Did you get this sorted? We've just had server 2008 r2 installed on a new server and suddenly the computers are losing the proxy settings. The 'settings' are there but the box is greyed out in the connection settings... this of course is driving staff crazy and i need a solution asap if poss!!

Another way to access the browser is to right click on the network icon at the top of the home screen > About > click on the link and it opens Chrome! Put your proxy settings in as per busby's steps 2-6!

Where can I find a cheap laptop charging trolley?
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Hardware
Haha! As awesome as that sounds- we would first need to get ourselves a D & T Department for that to happen... x -
Hello! We're looking for a cheap laptop charging trolley for 16 - 20 laptops- anyone know the best place / price to get one? They all seem to be pretty expensive...!!

They're plugged in all the time anyway so battery life isn't an issue. An SSD install sounds like a great idea... x

I think my only issue is the fact they're running XP. They're all definitely older than 3 years now too. The admin PC's are probably older than that!! They run fine but not sure if they'd handle a Win 7 upgrade.

Hi, I've just assigned an upgraded version of Flash (11) to our Software Distribution using group policy and the icon has a green arrow on it... do i leave the old package (10) on there? Or will it still upgrade / install on new machines if i remove it?

We have just assigned filtering rights to myself and the ICT Co-Ordinator (and the head) and use MyLgfl to access the filtering. We just add the sites we feel appropriate to allow to the allow list... Simple and it works. We've just opened up YouTube at a pupil level as it was previously only at a staff level (two seperate network ranges for curric and admin) and it's working well so far. Our rule is that children are not allowed to access YouTube unless accompanied by a member of staff.

Hi Ben, Screenshots attached. In the music section on your background or wherever you want the music (which has to be a WAV- MP3's don't work) you need to make sure the music is turned 'on' as by default it is 'off'. Secondly make sure to 'add' your music file to your library first and then 'add' it in the music file section. I hate Magicinfo too But once you get your head around its limited, slow use you'll win

I'm really really enjoying it!! It's got a great vibe about it and the characters, even though they look a bit older, still have it. And it's funny- i actually shed a laughter tear which is always a winner in my book!!

Swinging my vote is this... looks like people generally like the 3 more and I posted this on Edugeek for the reason that geeky techies generally have a better understanding of this kind of stuff. I'm liking the response. x

I like that idea- it was next on my list of how to make a decision. It's nice taking other people's experience of them on board too though. Helps a lot. Thankyou! x

Good stuff guys thanks- has anyone suffered any battery problems though? Charging issues anything like that? Also- what's the weight like on them with the bigger battery? The 32Gb version does come in at a whopping higher cost which may be beyond budget- so do you think it's needed with the new display?

Hello, I'm looking to get an iPad... in your opinion (as I don't currently own one) which do you think is worth buying and why: iPad 2 or iPad 3? I'm struggling to decide...

Backup suddenly failing
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
I did give it a clean but i'll give it another spin i think. Getting a different error now though after replacing the tape and starting it manually. It did back up data at least but failed with the following error after 6 hours: "Error category : Backup Media ErrorsError : e00084ca - The data being read from the media is inconsistent." I'm going to clean it, swap the tape again and see how it gets on tonight. Hopefully it's sorted itself out...
