. Very easy to use and phones/users can be moved around easily. Still have a traditional line for alarm system.

    Once you work out how many Sims users you have and times that by the licensing youl be paying mega money! Unless you have just a few users and dont have any other packages (eg. FMS) then stay away.
