hi all We are having issues with Office 2007 clipart getting access to the internet through a pac file has anyone had issues with this? Thanks Phil

I'm (still) trying to get a person's name into the footer of every new Word document that's created. I thought I had it cracked until I noticed that Word only updates some field codes when you print. So whist if someone prints/pront priviews a document their username changes until they do it has my name in the footer. I could enter somthing random like "your username will be inserted here" but I don't want to. I want to have their username from the word go. I've been looking on google and I can't see a way to force the codes to auto update without using a Macro? Is there a way for force a field to update all the time the same way the data does? I've used the record macro feature to record a macro to update the field codes if you go to file and new (AutoNew) or open an exiisting document (AutoOpen). The problem is that I can't get it to work for the document that opens when you first click on Word. If I create an "AutoExec" macro it fails, presumably because the document isn't open. I've included my macor below. Any ideas how to get it to work when I start a new Word? WordBasic.ViewFooterOnly Selection.MoveRight Unit:=wdCharacter, Count:=1, Extend:=wdExtend Selection.Fields.Update ActiveWindow.ActivePane.View.SeekView = wdSeekMainDocument

I'm just having a play around with Visio 2007 and using it to make a diagram of the network, i'm wondering if there are any addins with icons for virual setups. All of the icons are for physical servers I can of course label them which I have done so far but it would be nice to have the correct icons Anyone know where I can download extra addins? Cheers.

Hi Just wondered if someone can help innocent old me! A student has emailed me the below piece of work as he can't get rid of the highlight. We have just set up our new weather station which allows live data to be placed on our website. I would really like to put the same data into a power point that runs in the entrance to our school. Its a continually looping power point and the computer is hooked up to the network and internet. The data cam be got at in two ways. I have an application that uploads a .png image to our school website, and there is also a text / data file that I can manipulate in VB. So can I add the info / picture to a power point so that it changes every time it shows?

Last week we had a strange problem with students ICT coursework where videos (all in WMV) and audio inserted into powerpoint would no longer play (but had previously) and when users selected play they were just shown a white screen where the video should be. The videos play fine outside of powerpoint still and are located in their documents, when removed from the slide show then added again they still won't work. However when I moved the video file into another directory and added them again it works as I thought the path length might of been too long. Problem solved? No afraid not as today the exact same problem has occured including those who had the path and location changed. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Just found out its a 128 character limit on the path and im not sure why it would of worked before and now doesnt, maybe the path before the user logged off was relative and now its absolute?

Hello Does anybody know of a setting which will allow e-mails from particular users to always be displayed at the top of the recipients inbox. For example I receive an email from Mr.X, obviously it will be top of the list but how can I make it stay there even if Mr.Y and Mr.Z email me? Thankyou in advance

Morning All, A bit behind as usual but we've just upgraded our Office installation to Office 2007. It was deployed via GPO using a config.xml. Now when a user logs on the first thing that pops up is the Office configuration wizard. It runs through and finishes. Users can then use Office without any issues. It then asks for a name and initials. Does anyone know of a way to avoid this? We did try another installation method - via script. Thsi worked better but ever time a staff/pupil user opens Word they are given the 'Customer Experience' screen and are asked to put in their name and initials. Which ever way I try and install Office 2007 something goes wrong. We are on 2003 server and users have mandatory profiles. Any advice is welcome, Gareth

Hi all, got a really irritating problem on my laptop, don't get this problem on my desktop machine. Every time I start up the laptop, the options for "Show Microsoft Exchange Messages", "Show Network Warnings" and "Show Network Connectivity Changes" are all enabled, despite the fact I disable them every time I login. It's really irritating me that I keep getting these pointless, unhelpful popups all the time Both the laptop and desktop are running Outlook 2007 under Windows XP Pro with avast email plugin enabled. The only difference between the two is that the laptop is not connected to the domain (i.e. I don't login to the network on startup) Any ideas how I can get rid of the irritating little blighters once and for all?

As per title, can you play several stand alone power points in a playlist like you would with video files? Thanks Chris

Does anyone know what the best practice for this setting on clients is? When should I use it? When should I not? What are the Pros/Cons of this setting?

It is supplied as an MSI. I will deploy it to some staff stations and see how we get on. Links: Link 1: The PowerPoint Team Blog : Producer for PowerPoint: Now Official! Hi We are considering running MS Office 2007 in ICT suite while keeping MS Office 2003 on our school laptops and teacher's PCs. Does anyone know if there are any insurmountable technical issues involved in this setup ? I've been told that running two sets of policies for two ms office apps might be a problem but I cant really see that our current policies for MS Office 2003 are really doing very much and we should be able to run MS Office 2007 in our ICT suite without any policies. Hi everyone Some of our admin staff use Outlook calendars to keep track of site bookings (such as use of drama rooms, evening concerts, etc). It would be very useful to be able to set recurring appointments up (e.g. timetabled lessons) so that they repeat but skip weeks such as half term. With a two week timetable, we can set 'repeat every two weeks', but this gets skewed by one week when half term occurs. Is there any way of setting an exclusion on the recurrence, such that it will 'miss out' one (or more) week/s? Thanks! Stephen

Staff are complaining that the version bundled with 2007 is rubbish and want to know if they can have the previous version of Equation Editor from Office 2003... I don't believe this is possible is it?

I've followed the instructions as per: Use Group Policy Software Installation to deploy the 2007 Office system however the machines are complaining they can't find the config.xml. Even though it's in the same folder as the msi. Any ideas what I've done wrong....?

Having a strange problem here, we are trying to share all the members of the IT support departments calendars through outlook 07. We have sent share invites out and accepted all and each one had the message 'reviewer' when adding, so that should be right for read only. When right clicking the shared calendar in the navigation pane, clicking properties and then permissions, it shows that the user has 'Read - Full Details' and no write permissions assigned. So this should all be right but somehow we are still able to edit eachothers calendars. Maybe I'm missing something really obvious but none of us have had previous experience with this! Could it be a setting within exchange? Any help would be very..um..helpful. Thanks

Trying to set a data connection between sql 2005 and infopath have created it and designed the foem but when i publish it i get An error occurred accessing a data source. An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server. Log ID:6932

We are finally making the switch over to Office 2007 with SharePoint Designer. I have just spent the morning testing and tweaking the deployment and the GP settings - and have finally got myself a working install to roll out. However, our EAL staff want us to be more kind and provide some of our software in more than 1 language. I have grabbed hold of the Lithuanian language pack. Does anyone have any idea if this can be installed in the same installation of Office? I would prefer not to have to run a separate installation if possible? Does anyone else use any of the language packs? Ta muchly!

Well the **** has really hit the fan here. Looks like someone has overwritten a word document containing a students answers to an exam with a blank document. Is there any way to recover the data? I have some pretty heavy duty file recovery software and nothing else has been written to the computer. Does word save temporary files elsewhere that I should be looking for?

Is it possible to somehow without repackaging with thirdparty software to actually intergrate all the current Microsoft Office 2007 updates, instead of just copying the updates to the update folder. It would take too long to deploy on our network (defo the laptops), having it all intergated would take a lot less time. already had complaints, just for updating, java, flash, shockwave, foxit reader which are small programes or would you say just get office 2007 on computer at the time run we upgrade to windows 7 or would use say that there is a way or just too much diffrence at software at once? thanks in advance

So, I'm trying to install a few Office Features as part of a larger batch script. I'm invoking the setup.exe from a network share, passing a couple parameters, including and XML config file. The script runs, it appears to sit and do "something" but afterwards when I check the installed features, and in another application that requires the features, they are not there. Here is my batch file: Here is my config.xml: I've also tried this more verbose XML file: Any ideas why it isn't working?
