how do I deploy an exe? or use a exe in a deploy..
chazzy2501 replied to chazzy2501's topic in Windows
I found the issue and it's working thanks... the log file didn't work but I don't think things can go into the root of c anymore here is what was happening. Strange char at the beginning. I typed a new one by hand as I could find it in the original file. EDIT: Wrong! I see the corel.log now... The asynchronous nature of the thing threw me.- 10 replies

we've been pointing the laptop at the classroom setup by the classroom TA. In some rooms we got the hue visualizer put it on a shelf and pointed at the class Blended learning at its finest.

thanks @atcoates this is the guide they provided it doesn't however state the limitations placed on the standard version that doesn't allow deployment in 2 of the 3 ways described using msi files. Corel's bat exe deployment in the guide states "visit Microsoft website"....nice.- 10 replies

We also have the new HP Probook 440 G7 with 13 HP G5 USB-C docking stations. The docks are connected to interactive boards, mice keyboards, vga and hdmi projectors all works well. BUT and big but, USB-C is sensitive, with all the cleaning and hand sanitizers in use around, some docks have occasionally stopped working. No amount of plugging and unplugging or wiggling will work and they to the eye look immaculate.... Here is the key! we have a can of circuit cleaner I have on 2 occasions seen a totally borked dock act fine after spraying the inside of the usb-c male cable. (whilst off) My feeling is that USBC is the future but fussy, so also buy a can of circuit cleaner.

Dang, mines not working and I can't find an event log error or anything. How do I get it to make a log? @echo off if exist "C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\CorelDRAW Standard 2020\Programs\DrawStandard.exe" goto :END "\\fileserv1.dcc-sch-4505.local\distribution point\corel2020\Setup.exe" /qn :END exit I put it in as a machine startup script, placed the .bat file in the show folders area of the gpo and used it. Did I miss anything?- 10 replies

CorelDraw 2020 Standard 2803 install error.
chazzy2501 replied to chazzy2501's topic in Educational Software
Corel Support tell me that as I have the standard version, I'm not allowed to deploy.... Just no where is that written, in the instructions or the literature before purchase. I can only use the setup.exe.. -
Sorry, I should say I use SDS and salamander, I was talking about the things it doesn't do. (tutor groups, subject departments, non-class groups)

this is a work email, I only use it to check on issues with facebook or the facebook wifi. I don't have a personal facebook.

I've trained Teachers (and they've trained themselves) to create their own team groups. They seem happy with this, they're also in charge of making their own tutor group as that doesn't come over either.

help! I tried to login to the school facebook page and it re-directs me to a site called "facebook business manager"! I can't leave, I can't surf regular facebook and check posts or add posts it just brings me back to the business manager. I've seen countless articles on how to leave or sign out and they all have circular instructions that require buttons or links I can't find. What the hell is this thing? There is no logout, quit, leave, go to regular facebook. no explanation for why I'm seeing it and not my facebook page? I just can't believe it, I've wiped credentials, open private browser and it take me there again.

Equipment for staff to deliver lessons from anywhere
chazzy2501 replied to mdrabble's topic in How do you do....it?
if you get laptops with USBC you could also upgrade the rooms (quickly) with a USBC dock or adaptor. The dock could connect the sound and picture using the existing VGA and audio. This would have a single cable solution to the laptop. The teacher would only need to plug in the usbc plug and get everything for the room. The docks can also provide power for the laptop to charge it (if you spend more) we have docks here that also provide the usb for the interactive boards and a usb DVD drive for the more arcane teacher. The teacher only plugs in a single cable that can go either way around, so it's simple. our HP G5 docks do connect to VGA using a DP to VGA adaptor far more reliable than a HDMI to VGA as it's designed to do that. Edit, the docks also provide 1gig ethernet (in some areas) Double edit: I say all this so you don't have to limit your laptop choice to having VGA and ethernet. (which will be a hefty unit) -
I'm following the deploy for GPO guide. I've done the "setup.exe /a" and created a basic admin image. I'm now trying to install the resulting draw.msi from the image and I'm getting: Error 2803.Dialog View did not find a record for the dialog SetupError. The photoshop also errors but the shell install worked fine. ideas? I've re-done the admin files to a local drive and tried the msi files from there and it doesn't work. if I run the files from the mounted iso it installs fine. (but I can't deploy that as it has no license info) The procedure hasn't changed from older versions of CorelDraw so I'm hoping someone has run into this before..

if HDR is going to be a thing then I'm told that the TV must be able to output at brightness of a 1000nits. if not then you're getting HDR like or HDR "support". Something like this for HDR:https://www.amazon.co.uk/HISENSE-65U8QFTUK-Quantum-1000-nit-Freeview/dp/B089NBB7MC I'm not recommending this TV just highlighting that if you want to see the step up in image quality you'll need a 1000 nit TV (and they advertise that they can) BTW don't be fooled by marketing wbank like HDR1000! if gaming then a HDMI 2.1 for variable refresh and auto game mode with low latency would be nice.

to hop vlans you double wrap a packet. The switches just dumbly remove the vlan wrapper on the packet, if a packet smith double wraps a packet the switch will double unwrap it. (with no security checks) then the packet essentially hops to another vlan. Good for ARP poisoning etc. I heard it in a security now episode years ago some my terminology may not be correct. but the idea that VLANs like mac address filtering should never be used for security is well known.
-
Just a reminder that VLANs offer NO security they're for managing traffic, it is trivial to "hop" vlans. The Meraki APs are the best I've seen as it can not only NAT the traffic at the access point (what I use) but if you're really paranoid it can setup a VPN between the AP and the Meraki Firewall. I only have pair of Meraki APs (as they cost loads of money) this is for open facebook wifi for the 6th form study areas. I also have staff guest (with a key) using unifi and this is on a vlan to a domestic vdsl but it is only issued to staff and agency workers.

This may sound strange but I've deliberately not done this kind of integration. This allows the office experience here at school to be the same as at home. Here we can train and reinforce the workflow that they should get used to. I do not even have a shortcut to office.com. EDIT: I also find that more pupils are using the online version of word with the new edge browser than the local one. So I may move away from a locally installed office in the future.

Microsoft Teams. In a nutshell how does it work?
chazzy2501 replied to Sonic007's topic in Office Software
Teams ties a lot of things together, its makes security group, a distribution group, email group of users very easy, makes file storage and distribution for that Team, creates OneNote classes or PLCs for that team. messaging like forum for that group also video and desktop sharing with the team or everyone in a tenant. Combine this with SDS (to make team groups from sims) and it's a big leap towards blended learning. -
This is a £130 Ali Express laptop at best. I recon at this qty they cost around £88 each. How the heck do they get away with such a poor procurement process.

These have eMMC storage, this is the kiss of death for a windows machine. Basically windows on an SDcard. The DFE dynabooks had 4gb and a celeron but a real sata m.2 128gb SSD and they work quite well. edit: correction

The SWGFL have again changed settings on me after breaking the DES finance system and our Trend Heating system a few weeks ago. Now Adobe Lightroom isn't working. The program stalls for ages loading and cant access it's online resources. The SWGFL interface lists the PCs affected as not having any (relevant) sites blocked. I've allowed the adobe.com and some others but it still fails to load libraries. Anyone else run it to this?

I hope you said it's not possible as they no longer qualify under the current licensing agreement. But if they wish to PAY to keep the accounts active it should be no isssue.
