    I have the usbc HP docking station G5 that has the display port alt mode and PD I plug it into any usbc hole I see and see what happens surprised at what devices support it! (ipad pro) and a crummy DFE supplied dynabook usbc can be as lame as a usb a port with just 5 gbp, or have 3.2x2 usbc that is 10 gigabit, carry DP-alt mode so a portion of the bandwidth is dedicated to display port data and PD is power delivery at various current and voltages. Thunderbolt 2 and 3 uses a usbc port but isn't usb but intel opened up thunderbolt so anyone can use it (amd) on usb type c verison 4

    looking up that switch it only supports 24v IN and OUT! The POE injector is a 48v POE+ 802.11af injector. You may damage that switch.

I can't get touch back working since the firmware update but the miracast over infrastructure and airplay work well. my internet lets this demo down and I have 3 different wifis going on here! (as it was a spur of the moment thing:) ) so how is your day going?

    argh? I added the appid service to auto in the GPO and it works kinda... it would seem if I wait for a minute after logging in, the rule works as expected but if I try immediately after logging in I can use the app. (and keep using it even after closing) (it stops appx applying that rule) This is not behaviour I've seen documented anywhere. Also the app is blocked for my admin user despite only applying to the "students" group. (which it is not a member of, I checked) urgh..

    ok, why with no changes has this policy stopped working? Where are the event logs and will it show me why it has stopped blocking the publisher? Grumble factor 110%!

    you've checked the pre and post image drivers for the network? I've taken to not deploying drivers with the image and allowing windows to fetch the latest.

    I ordered some monitors from stone and asked they hold the delivery until the 26th. We are so out of space here I couldn't take delivery ahead of time. I started the hardware refresh in our primary I.T. Suite as I no longer get support in the half term. We get all old PCs out, new cables and PCs in and wait for the monitors.....and wait.. and wait.. And even having over a weeks notice they fail to deliver (from 3 hours away!) They tell me at the end of my work day... Damn well the 27th I guess, well here I am the day is about to finish, my technician isn't here tomorrow and still no monitors... I should have my head checked to expect a supplier would give to figs about a customer after they get the order! I'm disappointed in myself for expecting anything other than a mess around. Now I cancelled more lessons getting from the head, the staff and a parent! yay! And I can try and lug and install them myself tomorrow when it's only me in! tldr: I asked for monitors on a certain day they didn't make it, I'm inconvenienced, I feel stupid.

    I have AM3 mobos with tiny overburdened CPU heatsinks that get the thickest, greasy dust wedged behind the puny fan, this isn't gonna cut it

    Datavac is all metal, has a long lead and quick clean filter. The three quarter horse power means it shouldn't be turned on without holding it (or it spins like a fire hose). Also that ball in my video is away from the camera and is about 4ft from the blower. Not all watts are equal Beefcake!

    That's why I would involve the parent with the solution. They may not be entirely inflexible, ask them if they're ok with the compromise or if they have a solution to the issue. if they're adamant then the problem moves to the teachers and management.

    if this were me (I don't use google) but I'd ask the parent if they were ok making a pseudo pupil and have their child use that with the google services.

    @ivantalboys says use SDS to sync teams. Slamandersoftware will produce csv files that will not only make all the classes in sims but give the teacher control of the team and add the pupils to the teams. When a year finishes SDS have a markdown tool that will archive all the previous team groups by making them read only and re-naming them (so pupil can access previous work). This is because you'll still be using the same team names (class names) as before but with new pupils. This is well worth the effort and took about 1 day for me. I did have to update SIMS to include pupils email addresses (O365 school ones) to help the sync.

    I have a box of the older UAP-AC (square) they're still associated to my controller so you'll need to reset them first. They all worked when removed but are no longer supported. You'd have to use controller V4. After that please recycle them. PM for more info.

    VLANs control broadcast traffic, so don't sweat them so much unless your network goes down in a broadcast storm (then worry) I feel your pain my new HP Probook 440 G8 (11th gen intel with AC wifi) just are having poor performance compared to our older laptops that only have wifi n. I have the HD NANOs with a Feb firmware on them. I actually get the laptops either performing much slower than they should roaming poorly and two of them declared that the wifi key was invalid until I powered the laptop down! Unifi are the devil I can afford.

    I've observed that miracast works over ethernet now. The setup: a wifi laptop connecting to a wired PC (on the same network) PC also has a wifi card but is not associated with any netoworks. The PC is using the connect app. Wifi still has to be present on both devices to establish a connection, when I open task manager (on the PC, after connection) you can see a wifi-direct has been created but no traffic passes. The network activity (on the regular ethernet) is around 5 to 10 Mbit of usage always. I'm not sure if anyone cares but there it is.

    I looked at these and they look promising. Unfortunately they don't add much value to the home and will takes years to pay themselves back. if you don't plan to move for 15 years then they'll be a cost benefit. (very rough summary with oodles of assumptions)
