Windows 10 1607,1809 and New version of Edge (Required Windows updates)
CommodoreS replied to tri_94's topic in Windows 10
I also had this issue. I have deployed an older build and hoping that WSUS which now has a new Microsoft Edge product beneath Windows will update it to the latest version. -
Printing PDF files in Chrome locks up Network Printers
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Windows 10
There has been an issue related to a Smart Notebook plugin inside Adobe Reader (related to Smart Ink as far as I can tell), so some users have been printing using built in Chrome viewers. I know Adobe Reader is the ideal solution, but still annoying that printing from Chrome is doing this. -
Edge chromium MSI deployment through AD failing 1603
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Windows 10
Looking more into this it looks like an issue with requiring the latest windows updates (which the test PC did not have) for the latest version. Using an older build of Edge has worked. -
I have downloaded the latest stable version 83 of edge chromium from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download and have set AD to deploy the MSI file in the normal way. It is failing to deploy and I am getting a 1603 error in event viewer. Does anyone know how to deploy this?

The staff have found a problem where if they print PDF files in Chrome, it is causing the network print queue to lock up on that print job and stop other print jobs as a result. It seems to happen on large documents. Has anyone else come across this before?

I have some machines where Adobe Reader DC is taking a long time to load. (1-2 Mins) After looking in to this more, it is being caused by SMARTPlugin.api inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\plug_ins Either by removing this file or disabling protected mode at startup solves the problem. Has anyone else come across this before and have a solution? Does anyone know how removing this plugin affects using Smart Notebook?

Since moving to Server 2019 the shared printer seems to frequently be getting stuck on print jobs. The most up to date correct drivers are being used. Going direct in the driver to the printer from the machine does not cause any problems, so seems to be an issue that is somehow Server 2019 related. Likewise the same printer never had any problems on the previous server. I also spent a long time with the photocopier company (printer is a leased photocopier) and went through all settings which they confirmed are all correct. A few changes were made but it is still happening. Trying to find a pattern it mostly seems to happen when printing image files. The only way to get it going again is to delete the jobs and restart the spooler service. Has anyone else come across this problem on Server 2019 recently?

Non 0845 number for RM Support Needed
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I am not asking for freephone number. Just a normal local rate number, which will cost the company nothing. The issue is 0845 phone numbers cost a fortune from mobile phones and I have no mobile credit to call a 0845 number on giffgaff or access to a landline, which would also cost extra money anyway. I am highly insulted that you are referring to me as stupid. So many times there are issues where things do not work how they should, not covered by standard documentation, or additional documentation and sometimes have no clear documentation at all. In this case the issue is relating to a service (not software) that has been paid for, regarding something that can only be changed on their side, by them to make it work. Even if the service had a manual (which is does not) no amount of reading it would help when I am unable to change these settings myself, and only they can do it at their end. Likewise if the service stops working or has an issue, they would need to be contacted as it is likely there is nothing I can do to fix it due to it being an issue on their side. If this is not customer service, I do not know what is. -
Non 0845 number for RM Support Needed
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Thanks. Did check there but wondered if there was a direct number as I know switch boards do not like you going through them. I would be interested to know how they are getting away with this still, as I mentioned I thought it was not allowed any more. -
Does anyone have a non 0845 number for RM Support? I thought these were made illegal for customer support years back? https://www.callcentrehelper.com/the-end-for-0845-numbers-63370.htm

I have been trying to find the details of what products and systems the 2UJ-00011 OVS licence covers. I can't find any terms and conditions or detailed description anywhere though, and the part number gives a generic description. As far as I am aware it just covers: Windows 10 Pro MS Office 2019 (or earlier) On any machine connected to the network at the school. From what I remember, it does not cover any non-networked stand-alone machines (Staff and students own machines), so checking what the best options are for those at this time.

Phantom touch on interactive screen
CommodoreS replied to mikeh1baslow's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Most certainly a fault with the screens. I very much doubt you will get anywhere with this one with Sahara if the warranty on your boards has expired, bar taking legal action against them claiming the items were not fit for purpose: https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/what-do-i-do-if-i-have-a-faulty-product - Is that what you had in mind? You are probably better of just replacing them with a different brand, and not recommending or using them again. Sahara has also started charging customers for Windows 10 touch screen drivers for out of warranty boards. You get what you pay for, and worth spending a bit more on something more reliable. -
Seems like there is also a MSP file, and GPO does not support MSP. Now to create a Batch File to deploy the additional MSP as well.

I have downloaded the latest Adobe Reader DC distribution version and extracted the MSI file. Upon deploying it is saying its the 2015 release and version 2015.007.20033 which seems a bit old. Checking manually for an update, there is an update and it has updated it to version 2015.023.20070 Is there a way to deploy an MSI through GPO for the very latest version?
