I was recommended Mosyle Manager. Its a great piece of software. All accessible via web browser. Just make sure you register your apps and use a VPP account via Apple School Manager first. It takes a bit of time to setup but once sorted is great. I have just done my iPads and think its briliant.

Im getting some new staff laptops and looking at spending no more than around £500. I've narrowed it down to two... I'd be interested to hear how you are doing it too as we ran into a similar issue.....without a VPP or School Manager account your apps will forever ask for AppleID's everytime you open them which will drive the teachers nuts. You need a volume purchase account.

Many thanks everyone. In the end we got a landline put in with a big button phone that we have labelled with a picture of me on the quick access button. My son then just needs to press it and it calls me directly. The phone is also always in the same place so easy to find. Thankyou for all your suggestions.

Just installing Mosyle Manager so once approved for VPP from Apple I hope to use that.

I'm not and this is where I think Im going wrong now. It used to work but Im guessing Apple have changed things since these iPads were last configured. Ive just signed up for the Volume Purchase Programme for Education so now need to wait for them to authorise it. I hope it doesnt take long! I was going round in circles last night but was so tired (My 3 little kids keeping me awake all night long ther night before). Hopefully the VPP will make things easier. Thankyou.

I’ve used Configurator to push out all apps to a trolley of iPads but find I am constantly having to log into my appleID every time I try and open an App. Someone please tell me where I’m going wrong as this used to work. I’ve read about iPads now needing to get part of Apple classroom Management where you then have to specify the number of purchases for each app? Is that right? I’m shattered and can’t think straight tonight. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thankyou.

It feels so much better hearing it slam into pieces as it flies through the air into the skip of doom. But ofcourse, assets tags taken down, Hazardous materials checked, etc.

Did a massive clearout in the summer.....broken 13" monitors, old power supplies, VGA splitters, old projectors. There comes a time where you just have to swing it all in the skip.

Has anyone actually gone for this? We were quoted £500 for Hosted Sims Per Year plus the migration one off cost of £495. That allows 10 users included. Now that doesnt sound too bad until you are hit with this..... Additional users (pro rata April-March): £30 Seeing all our teachers use Sims for registers and also the office staff we are looking at around 80 users which sky rockets the cost to £2400 + £500 takes us to just over £3000 and then you've not included licensensing and we've not even talked about FMS yet. Think we'll stick with hosting it ourselves.

Briliant question as I'm exactly the same boat as you. Have been running accross two sites applying Sims updates - No fun what so ever. Im trying to convince them to go for just one Sims for the whole 2 schools. But in the meantime the connect.ini looks like the way to let them choose.

Did the same thing last week. Open MIS Sync and then go to STAFF and Manage Data. You need to list them like this: STAFF01 - Smith - Bob - Staff - Staff

Out of interest is it best to backup from the VM's or from the host? I would assume from the host and select the VM's?

I have 2 HyperV Virtual machines that I need to backup. Everyone recommends Veeam software. Does Windows Server 2016 not have any good HyperV backup tools? I just need a simple backup of VM's every day. No cloud storage, just to a Hard drive. What do you recommend? Thanks.

I was wondering..... We have two sites next to each other on seperate networks domains. Lets say some disaster happened and we needed to switch all computers to use next doors domain, is there a quick way to do this? We can plug in to nextdoors switch to join the network so that would be easy and I would create new users in AD. I wondered if there was a tool to register all the computers onto the other domain. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I used to work in a school that was a mental hospital / asylum before it became the school. Part of ther playground had to be rebuilt as it sunk down as there were underground cells below. There were parts of the building I would not like to be left alone. At the back of the theatre there were wooden floorboards and a wooden stair case. You would regularly hear foot steps running up the stairs. There was also a long corridoor on the top floor that I would never go down alone. Some staff spent a night there ghost hunting and slept in the old theatre. I have to admit that freaks me out and I didnt stay.

We already use google mail with our domain. It would be 10 to 15 machines. Various people using them.

I’m setting up computers for a small business and have 10 to 15 computers that will need Microsoft Office on. What would you recommend as the best licensing options and cost? I’ve been quoted £948 per year for a 10 machine install of Office. Is this the best sollurion? Thanks for your help.
