    This has been happening to ours just recently...but it's only a recent thing. Its been fine for years with a static IP but all of a sudden- it keeps defaulting to DHCP. Any ideas WHY?

    Hi, I've posted something similar to this before but as yet still haven't found a solution that I understand so i'm going to try again. In school we have a server running 2003 but now recently we've upped all our machines to Windows 7. Since doing this whenever a user logs onto the system it logs them on with a temporary profile. The confusing thing for me is that it doesn't seem to do it on some of the other Win7 machines we have... The staff don't use profiles to log in and it even does it with those but again- only on certain computers. The students have a profile and i've noticed that a .v2 folder has been created for those so i also wanted to know how to transfer the profile settings from the XP profile to the Win 7 profile. Thanks in advance.

    Hi, We have a DELL Power edge 2900 with a few SCSI drives in it and an external USB hard drive for some backup. Could someone recommend a UPS that would be suitable for this machine? Since having new SCSI drives put in our old UPS can't handle the load anymore. J x

    What about folder shares etc...though? I really need it to be backing up the folders and files too as I want to use it primarily as a means of backing up staff work (as our backup drive has decided to fail in time for the holidays!!)

    Hi all! In really basic terms, step by step if possible, could you help me to add an extra 2003 server to our existing 2003 domain to be used as a backup server / replication server?     If it were possible to click 'thank' a THOUSAND times I would have done it to you This has been an issue for weeks and this is the solution. Could this be made into a sticky for now?? I'm sure many people are experiencing the same trouble. Thanks again Adam!!!

    My answer would be 'no' on that one...but these things, despite the fact I don't need to support it, still drives my brain wild! Why is it doing it?? WHY???

    Strange. Just checked the AD and there are users in the same security group who, if they log on, have no problems with hotmail. I have discovered others users in that group though who are experiencing the hotmail problem...

    It does seem to work in other browsers...but even so- i really need to know how to sort it out as I can't be asking all the staff to switch browsers. I'm going to check the GPO settings and report back.

    Still having trouble with hotmail. If I log on to our network as myself (network manager) I can access hotmail without any problems, the 'error on page' doesn't appear. However if a staff member logs in- it shows 'error on page' and he can't access his hotmail inbox. It seems it's a network profile issue but I cannot for the life of me think what it could be... Help...me...please...can't...breathe...

    All of a sudden we have a blinking red light on the back of our server (Poweredge 2900). The light is next to a number '2' and an information symbol. Does anyone know what this could be and how to stop it?

    Hmmm... Javascript is enabled, I tried deleting the history too, temp files...but it's IE 8 so I may have missed something. I can access js.wlxrs.com no problem. It's such a bizarre problem...

    Okay this is getting ridiculous. Can anyone help me with this bizarre issue: A user here logs on, opens internet explorer and accesses hotmail. They can log in but can't open their inbox...it says 'error' at the bottom. Clicking 'Inbox' etc..does absolutely nothing. I log on, open internet explorer and access hotmail. I can log in and access emails. Same computer- same hotmail account to make sure it's not me going insane. I am now going insane. I have cleared the Temp Internet files with no success. The user logging on is part of the 'Admin' group on our server and I am part of the 'Administrators' but I cannot see why this would make any difference. It also happened to a couple of other users too with their hotmail accounts. They couldn't access them but I could. If the user tries it on a different browser- it works. I really, really hope you can help!

    This doesn't work if you have the google voice recognition plugin installed <<< Just discovered. Now i've uninstalled it the world is a more musical place.

    Wow. If this is the case then it's going to be tough finding 18 of the little monsters... Do you have any recommendations as to where I might be able source some cards that will work? A reputable company?

    Wow this is challenging!! The company I am getting the card from have offered this: Gainward NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS Graphics Card 256MB PCI-Express VGA/DVI/HDMI. Will this work??

    I'm trying to get hold of a 8400GS card for a PCI x1 slot and I'm going to see how it gets on as you suggest. Did IT Witch have similar machines to the ones we're using? These small form factor PC's are good but when it comes to graphics card upgrades what a minefield!!
