    you can manually point to a url with the firmware. I use the wpad location as all devices can access that url easily. I just bung the firmware in the folder with wpad.dat copy the url and tell it to use the update. you can enable multi select in the webinterface to batch update using the custom url.

    @Arthur Millgate first offered me the M75q G2 Ryzen 3 Pro 8GB 256GB W10P 3Y OS for £342.19 each (exVAT) that is the USFF type. EDIT: that should be the 4000 series as that was what I spec'd was a 4350G Edit2: that is a sweet monitor.

    ok, doing via group policy, using calc as a base to put in the custom fields and using publisher "CN=0A0B0503-04C2-4CCF-9BC2-4F164DC80FEE" phew! it works.. Thanks everyone I was going to get peed off.

    ok, AppLocker doesn't seem to function for any user. I tried blocking calc and it just kept popping up. I created a local user but no change. check enforcement and it was on. This is a headscratcher. oh, I'm using Windows 10 Education. (which has the feature)

    @Paid_Peanuts I paid £358 each from Millgate, they come with peripherals and a 3yr onsite warranty (which is nice) My account manager is Sarah whom I make many demands too! edit: also they have 10gig usb on the front! (my first)

    Don't worry about it, the map is almost worthless. you can set the scale for your APs somewhere, I'll assume it was changed between batches.

    Thanks @jthompson it hadn't occurred to me to just use local GPO for testing. The following all local: I still can't stop it from running, I've used applocker turned on enforcement, chosen the appx from the list, deny everyone.... and it still runs!? rebooted and tried as a non-admin still runs. added the exe to the exe deny (using applocker rather than SRP) still runs!? am I missing a step. (I started application identity service in case, no change)

    cheers people, I got confused because the file is called radeonsoftware.exe but SRP can't stop it from running. I've enable AppLocker with default rules. (in audit mode) to see what happens. I can't see how to add an appx that isn't installed on my local PC. C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AdvancedMicroDevicesInc-2.AMDRadeonSoftware_10.20.10027.0_x64__0a9344xs7nr4m\radeonsoftware\radeonsoftware.exe this is the file, I can't run it manually and SRP can't stop it?! So package app rules is appx right? (how do I add a package that isn't installed locally?) Also Do I have to start the appx service on my PCs? cheers

    applocker is being a pain and will not allow me to extract the publisher information from any exe I drag out of the appx folder. every exe I present it with state that the file is not valid... so software restrictions it is. I'll block the directory.

    Not sure how to stop the radeon software dashboard that is installed automatically with the graphics driver. I don't wish Pupils to use it (esp, as it has it's own web browser in it and can launch software!) I also hope that the win+r (Radeon Overlay) can be disabled via gpo as well. This is part of the drivers so hopefully don't louse up the graphics driver! (I'm thinking software restriction policy) is it a store program or exe?!? note: I didn't install the driver it was fetched by Windows.

    I have a similar issue only with my older HP laptops the Elitebook 8460p and 8470p. The webcams will be black always, sometimes work (if turn off video and on again) and sometimes go black whilst working. I will also state that the issue only occurs with the teams desktop client. zoom, the camera app are all fine. All my devices use the same network and firewall, so you may want to investigate drivers or device firmware. (hp bios updates do camera firmware sometimes?!)

    outlook desktop client, this would require the desktop teams app to be installed also. but I guess this might be quite the departure for them. All our staff have outlook and I said they can install teams if they wish. (which most have, as you don't need admin permissions)

    you could use outlook to create the teams meetings. The auto complete should work as you'd expect. if the user has the teams app installed then the teams option will appear in outlook when you create a new meeting.

    oh, I'll add this as a separate note. if you want mircast with User Input Back Channel (UIBC) for an interactive display there are none, they all use their own software. I did look at getting a Interactive display with a Windows PC built in then have that using the connect app (mircast) in kiosk mode. My early tests were hit and miss.

    The v3 Microsoft Display Adaptor (4k version)is £45 on insight. It now has CEC so can change the input (so one less headache) it has a clear prompt on the screen (Win+K) and you can customise the wallpaper. The new adaptor can optionally connect to your wifi directly this will offer performance benefits but will also allow regular users get a popup on their device telling them its available. This allows for a one click connect. ((this is because it is expected that the device is powered off with the display as most displays power off their usb when in standby)) The scenario is that the user turns on the display the adapter powers up at the same time and when its finished booting (30s) it can alert the user via the desktop. (they have to connect once for this to work) otherwise do the win+k. EDIT: I highly suggest that you double tape the dongle slightly protruding from the display (if a tv) for a much faster pairing and better response (wifi through the panel works but unpredictable).

    The monitor is a stand in, they're on a different order;) I'm trying to get IPS or VA panels this time. I put the Crysis 2007 demo on it and it ran 60+ 720p medium. I haven't pushed it further yet. oh, happy to report the lenovo has 4 memory slots (peeked inside) so upgrades should be easy.

    These are not only better than my office PC but better than my old 4790k at home. I'll stick a game on it later and see how well the IGP does. single 8gb ram though...next years upgrade as no prebuilt can be configured with dual channel ram. (it would seem)

    just another plus for the display adapter, they can clone BUT also do extend as a full second monitor. This make powerpoint look nice with the presenter mode. With all devices sound defaults to the screen when connecting, just like using a HDMI cable. I will admit that sometimes you have to try the connection twice. (on the v2 and v1 but not yet with a v3 but its new)

    I got HP ProBook 440 G8 with the i5 and the new iris graphics. These have a usbc which with a dock will do all connections and power with a single bi-directional cable. (usbc) not a drop on dock but the next best thing. 440's were £515 academic pricing. G5 Docks are £129. The usbc carries the displayport signal so no loss of quality or compression for the image. (also the dock will work with the ipad pro)

    I've been using the Microsoft Wireless display adapter v2 for a while and the v3 (4k version) is a little better and not that much from insight. £45.99 https://www.uk.insight.com/en-gb/productinfo/mice/0011131296-00000001 the v3 can connect to your wifi directly so it can announce to the regular user when it is available, this also is supposed it improve performance. (I haven't had issues so can't tell). The V3 has HDMI CEC so can change the input to its self if the TV is on the wrong input. (one less headache) I haven't got a 4k display so it uses 1080p The adapters can require pin numbers (on the screen) and can password the settings. The v2's party trick is that it only requires 500ma from the usb so can run off any displays usb output. The 4k requires 1000ma (still modest) and my older display still powered it just fine. The v2 and v3 can now have a custom wallpaper whilst waiting for connection, so upgrade the firmware!
