New DFE laptops, re image, no sound, no driver, driver doesn't exist anywhere on the entire web... wtf? I copy and pasted the device ID into google and for the first time I've ever seen I got 3 adverts and NO results! The driver page for the devcie lists only realtek audio drivers (which I tried in desperation) I tried the intel display and chipset... no luck. 1 hour pi55ing around whith this thing...... argh! sound worked before re-image,,, INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0256&SUBSYS_3100F021

set the administrator password only (hold insert when cold boot).. leave user blank.

I'm not putting it on pupil PCs as the additional features are minor (for the attendee). Although Teachers are standard users they can install Teams just fine on their 1:1 laptops. I said it was optional in the training but most have done it.

I have HP laptops Probook 440 G7 and the HP USB-C docking station (as it has mac address passthrough). They both had firmware updates out of the box. I'd say they have been 99% reliable. The only times I've had a dock fail was because of COVID! Teachers were slathering their hands with gel and immediately picking up the dock cable or over zealous cleaners were spraying the desk and soaking the cable. It errors are usually everything but picture, no charge, network and sound won't work. All of these were fixed with contact cleaner.. (so far) I'm 9 months in. My only worry is if the cable can be replaced if damaged. oh and USB-C extension cables are hit and miss. picture but no sound/ networking and charge. Not sure how to spec an extension lead.

yes, we purchase most of our HP, Lenovo, SFF Power supplies from eBay. During lockdown we were able to purchase numerous old visualizers for cheap. (as the HUE ones are tiny toys)

A UST Projector can be used with a standard large Whiteboard, this gives a single focus to the room (no second small whiteboard). The board itself has a low value and can be damaged without huge losses. I still think this is the cheapest way to get an interactive display of this size installed. £1100 vs £1600 Epson vs Clevertouch We use Epson UST with the optional interactive feature.. So as a 65 to 85" image with interactive features for around £1000. (install is more involved and maintenance higher) Bulbs last approx. 3 years and cost £65 each (official lamps). Projectors are nearly 10 years old and still ok! Some nice network features (for monitoring) and the warranty was 5 years.

some projectors can come on when a signal is detected (even VGA which is nice.) some projectors are on ethernet and accept telnet commands (startup script on teacher PC) and some projectors accept HDMI CEC commands, so usb CEC injector or a graphic adaptor that supports CEC. and of course the if no signal turn off power saving that you all set because teachers don't "have time" to turn them off.

no, you've done everything right. I could only blame the chipset on the laptop (frail or touchy) or the board firmware at this point. A docking station for the laptops (maybe) if they're USBC... I have a few purplely pink avctiv boards (15 years old) working on puny thin 5m cables into our HP Probook 440 G7 and have never done a firmware update on them. No issues.. (not helpful) Those boards have their own 6Volt PSU though.
