Thanks lolcalzuk - much appreciated So there is nothing needed to cover our backup server? (single physical server 2016 unit that does not run any VMs) and just the total of 4x16 is needed from a SvrDCCore point of view to cover the hypervisors? With our system center licenses, we will only ever run them on 3 of the 4 hypervisors we have, so would we just need 3x16 to cover that?

We run a total of 22 VMs across these 4 hypervisors. (we also then have a single 2x10 separate physical HP DL380 G9 as our backup server) My understanding so far, is that on the hypervisors, a minimum of 8 cores must be licensed per CPU, and a minimum of 16 per whole server must be licensed - so we match that perfectly as we need 16 cores licensed. 16 cores x 4 hypervisors = 64 cores requiring license in total However, as highlighted in bold, we purchased a 2Lic bundle, and on the VLSC it shows 128 cores: so, would I be correct in saying that we only need 32 x 2Lic bundles instead, so the VLSC shows 64 cores are licensed? (or is there some extra convoluted calculation I have missed as part of this?) In addition to this, what licensing is required for the backup server with 2x10 cores? or is that not needed as it's not a hypervisor? System Centre Licensing So once again, this was bought in a 2Lic bundle - so the VLSC shows that we have 48 of this I'm really struggling to understand this licensing at all. We run SCCM and SCVMM, all as VMs on the aforementioned hypervisors.. Thanks for the reply chazzy This was my original setup, but what I've found with this, is that although it boots without asking for the password, you can then get in to the BIOS (via F2 or F12 - Enter Setup) and have full control in the BIOS and can change settings - this is all achievable without having to input the supervisor password at any point I tried to change the 'read access rights' (or similar title) to 'read-only' as the default is 'full control' - but then that brought back requiring to enter the password on boot! What it feels like with the password being entered, is that once that is done, until the machine is powered off, it then 'remembers' that the password has been entered, and it is happy to keep going - for both restarting boots & entering the BIOS

Hi there Apologies if this is a silly question.. I'm having a nightmare and have tried every combination I can see, but still having no luck.. We have some of the Government Dynabook Tecra A40 laptops I've tried to set the BIOS password (options are 'user' and 'supervisor') - but when I set them, a cold boot always asks for the password, which we can't have happening - but we need to keep the BIOS under password protection Does anyone know of a way around this/what settings can achieve this? Thanks in advance!

Not sure if you managed to sort this, but I had a similar issue with sound after reinstalling from a USB.. After installing the drivers ripped from another machine, as mentioned above by @Norphy I managed to get it working by disabling the Realtek HD Audio device in device manager, rebooting, re-enabling and voila - it then seemed to be back to normal hope this helps!

We've just had our allocation of these delivered today too.. We're trying to PXE boot them, but I can't even get to the checking media presence screen - I must be missing something blatantly obvious, even after scouring BIOS options for well over an hour.. any suggestions?

Thanks for you reply @Steve21 This was done on Friday and I've just tested it this morning (Tuesday) but it hasn't seemed to disable the function I've also applied a test policy and verified that's applied (by adding in a 'feature' we normally have off) as that showed that instantly I've checked our student licenses too but there is no sign that it's anything to do with a Skype for Business license as none of them have that license assigned

Hello there We're faced with an issue at the moment, whereby students have discovered the 'chat' feature within OWA on outlook.office.com Does anyone know how we can disable this element? I've been looking for the last hour or so and haven't really got anywhere on it.. I've disabled the IM feature in the global EAC OWA policy but that's made no difference Any help is greatly appreciated! many thanks

Resolution for anyone who may stumble across this at a later date.. 1) create a new content search in O365 - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/content-search?view=o365-worldwide - add condition, type - email, add/remove more options, select 'contacts', search location select all on the Exchange e-mail group - save & run 2) scan through the results just to make sure it's what you're after 3) connect to an instance of SCC through PowerShell - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/exchange/office-365-scc/connect-to-scc-powershell/connect-to-scc-powershell?view=exchange-ps 4) once connected, run djm968's command - New-ComplianceSearchAction -SearchName "compliance search name" -Purge (changing compliance search name to the name you specified in step 1, keeping the quotations) 5) leave it a little while to run - I couldn't find a command to check the status, but I found that if you run it again it should return a result, with the last column being status - complete

Thanks for the quick replies @synaesthesia - I'm just running a 90 day trace, but at present from the last 7 days there has been 3 e-mails outbound to the outlook address (3 students sending homework) and 3 e-mails inbound (the teacher then forwarding them back to her school account) - I agree mailing them shouldn't make them appear, but her personal e-mail isn't even on her MIS profile! @TechMonkey - no such luck with AAD unfortunately, again no results - there's only 40 or so in that list altogether @E_G_R2 - I tried that to begin with (we had a case before where contacts weren't hidden from the GAL so all parent contacts stored in AD were visible to students..) - unfortunately no luck with that either, as there is no User or Contact that exists to hide

Hello We've had an issue arise where students are searching for a teacher, and their personal @Outlook.com e-mail appears in the directory in O365.. There is no trace of this in AD, and never has been (syncing via AADS) There is no record at all in the EAC for the Outlook address The only place this would have been used, was when they were in the process of joining the school, correspondence would have been sent to and from that e-mail, but only via a single mailbox (for recruitment) When I search from my mailbox, I can hover over the address and click the 'X' to remove it, however that is only for me (and I have never e-mailed this teacher) I've then gone in to another user mailbox and started to search but it's still there (just to prove that my last step was only affecting my address book) Has anyone seen this before/knows what it could be? We had a VM using AVHDX files, which was growing exponentially - I tried to convert it to a VHDX but it only took an old snapshot from January 2018.. I've then re-established the parent links for all the increments (all 450 of them) but now I've set the VM to use the latest AVHDX once again, it's been stuck at "Starting 10%" for almost 2 months, with nothing budging it! I've tried Stop-VM -Force and killing the VMWP.exe process for it, but to no avail. Has anyone managed to fix this kind of issue before?!? TIA
