Got a bit of a wierd problem when using Excel 2003. The user has 3 or 4 different sheets open, as well as other applications, word, IE, 3rd party DB application. At random times, suddenly the user will switch to excel to work and all the cells and text/numbers within the cells is massive (like font 80 or something) and the sheet is completely unreadable. the windows are still operating and you can switch between apps and between excel sheets, but you can't get the graphics back to normal. The user has to close the sheets and then excel crashes (send error report?) and then you can reopen the sheets and carry on. I have never seen anything like this - it doesn't seem like graphics card error, as all the other windows and apps behave normally. Don't know if it is excel corruption or what else to consider - have already reinstalled office!

I recently downloaded the beta release for Ghost Recon Online. the install and updates went through without trouble, and the game runs smooth up until joining a game session. right before my character is loaded into the map, I get the following message: GDRV_cl_Texture::LoadTextdata() fails to init texture File: D:/Build/GRO/live-dev/Yeti/engine/GraphicDRiVer/GDRV_Texture.cpp line: 144 Break now? and the choices of Ok or cancel. my laptop is a Samsung R480, running Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1 Processor: Intel core i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13GHz RAM: 4.00 GB (3.80 GB usable) system type: 64-bit operating system also, it might help to know that i don't use my laptop for gaming very much. aside from LOTR on a cd and minecraft.

Any help would be welcomed. We have two ms terminal servers 2003 and mix of clients, mostly Sunrays but some converted old machines that use MsRdp connections (no Citrix). Up until recently nobody bothered with the high end graphics programs but they are installed on the Ts machines. Now we've got a (rightly) keen ICT teacher who has the kids using Macromedia Fireworks and Flash. You will not be astonished to hear that this slows the performance of the Ts machines right down. Does anyone know of any way to improve the performance, or of a graphics program which will operates within Ts efficiently. From what I can see each use of Fireworks is taking it's own bit of the processor. Thanks in advance. Jay

Hey I put a new CPU fan and hard drive into my computer. So therefore had to re-install windows, of course i installed sims 3, but now when I load it up, my computer makes this squealing noise, its not THAT loud, but it's worrying. I thought it may be my graphics card, however it has never done this before, my graphics card isn't even that old (it's an nvidia geforce 9800 GT). I started to think maybe it was the processor or something? It only makes this noise when loading the title screens and stuff for sims 3, not when i'm actually playing it (playing a family). I'm a complete noob and know hardly anything about computers, so am in need of advice please!

Hi guys I don't quite know if this is a Windows 7 problem or if it is just me making a dreaded USER ERROR. I've recently bought a new Graphics card and installed it, all works fine. VGA works fine, DVI works fine and so does HDMI EXCEPT, no matter what resolution i put the graphics card to, i can't see all of the screen when it's plugged into HDMI. It's not much but enough for me not to be able to see the start menu, nor can i see the first column of installed programs/shortcuts on my desktop. I can't seem to fathom this out for the life of me? Is it something really simple? Please help as i would love to play my games on my telly on HD instead of standard VGA or DVI?

So after an update to the Intel Graphics drivers, we're having issues across pretty much all of our schools where, when the PCs are locked and the screens go into their sleep mode (but the PC stays on), we cannot get the screens to wake back up when pressing the keyboard or moving the mouse. If we downgrade the graphcs driver from the HP website, it solves the problem, right until Windows Update installs the newest version (totally not annoying). We've found a workaround at the moment by pressing the key combo to soft reset the graphics driver from the Windows OS by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+WINDOWS+B. Anyone else come across this?

Hi all We currently use CMIS and are looking at changing our reporting systems. We are looking at using the students Average Point Score at the end of KS2 and then assessing/monitoring the students against this - according to gov't stats students should improve 3 points a year. We are planning on doing a data capture each half term and having graphical reports so we may need to look at something else as a bolt on to the current system - don't want to spend my live in Spreadsheet City if something does this? Thanks Kay

Hi guys, hopefully someone more experienced can help here? I haven't got precise spec of hardware here but will provide later if necessary. I currently run an HP XW6600 twin quad core with 16GB RAM and 2x 250GB drives. I have a graphics card (and for the life of me I cant remember what it is, I have an inkling it might be an FX4700?? with 512MB) with two DVI outs and both are connected to 23 inch HD AOC widescreen monitors (using VGA/DVI convertors) and these run perfectly well. What I now want to do is add a third monitor (initially an old 15 inch Dell that I have kicking around) so I will need to purchase another GPU. I have plenty of PCI-e slots so that is fine and I have done a bit of googling and now it seems it might be more complicated than I expected(???) Now I'll get to my queries: 1. Does my second card need to be the same brand as the first? 2. Online, people have spoken about SLI which means nothing to me, should I be concerned about this? 3. Is there anything I should bear in mind when purchasing the second card, other than what applications I plan to run? (FYI I am a very rare PC gamer (have a PS3 for that) so most use will be MS Office inc Outlook, web browser(s) and a few other graphically low-demanding programs. 4. As I mentioned I currently use VGA cables with a converter, if I switch to DVI leads am I likely to notice an improvement in quality? Thanking you in advance edugeekers! James

Ive had my EEE PC 1000h for about 6 months now - as it was with the default XP install it was fine, no problems. I then decided to upgrade it to Windows 7. After getting all the neccessary drivers it was also working OK. The problem came once I installed the Asus 'Super Hybrid Engine' for managing system performance. On 'Auto' mode its fine, and on 'Power Saving' mode its also quite happy. But when I select 'High Performance' or 'Super Performance' the system completely crashes and I get awesome fuzzy colourfull lines going down the screen (graphics error me thinks?). All I can do then is a battery pull. I have seen the 1000h model run Windows 7 with the 'Super Hybrid Engine' before with no problems. Could it possibly be the GPU on my netbook or a dodgy OS build? System Specs: Windows 7 Proffesional x86 2GB DDR2 RAM standard everything else. Any suggestions appreciated cheers. Chris
