Our pupils use ttrockstars on their ipads. They can access it in Safari, and in Chrome if they are logged out but if they log into the school google account on Chrome they re blocked "You do not have access to this service, to request access contact the administrator" I cannot see what service I would need to allow for this website? It's just a basic maths times tables website. Anyone seen this before?

I am sure that's true but it's easier said than done.

We have been using Matrep for our end of year reports - it's not fancy but it's very easy to use and we have been happy with it. I've just been informed that they are closing the site down, so I need to look at alternatives. Many years ago we used SIMS for this, with Marksheets, and excel spreadsheets and it was cumbersome, and slow. Also staff don't have access to SIMS directly (They use the Teacher app on iPads), so using SIMS isn't an option. Any other suggestions? We are a middle school, we give a teacher comment for approx 10 different subjects, with potentially a different teacher for each subject. Plus a score for behaviour, attitude to learning etc. We use Otrack for data and for a summary data report but we need something to facilitate the commenting.

As so often seems to happen when I post on here, I find the solution shortly after. Posting here in case anyone else is struggling at a later stage. It appears you can't share an ethernet connection, but when I switched to Wifi and removed the Ethernet I was able to setup the USB option and it is now working.

I had my Mac setup to share the internet connection via iPad USB which was very useful for unlocking locked iPads. Since I have upgraded to Ventura, it will no longer do this, the options to allow internet sharing are greyed out, so I can't tick anything to select it. Previously there was a padlock to unlock options, but the padlock is gone. I've just upgraded to the very latest iOS in the hope that it would fix the problem but it's made no difference. Any ideas?

We use a Shared Staff Google calendar, and all staff members have an iPad. On my iPad, which I have been logged into for some time, I can see all the shared calendars and staff events. On new iPads, whether logged in by a new staff member, or by myself, we are only seeing the personal calendar and not any shared calendars. I have tried readding the person to the staff calendar, and used the https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/syncselect page, but they won't appear. They do appear in the Apple Calendar, but not in the Google Calendar app.

[ipad] Gmail blocked on JAMF - restrictions enabled
Bev replied to Bev's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I've done that now, but we do want the kids to have access to Gmail at home. But I also want the parents to be able to block social media. I don't think Gmail is really a social media app -
[ipad] Gmail blocked on JAMF - restrictions enabled
Bev replied to Bev's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I am going to reply to myself in case anyone else has an issue with this It's the JAMF Parent app. If the parent restricts 'Social Media' then this includes the Gmail app. -
I am having an issue with our iPads, they have the Gmail app installed but on some iPads the app is hidden and if you search for it and try and open it you get a message which says "Restrictions Enabled, Certain apps, features or services can't be seen or used when restrictions are on. To use this app turn Restrictions off' The iPads are all in JAMF School, and if I remove all the JAMF Profiles but leave them registered in JAMF this continues to happen. If I delete JAMF completely then Gmail reappears. When JAMF is installed with no profiles, there is a restriction showing in settings which says 'Prohibited application list added' but I cannot see where this list might be. I definitley haven't added Gmail to a list anywhere, and Gmail is rated as age 4+ so it's not an adult filter thats set. Any ideas?

[ipad] Can I move ipads from one mdm to another?
Bev replied to pooley's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Yes, I moved all of mine from Lightspeed to JAMF a few years ago. Ideally you will need to wipe them but in Lightspeed it was possible to remotely delete the profile from the iPad, and then I could enroll them in JAMF by scanning a QR code. This puts them into the new MDM but the profile can be removed manually so it's not ideal. -
We are having a similiar issue. I just want to use Guest logins as pupils don't logout when they return the iPads, so temporary logins would mean gmail etc was all reset each time. However, it appears to hold 16GB for the temporary logins and then after 2 or 3 uses it says the iPad is full. I can't delete the cache from JAMF as it says the user doesn't exist. So, it seems like Shared iPads just won't work with guest logins. Our Apple IDs are far too long / cumbersome for students to login / out with them each lesson.

Aha, I have started using a USB C cable. I will try a normal cable. Although it won't be an official Apple one as all my apple ones are USB C

I managed a lot of iPads and have always been able to get an iPad into DFU mode using these instructions. A9 and older devices (iPad other than the ones listed below, iPhone 6s and below, iPhone SE and iPod touch 6 and below) Connect the device to a computer using a USB cable. Hold down both the Home button and Lock button. After 8 seconds, release the Lock button while continuing to hold down the Home button. If the Apple logo appears, the Lock button was held down for too long. Nothing will be displayed on the screen when the device is in DFU mode. If open, iTunes will alert you that a device was detected in recovery mode. If your device shows a screen telling you to connect the device to iTunes, retry these steps. However, I have really struggled with this recently. I've got one today that wont connect to the wifi, having tried everything else I thought I'd do a full reboot from DFU but I can't get it to boot into DFU to save my life. It's an 8th gen iPad, has the process changed? It does have a home button, so I am assuming it still uses this method but I always get the apple logo no matter how long I hold down the lock button.

Teachers messaging home - specifically 'Well done', positive messages
Bev replied to Bev's topic in How do you do....it?
I've just setup a test family member on Seesaw and I was able to receive a text notification. But who is paying for the texts? It comes from an international number.
