    Hi, We have a trusty, solid, hard working Epson Aculaser C1000. It's started making a horrible, grinding squeaky noise which I believe to be the Fuser Kit. Before we go and spend over £400 for one- does anyone know if this is what it could be? Or do you think it could be cheaper getting Epson out to it? I had a look at the fuser kit and there is a strip of the red roll missing...like it's been torn off or snagged. Looks suspicious to me... Any help appreciated!

    Hello! Just downloaded AVSVideo Editor for the kids here at school as we're fed up of Movie Maker being a fool and not working properly. Anyone tried creating an MSI for installation across the network? Anyone know how to do it? Also- any other free video editors out there that handle all file formats?

    I tried this...it does rename it but doesn't join it to the Active Directory domain. Is there something I'm missing? I've put all the details in except the OU- think this could be preventing it from working?

    Cool stuff All I need to do now is try and get the host to join the domain automatically after imaging...after registering- is it wise to just leave the registered name as it is and then let FOG rename the host? Can FOG rename the host?? And then join it to our domain??

    DONE IT! The solution was to download the Kernel-2.6.35.7.PS and place it into the TFTPBOOT > FOG > KERNEL folder and rename it to bzImage (case-sensitive). VOILA!

    I've just got the problem now after downloading and installing the latest kitchensink- the laptop still won't transfer an image over to fog. The laptop is a FIZZBOOK if that's any help...anyone come across a problem with imaging these before? J x

    Thanks for that- I've booted into the Fog management console, clicked on Kernel updates but nothing happens... This is all it says: "This section allows you to update the Linux kernel which is used to boot the client computers. In FOG, this kernel holds all the drivers for the client computer, so if you are unable to boot a client you may wish to update to a newer kernel which may have more drivers built in. This installation process may take a few minutes, as FOG will attempt to go out to the internet to get the requested Kernel, so if it seems like the process is hanging please be patient." If I could update the Kernel or tweak it (with clear instructions) then maybe it will start working...! Jay xxx

    Hey ho! I'm just getting into using FOG. I tried booting via LAN one of our new Fizzbooks but alas- it isn't compatible with FOG. My guess is i need to update the Kernels on our Ubuntu machine for FOG but have no idea how to do it. I booted from another PC into FOG and everything went fine. Any help makes me happy!! J x

    Hello Admiral, Got it sorted. Don't know WHY they suddenly stopped working but for the last year or so their DNS server settings have been set to 10.51.*.* and their IP set to 10.123.*.* I changed the DNS server settings to be in the same range as the IP address (after successfully pinging it) and now they work. What the??? I know i've sorted it...but why should it suddenly make a difference?

    Hello, Today, for some reason, some of our admin machines cannot function on the network. Our curriculum machines are fine and some admin machines are also fine. We have 2 network cards on our server both going onto our network- we don't have seperate switches. If I change the IP address on this PC to a curriculum one...no problem (i'm typing this!) but if i change it to an admin address...nothing. No network access. HELP! J x

    Hi, We had our server replaced a few years back and so we're left with a redundant DELL Poweredge 1600SC. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions what I could use it for? I'd like to be able to put it somewhere for use...but i'm not sure where. Someone suggested using it as a Linux server (which I quite like the idea of) for things like FOG etc... but I haven't a clue what i'm doing J x

    Hiya, We bought five 7-port USB hubs to charge our Flip Cams. Unfortunately- and this was very annoying- they failed to charge all the devices at the same time. I just don't think there is enough power to handle so many multimedia devices. Some of them started getting hot too probably due to a lack of sufficient power. I'm not particularly savvy in electronics but this is was I deduced from this. Anyone have any other ideas?? J x

    It looks like they're prepared to do that as I've no professional development so far. Hooking up with our local college also sounds like a good idea to exchange student services for training...I like that!

    I wasn't sure where to post this but I've been an ICT technician in Primary school's (two of) for about 10 years now and have no professional ICT qualifications... What would you recommend I do to gain a respectable qualification? My experience so far in the time I have been doing is is Web design, hardware support, network management and software. I also have experience in using Windows server 2003 with Active Directory. Hope you can help so I can persuade school to let me do some studying J x

    One of my colleagues has just suggested using Clonezilla... do you think this would be a good option?

    FOG looks like a good route... We don't have any linux based machines here though unfortunately so i'd have to install it onto a machine. would this work? We already have our server running Windows 2003. J

    Hmm.. I haven't written up any kind of plan as yet. I basically want to remove the need for installing the same software over and over again on the PC's. When we get new PC's I would like to just be able to plug them in, connect them to the network and everything is there ready. Especially now we're getting netbooks without CD drives- it would make it so much simpler and easier for everyone!
