Santa receives lots of letters from children every year. This is a lot of personal data to be dealing with. On a legal bassis how is this data processed? Does Santa have a data retention policy? He is constantly monitoring kids to see if they are naughty or nice? Sounds like stalking. Has Santa had a DBS check? Is his grotto secure and are the elves certified to be dealing with all this sensitive information? Santa also uses the data from childrens letters to track down houses. Is he legally allowed to do this? We've not even mentioned the fact that entering via the chimney could cause criminal damage and would be classed as breaking and entering. Furthermore is his sleigh approved to fly by the FAA and has he filed a flight plan? The reindeer will be working a very long shift and as workers will have rights to lunch breaks. Pulling a sleigh loaded with enough presents for atleast one present per child will make this a very heavy sleigh. Under "Manual Handling" they need to be careful with weight distribution and how they handle things. Santa would also be likely to get fined for speeding as he has 24 hours to reach every home. He would have to travel at supersonic speeds to reach every home, go down the chimney, put out the presents, eat a mince pie, and go on to the next house. Seeing that some people also put out a glass of sherry for Santa we can assume that he would also be driving under the influence of alcohol and suffer from diabetes due to constant eating of mince pies. It's not looking good!

I love honey glazed parsnips so they will be definately on the menu. Mulled wine definately needed and then I love chestnuts so Ill do some of those.

We have an external company and I got so fed up with them having issues with their tablet not connecting and asking us for help that I just put in a PC. One extra mahcine to maintain isnt going to cause major distruption. The cook is happy and we get a free sandwhich every so often. Happy days.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone was getting this error? I specified the meal definitions but some dinner registers had already been done and I'm now getting this list of errors. See pic. Thankyou.

If its just one of you there is less chance of things being done in different ways. I remember working with 3 others a few years back and imaging and renaming computers in rooms. We'd all got the naming convention mixed up so it screwed everything up. If one person does it then its all the same, no muddling up anything, and you get to choose how things are done. I have an apprentice techie working with me at the moment and its great as I can get on with server things whilst he does jobs round the school. We have a good laugh. Its nice to share jokes and talk to someone else who can understand the whole IT way of life. We get on well in the office.

If they are going to be moved around a lot then avoid those oval shaped pop-up green screens as they end up breaking and the metal comes out of the fabric.

I can beat that. I joined a new job and servers hadnt been updated since 2015! It will take along time to update and with that amount of updates expect something to go wrong so make sure you backup first.

I have a user who has an account with 1and1 webmail and he needs to backup his entire inbox. Approx 15GB. The webmail interface only allows you to backup about 50 emails at a time. This will take forever and frankly be annoying. Does anyone know a way to save it all? Many thanks.

UPDATE: Sollution So I just had the same thing happen on my other Win2008 Server after updates and have now worked out the sollution that worked. Firstly make sure you know your static IP details for your Servers NIC connection. You then need to turn off your VM's in HyperV Manager and then remove your virtual network card/switch. Then go back to your physical hosts NIC and re-enter the static IP details. (They seem to dissapear). Then Restart dhcp server. (net stop dhcp and net start dhcp). Finally after you've got your Internet back go and re-create your HyperV network connection and point it at your NIC. All should be well again.

I was looking at Dell T640's with an additional processor. What sort of price woul dI be looking at for something like that with about 64GB or more RAM, 2 1TB Hardrives, Windows server which would give me two free HyperV servers and then an additional license for another VM? Thankyou.

Sounds like a good plan keeping an old server. Both sites are currenly linked via switch and fibre accross from one site to the other. They are currently on seperate networks and only share the Internet connection. Router has the two ports configured for each nerwork.

The reasoing behind this isnt just cost. It is more to do with all servers being virtual. They could just be restored at any time from backups. In the event the physical host did go down permanently, I could create a new host pretty quickly until we got a new server and then restore all VM's.

That would never work here. We have two seperate Sims servers and 2 seperate FMS too. The costs are way too expensive when you factor in our amount of users too.

Well that brightened up this dull Monday morning.

Im up and running again but still trying to work out what fix I did actually sorted it out. It was very odd as I had checked all the things it really should be. Going to try and make some sense over it and then get out of here and get myself a cold drink. Thanks everyone for your help along the way. Much appreciated.

NIC looks fine. No changes and I can access network shares from a client so can communicate with server. Bindings haven’t changed. All looks ok here and displays server address. Server is on static ip. Dhcp just not wanting to work even though dhcp services all day running ok.

Still nothing. Ipconfig on client machine just times out when trying to get an ip via dhcp server. Unable to contact dhcp setver

Firewall disabled.

Did updates on an old win2008r2 server and this morning getting no dhcp. All devices defaulting to 169 address as can be expected but everything looks fine on dhcp and dns. Any ideas? Thanks.
