I have 8 dead battery a30's as well. EDIT: These were broken out of the box btw. County didn't want to reply when I spotted issues. The parents who had the laptops were unaware the batteries were supposed to work, they thought they'd been disabled by us!

I'm wondering what to test now. Onenote seems as slow as it ever was I'm thinking the latency of this new connection is a hair slower than the old VDSL. (about 20ms vs 14)

This is for the archive... The reason my older laptops were connecting at 30hz was because usbc via the HP G5 docking stations. The docking stations are capable of running 4k60 on my G8 laptops (probook 440 g8 with iris xe) with no additional settings. The G7 laptops however require that you sacrifice USB speeds to the dock. This is called Hi-resolution mode in the BIOS. In this mode the Intel graphics based 10th gen i5 cpus can run at 4k60 via usbc and thus to the panel. This might have something to do with display stream compression but this is a total guess.

gigabit on a wired station over 900mbit woohoo (we've been 80/20) forever!. (using fast.com) Any way even on my fastest laptop sitting under an access point connected at 866/866 (according to properties) I can get at best 350mbit to the web. When I move a file from a workstation this seems to check out as it'll transfer at about 35MB/ sec. (usually 220mbit on fast.com) is this normal for wifi overheads etc? Using Unifi HD NANO. (firmware up to date)

if the program has an msi you can use published installs via GPO which is nice. Staff go to Control Panel > Get Programs and click on the one they want. edit: this is how I have staff install 4matrix and notepad ++ also some less used programs like serif page plus. I also allow staff access to the Microsoft Store.

This testing has proved very useful. I've discovered that with the Newline TVs the input panel refresh rate is half of the display refresh rate. As most of my devices connected only at 30hz the input was 15hz making handwriting all but impossible. Now I can force 60hz at 4k or reduce to 1080p60 the handwriting is vastly improved.

Updating this quote: I've discovered that the touch input refresh rate is half the display refresh rate. as many of my laptops connect at 30hz this makes the input terrible. I can now force 60hz at a lower resolution or with a PC more capable and the touch is vastly improved.

I just updated the SIMS server from 2008r2 to 2012 by accident (supposed to be 2012r2), So decided to update again to 2016 upon which I was told that it is not recommended! oh well a few issues including no remote desktop but SIMS is ok!

Some screens may have a coating that'll get upset by this, plus if the panel using infrared you may end up clogging the sensors with dry erase dust.

How does the Minecraft education licensing work. I have a teacher that want about 10 pupils to have it. anyone know the overview?

These are hire units, no joins or wall boxes. Direct from laptop to screen. (front and rear hdmi ports tested.)

@Gongalong The firmware was unprompted, I don't know why it applied one. Usually I get them through Windows update BUT you HAVE to seek additional updates and pick the firmware. maybe it's a BIOS setting to fetch updates. I only saw the end of the process so didn't even see what it was updating and can't even state that it was graphics related. Unfortunately this is the only IRIS XE laptop I have for testing, so I can't compare. I have no other devices that can drive 4k60 so testing there ends. I can say I was a direct HDMI cable an AMazon Basics high speed with ethernet cable that has 4k written on it. (but not 4k60) so the test could / should be considered invalid. I read that "high speed" HDMI means that it is NOT good enough for 4k60 only 1080p and 4k30. we need "premium high speed" for 4k60 https://www.hdmi.org/resource/cables I have yet to test the active cable that is rated 18Gbps. EDIT: The newline provided cable was only "high speed with ethernet" but the Promethean cable is "premium high speed" and that didn't work with the IRIS on initial testing. I will try it again with the active cable when opportunity allows.

My HP Probook G8 (with the IRIS) did an UNPROMPTED! Firmware update... Now the Newline TV works with 4k60 over HDMI.. The promethean almost works. (works but shingles in the image) The firmware may have been nothing to do with it and it was humidity or something. EDIT: I also used a Dell 7290 with UHD 620 Graphics. it only pushed 4k30 and worked 100% on both panels.

Not familiar with Aruba but couldn't you make a 5Ghz only SSID and try them on that.

Om, I have The promethean Nickle and the Newline Mira, BOTH will not work over HDMI and supplied cables. The IRIS graphics may be the issue or not having a cable that is good enough. The cable supplied is 3m and states 2k4k60... Knocking back to 30hz and it's fine but the laptop wants to run in 4k60... again using the USBC cable works perfectly. The promethean guy brought a number of cables NONE worked! including a USBC to HDMI cable.... I have this monster 30M active optical HDMI cable for the new hall projector, I'll give it a try tonight.. Well, 11 is on, it works... it could work. every function is running, all drivers in. I've even got it domained and policed. It has 1 super flaw... no tablet mode. (for a fing tablet!) Things like, icons are too small, windows open any size they feel like (not maximised), but the biggest issue is no fing onscreen keyboard. I'm using touch, you know I'm using touch, I click in a text box and DURRRRRRR, nothing. The solution online is to add the onscreen keyboard as a shortcut to the taskbar... So just like Windows 8 desktop mode... nice! wot a knob

Unlike other versions of Windows, 11 requires hardware changes, so it'll be until when hardware refreshes and most PCs are able to take 11.
