I've been using group policy for over a decade and didn't know this was built in to group policy.. Years of rebooting PCs, logging in and doing a manual update like a buttt.

I've just made this mistake, I replaced bulbs in 2 projectors that are 7+ years old (I was waiting for the bulbs to fail) and it made no change. They're dim and look bad. The old projectors were 2200 lumen's new budget projectors are XGA 3600 lumens and the difference is amazing. I think you can sign a school up for Office365 for free students and educators BUT if you want office on the desktop (not the web versions) then you'll have to buy some licences. Unifi is ok. Cheap but technical support is terrible. its the bargain you make. if unlimited money was available I'd use Meraki.

Have you deleted the device in device manager AND deleted the driver when doing so? Then let Windows pickup the correct drivers for you. (probably same drivers but may help clean up) you'll need to hardwire it.. of course. Also use the check for hidden device in device manager and see if a ghost copy of the device is being a pain. Also is this your image or the Windows it came with. (possibility of other helpful software)

The active wall speakers are the way to go. @Steve21 mentions (used to be saharas) They are not only loud enough but do very well but clear enough so that you can hear the speaker. We used to get them for our mono VHS 3rd generation tapes... We still get them turn them on, set the volume and they'll always work. They don't squelch, or power down unexpectedly no humming or buzzing and nice long leads. They include wall brackets. The only alternative, I've been considering are sound bars for TVs, some also have wall mounts. (but may power save and have many inputs.)

4gon are the distributer for Ubiquity AND they are a retailer. So if you order from someone else they may still arrive from 4Gon.

SDS won't affect manually applied users was my understanding. I use CSV syncing so maybe it's different.

BIOS updates only if something isn't working well. Like my brand new HP 440 G7 laptops that randomly decide that USB-C doesn't work anymore. The BIOS update for the laptop actually updates the firmware for several devices (inc usbc controller) The only must BIOS update really is a new server. (before installation)

Basic thing to check is that the bitmap compression is set to medium or draft, anything else and the prints come like treacle. Especially from the laptops.

I guess I'm lucky I never locked this down.

I think I got lucky that 99% of my laptops had mics and cameras built in. I NEVER specced a laptop to have them it just kinda worked out. This has been a butt saver in the lockdown. The only real issue was getting TEAMs to not pick the external mic EVERY time.. Most laptops I'd never checked the webcam even worked or had drivers. (as we buy reconditioned)

You could deploy a scheduled task that logs users out when the PC becomes inactive.

I've done a few lessons with a remote teacher now. Just have the TA use a laptop and point it at the class from the teacher desk. Mostly positive results.

I have the favourites folder redirected (the GPO with music, video etc.) to their documents folder in a folder called favourites....... And I realize right now that edge doesn't save favourites in favourites! What? This hasn't been pointed out by anyone yet..

I have a mix of ST-LC ST-ST and LC-LC fibre. I've noticed that some are 50/125 and some are 65/125 now I've never paid attention to that before so is this an issue, there doesn't seem to be a correlation to the age or type of connector. I'll assume if its working its fine? I know I've randomly just used what was around... all multimode mix of om1 - 4

btw, the issue has occurred in the middle of a different support call with Microsoft. This is where some teams recordings would not playback on some IOS devices, the support guy at MS said that the stream record guys rolled back an encoding optimization that caused that issue and wanted to verify the fix. Now this stream upload problem occurred. yay!

EDIT: It'll say recording unexpectedly ended and offer to download it and not sync to stream. We have this issue, a MS guy took screen recording and wireshark logs whilst it went wrong. And is looking into it. a1 plus faculty licence.
