Hi Apologies if this is in the wrong place. Recently we've found that students have been accessing a Minecraft port called Eaglercraft (https://eaglercaft.com), we've blocked all links to it online but have found out that all the students need is a HTML file downloaded from the site to be able run the entire thing in a browser offline. Does anyone have any idea how we could go about blocking this file? My go-to was Applocker but as this file isn't technically an executable file Applocker doesn't detect it and so we can't block its hash. Thanks in advance

Best Games out or soon to be released on PS4 I heard shadow of mordor is good anyone played it? I need something other than Fifa!!

Hi all, As part of a reward system, I'm looking to (preferably) source or (if needed) purchase some educational games for our students. Specifically I'm looking for KS3, 4 and 5 especially in Numeracy and Literacy. They would need to be fully enclosed within the .SWF file (i.e. no linked dictionaries) as the VLE's Flash embedding capabilities aren't the greatest. Does anyone know where I might be able to find such resources? I've done a few scans on Google but the amount of malware websites returned somewhat frightens me! Thanks in advance,

Morning all! New to EduGeek. I wondered if anyone has recently been successful at blocking google search query games like: Snake, Pacman...etc I can't just block the search query for "snake", plus no matter how you type snake, it will give you the game to play on a desktop or mobile/tablet. Using Lightspeed Filtering & Sonicwall Firewall... Not sure what to do!

Hey Everyone, I am curious to know what your school's policy or stance is on video games being played and social networks being played accessed on campus. For example, My school allows students to "use their laptop for leisurely activities" during breaks or lunch. The rational is that students need to manage their time and be able to make choices about what they do. Any and all comments are greatly appreciated.

I have a growing population of XBox users who want to use XBox Live. They are all on my network sharing a single internet-facing IP address in a standard many-to-one NAT setup. The XBox tests their connectivity and gives it a rating of "Strict NAT". It recommends port numbers that I should "open". I have checked and those ports are not blocked by the firewall. The next step would be port forwarding, but obviously I could only do that for one lucky user. It also recommends enabling UPnP, but Sonicwall does not support UPnP. I doubt UPnP would work in a shared environment even if they did. Research indicates that my Sonicwall NSA4500 simply will not support it no matter what I do. At best I could buy enough internet-facing IP addresses to give each of them one-to-one NAT and even then they'd only get up to a rating of "Moderate NAT". Does anyone here have a similar configuration, either with a Sonicwall firewall or a different brand?

Hey everyone! I don't normally post in this section of the forum but I have reason to now! I've been approached by Swiss indie game developer David Zobrist as he wanted to make a game / app involving me and my music and it's available to download for iOS and Android for free right now. Go and have a look and see what you think and please rate and review and share it- I'd be very grateful for the feedback! x You can get it here: Jay Stansfield the Game

Technically show the same sort of stuff Forza ( Next Gen ) Yet another MW ( Black Ops ) BattleField 4 FIFA Destiny ( Bungie ) Japanese fighting stuff And what ever Tech they have layed about. Then the important bit, show the bloody console and the spec, the price, the release date. That last paragraph blows Sonys 2hr press conference out of the water.

Slashdot | Games With A Purpose Help With Tasks That Tax Computers Slashdot has this interesting use of distributed gaming to help generate data that can be used to teach computers the basics of vision, speech and music. Can anyone recommend some software that will allow children around 9 years old to make a game, preferably a 2D platform type game where you can import your own graphics etc... and then export it as Flash so anyone can play it??? Help would be appreciated very much!

Is anyone else impatiently waiting for the release of Bioshock 2? Bioshock was the game that convinced me to get an Xbox in the first place. Here the release date is tomorrow and I am quite looking foward to another trip into the dark city of Rapture. As far as I know it is a global release date but it may well have been avalible in civilized reigons for some time by now, if so how was it?

So, Long time video game player here, but short time Edugeek user. I've played many a game, however MOBAs never really appealed to me. I found their gameplay repetitive and sometimes, just not fun. My most recent significant other managed to finally convince me to pick up MOBAs in general recently however, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised once I started playing with someone else who knew and understood the game far better then me. We started with League of Legends, a name I am sure many of you are familiar with and that was an... Experience. I do like it though, it just takes some high willpower. Tried Smite which was an interesting change of perspective and pace, then we moved onto Blizzards Heroes of the Storm. I learnt quickly, that of the three, Heroes was the least popular online for it's simplistic gameplay yet confusing map mechanics, but I personally still like it. I don't really have a favourite personally, but of the three it's certainly between Heroes and League. On Heroes, I play Greymane a lot. His gameplay is really fun and very full on. You really have to be brave and take a lot of risks to go all out, and it's great fun. In League, I play mostly support. I find Taric wonderfully fun and very salt defusing simply from how he plays and what he says. Leona is also pretty fun, just a little difficult not having a reliable heal. Anyway, thought I'd make a thread for people to conglomerate and discuss various MOBAs and their mains and how they would counter other people's mains etc. It could help people, like myself, learn the characters of said MOBAs or understand the meta... Or just be a nice platform for people to chat about the games.

Has anyone tried VFIO to be able to play for example Modern Warfare 2019 or Rainbow Six Siege since they don't have native versions on Linux? If so, what's your experience with it and can I get banned for it? https://www.populationof.net/poland/

Hey guys I am doing some work for IT Manager III: Unseen Forces and thought you might be interested in having a play on a simulation game that puts you in the role of an IT manager. You can use it for training, working out budget frustrations, enjoying games etc!!! Let me know how you get on... Melissa

For those like Me eagerly awaiting the release of the Natal controller for the Xbox 360 for both gameing and more importantly modding the following details should be useful. Current speculation puts the time of release around November this year with an expected 14 games. The seporate hardware will apparently cost about £50 which for the technology involved seems quite reasonable. This will surely get increased to around the NZ$250 mark here though. Project Natal release details emerge | Critical Gamer Microsoft was kind enough to let New Scientist get a hold of one of the units and answered a few of their questions which also prove enlightening. Apparently the Natal system has about a 10 millisecond processing time to recognise a gesture (probably about tripple the wireless latency on the standard controller) and takes about 160 miliseconds to recognise a new player that steps into its field of view. It uses about 10-15% of the processing power of the Xbox and works by shining an infra-red light on players. The brightness is used to track distance between the two black and white cammeras. It can detect body position to within a cube of about four centimeters and can track 31 body parts in each frame. Even hands using body position when they are out of view. The host software is about 50MB worth of 'expert system' that was generated by throwing terabytes of position data at a supercomputer which refined it down to a finely coded art. Microsoft's body-sensing, button-busting controller - tech - 07 January 2010 - New Scientist Personally I am hopeing that the Natal interface becomes avalible in Windows also for development stuff as I can see some rather usefull applications for it in the future especially if integrated into TVs and possibly moniters in the future.

Online games giving you gyp? Well... never let it be said that I don't give edugeekers the first scoop on things. Screenshot here showing a *very* early development version of the promised FlashFilter (as formally announced at the edugeek conference) - as you can see our intrepid dev has grammar issues but we are making steady progress. Catch-rate is not so high at the moment, but once the software is finished, we will tweak the signatures and rules.
