Just to add to my previous post it has also added a user- seemingly at random- who somehow owns the folder and I cannot change ownership, delete the user from the security settings or anything else... what has happened?

I've just been doing that and discovered a horrible sudden file and folder permission error. Even though logged onto our server as Admin, with UAC switched off, I am getting 'access Denied' messages when I try to delete the folder (I was going to start from scratch)... WHHHYYYYY do these things happen?!?!?!

Hi! We have used games such as Shattered Crystal and The flying Carpet successfully in school for years now but with the progression of operating systems, hardware etc... they are no longer working. Not only that they are a little dated now. Does anyone know of any similar or even better software than those for developing cognitive thinking skills? We would be very grateful for any help!

Still struggling with this if anyone is still there to help...! I've done all the steps asked and still no joy... I don't know what I am doing wrong or missing. Could it be the filepath of the MS Office setup file? The share is accessible so i cannot understand why it isn't working. Help!

UPDATE: Despite successfully managing to get the script in the sysvol folder i'm still unable to get it to install. Is there anything i need to do with the config.xml file? It mentions this in the batch script but i was unaware i would need to alter it if using OCT to customise the install. Still need help!

Well it's fixed it for me. This kind of information should be in a Golden Book of Microsoft Blunders. I bet lots and lots of people encounter this problem and spend hours trying to figure it out...!

Do you know if this will affect Outlook as we use this on some machines? Don't want any settings getting obliterated...I'd be in hot water if that happened!

No we don't have anything like that- just the standard Software Deployment in Group Policy. Would you recommend them? Because if it's easier I can get one of them bought!

The processing of Group Policy Failed. Help!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows 7
SOLVED!! After attempting ALL the suggestions provided by the lovely folk here at Edugeek to no avail I reformatted the machine and it's working. I believe the culprit MUST have been the updates...possibly SP1. My suggestion would be to anyone doing this- apply the updates AFTER joining the domain Thanks for all your help everyone- I'm just glad it's all working now! I'll let you know if it blows up after doing the updates again...- 17 replies

The processing of Group Policy Failed. Help!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows 7
Okay I shall give that a whirl and see if it helps. If this doesn't have any effect- what else could it be? I'd be mortified if i had to re-install Windows all over again. Could the fact it isn't activated yet make a difference to Machine Group Policy settings?- 17 replies

The processing of Group Policy Failed. Help!

I didn't switch it off during the Sysprep so that can be ruled out... Looks like this will be the last time i can do it! Fingers crossed...- 17 replies

The processing of Group Policy Failed. Help!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows 7
Wired. I did have to Sysprep this machine a few times (not catching it on boot up...!) :/ so I'm wondering if that may have affected it? I'm going to try removing the computer from the domain, removing the computer object from AD, sysprep with generalise and then re-add it. Think this could work?- 17 replies

The processing of Group Policy Failed. Help!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows 7
I've been joining new computers to the domain no problem for quite a while now- I just seem to be having issues all of a sudden. The PC has an SSD in it so it boots up mega fast- don't know if this could have anything to do with it?- 17 replies

Hello, I've just installed Windows 7 64-bit and applied all updates (took me an eternity) including SP1. Joined it to our domain using the Network ID wizard. Restarted. Computer boots up and is joined to domain. Computer appears in our All Computers OU properly named. I log on and all drives are mapped... ...but when i run a gpupdate /force from the command line it tells me: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following: a) Name resolution failure on the current Domain controller b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current Domain controller) We don't have another domain controller. Does anyone know why the Computer Configuration settings from Group Policy aren't being applied? It's applying the User Config settings... We are running 2008 R2 as our Domain Controller
