    I find the video and audio behaves better using the teams app (which is just embedded chrome) but for music it's going too be poor, heavy squelching, voice optimized codec, full auto volume level. Headset improves call quality a lot though.

    I've done my 1 year contract and pay monthly, I could just cancel the DD. I phoned and a nebulous message about not cancelling but with no info on a fee freeze.

    I've only half heartedly been going to the gym for the last few months but now that I'm probably not going for 2+ months should I cancel? That is going to cost me £60 for Gym time I'm not even half using. Feel like a bit of a heel doing so though. Anyone cancelling, anything else?

    Only happens on ALL existing PCs, the newly built PCs or upgraded with a fresh install PCs (8.1 to 10) work fine. I have no idea how to troubleshoot the issue.

    that is 99% working cheers, unfortunately it seems that youtube breaks for our local PCs. This must be a swgfl quirk.

    ok using Wpad for ages but I've discovered an issue!     I found a few teachers that had the full Teams client installed on their laptops. I'm confused as they're normal users, Microsoft special source?

    Oh goodness it is as you state, broken on mine as well! Office 2019 here but same difference.. I'd only just got this working.. .FFS EDIT, just checked my VM which has yet to update and online pictures still work.

    I fixed this, it is the allow "do not save encrypted pages to disk" in internet explorer. you may notice that the buttons around the online search alos don't load correctly

    Do they have direct access, vpn or always on vpn? if so you could create a published install for users containing all your approved programs. if not, a remote desktop session is all I could think of. EDIT: published installs will only work on domained PCs.. but I'd assume your software licence would restrict you to this anyhow.

    if you go through the direct access setup and make no real changes, won't it recreate everything for you? (the old add a space delete a space, no actual change)

    Luckily I've been here on edugeek for the past 2 weeks. When I saw the swell in Microsoft Teams threads, I saw the writing on the wall. I got SDS setup in 2 days (thanks to edugeek).. using the salamander extract tool but the real work was getting the sims data in correct. Phew, I did an all hands meeting with teachers last night on teams, it was a total mess but the idea got across. EDIT: there is msra built into windows. (Windows Remote Assistance) just type msra into the run command.

    go to the SDS dashboard, people, students, find the student and see if the student is supposed to be a member. if they are not listed then it's missing from the MIS system. edit: brain fart

    Strange, this has happened just now but all users are unable to install anything using published installs. All the installs immediately fail with "fatal error during installation" This was working just fine this morning, the fileserver with the installs seems to have no current errors and the install work fine outside of the "get programs". I'm not sure how to fix this? 3 users on 4 devices. same issue.

    I'm confused no-one has any policies applied yet, I've used SDS and teachers WITH classes seem to be able to also create new classes and my test teacher and admin staff seem to have a locked down do nothing policy. All users I've checked have global on the left and assigned policy none.. but they have different teams experiences? I'ev manually given myself and my test teacher the "teacher" policy but nothing has changed still can't create a meeting. I did the test teacher before the weekend so it should have taken affect by now?! Help.. I'll apply that script up there in a bit (but as things are mostly working fine, I'm reluctant) EDIT: test Teacher seems all good now? Whilst looking around the left side options suddenly populated and all options seem correct. My personal account not so much.

    oh my word, I've spent 2 hours correcting email addresses that couldn't be matched as sometimes the preferred name was used and others the legal name was used... 67 records but SIMS is a slow pig when you need it! Salamander working great, not sure about the uploading the files went up but the sync tool said it stopped for errors. With the manual files it had errors but got on with it.

    Office 2019 apps can't access the internet when a user is using direct access. The upshot is that all the office apps take an age to start or access anything. so if your offline office is fast, if your at work office is fast and internet available, if you are home connected to private internet and have disconnected direct access the office is fast and internet available, if you are home and connect to private internet and have direct access ON then office takes an age to start and can't get online. This is annoying, office can see the internet connection and tries to fetch internet assets but can't so it takes an age to time out... Anyone have any ideas? Using the online pictures is how I know things are going wrong with office. EDIT: Direct access is configured to get the internet access locally NOT through direct access.

    try pointing to the DC using it's ip address not host name.. I had a dlink camera that was fixed using this.

    using local sims with full SQL.. I was wondering how fast it should be. 1000 pupils big.. it takes 2-3 seconds to get a list of pupils from the search and about 3-4 seconds to bring up their record.. Not bad, Not great. I was going through student records and it feels so much slower that the numbers show. any pro tips for making it faster? 8gb ram 4 cores of xeon 4110, full sql. 6gb database. on a dell raid 6 direct sas.

    its a real shame that edge pdf printing is such an issue. We have sharp printers here. I'm again deploying Adobe PDF to stop this issue. EDGE would be a great solution as PDFs are one of the big vectors for viruses. I only update adobe once a year as its a hassle.

    update: it is our fault! it seems that almost all of our errors are because although we have a "work" email ALOT are not set as primary and main... Doh.

    I've starting using it today alas it's run into trouble here but is 80% there... 2 issues I'm having. it won't collect a students "work" email if the notes field (for the email address) as any info in it. (or maybe illegal chars, in notes?) about 1/3rd of pupil addresses missing it won't collect teachers "work" email if it’s not set as the main and or primary address. (more testing needed) Doesn’t pick up valid addresses correctly marked “work” no visible notes entry. about 1/5th teachers missing emails. Looks like a great tool, if it can work 100% Admin told me that they can't do anything about ALL classes having a fore slash in them, (luckily salamander has that covered) but classes shift a lot during the term, so frequent updates maybe needed. I wonder how much SIMS ID is gonna cost?
