Out of all the jobs I've had .... working in school's IT is THE most stressful job I've had. Vandalism and damage to kit is beyond a joke and NOTHING is done about it, even when you have concrete, irrefutable proof which students did it. THIS issue is rarely an issue in the private sector. Generally ... still Unappreciated, underfunded, under-resourced and misunderstood and underpaid. And sadly nothing has changed in the last 5x years or more. Cloud is now the buzzword of the past few years, for everything. Rewarding ... knowing you've improved kids lives (even if SLT and teachers don't see what you've done) e.g. new computers, better Wi-Fi, better networking etc.

Err.... what about safeguarding, hygiene etc. That house could have fleas, you could be allergic to dogs, cats etc. Where's the risk assessment been done?

The AMOUNT of money I've seen schools waste over the years is phenomenal - and usually never spent where it ACTUALLY needs to be spent. Had things sit in storage for months, as they wouldn't approve the repair costs for it. Only for it to be chucked away in the end. Other times they've purchased kit, not planned it properly and for it again - to sit in a cupboard going unused. To vast expenses of thousands of pounds on useless schemes and ideas. I could go on 😕

Honestly..... Think you're gonna have to chalk this one up to experience - Crappy school management/staffing etc. Doesn't sound like any fault of IT remotely, so don't worry. If the school does not appreciate the value the warranty brings, you have your answer (and indirectly,... the decision you've been waiitng for)

What kind of trousers?

Been having same issues since 2013 with any of these... Tried similar. Until it all goes out of date and then..... What to put... NOBODY is interested... until something on there makes them look bad, or achieve their own PMR goals to some degree or make them as SLT / individual SLT look good NOBODY wants to put it on there and do the work as they don't get paid extra for it, As it involves a computer, it somehow ends up becoming IT's job to do it. Yet I wonder if as a displayboard has rawl plugs and screws, they can turn around and say it's site team job to update the display board. Displays come under reprographics and so should the TV's/content management.

What does that give you in benefits?

Up to you ..... But recommend a managed printer / print service these days. (See if you can find anything about these being mentioned in the Meeting digital and technology standards in schools and colleges https://www.gov.uk/guidance/meeting-digital-and-technology-standards-in-schools-and-colleges requirements to back you up) By context... Some SLT don't have CARS that are 10x years old, let alone a printer. Some of our unmanaged ones are 12x years old and have been warned .. numerous times...when they die, they die and won't be replaced.

They have made changes changes to the app and dumbed it down a bit to me in a few ways, but's IT being fussy as we know what it was like before. Compared to Inventry - there is NO contest. I do hope however this is NOT the start of their downfall (taking on too many customers and not increasing support resources to match) exactly like what happened with Inventry.

Because I'm sure as a lot of us have seen - there's a kickback somewhere in the supply/provision chain to someone for getting X number of devices for their Trust/School etc. Don't say it doesn't happen, I've seen it. And most ended up in the bin after a few years of very expensive waste of money

Yep we now have HAF clubs, summer school, revision classes etc in the summer and holidays. One of the few 'perks' in education was having the peace and quiet whilst undisturbed to get on with work in the summer, that seems to be getting less and less now every year.

As @synaesthesia said - never seen a touchscreen board that needs any calibration. i.e. On Smart E70's that wasn't even an option. Otherwise ... Have you tried resetting it to factory settings? Or maybe a custom display resolution in display settings?

Tell your MAT via SLT to get back on site and sort it out. They've caused the problem, the onus is on them to provide you with a fix.
