This happened to a much older laptop of mine and I drilled out the holes and pop riveted the thing back on. (I used washers on the other side) I also did this with a metal lidded laptop years later and did it without the washers... worked great until it was recycled.

ok, I wasted an unbelievable amount of time on this and I'm missing something!!!!! I used CCC6, the source was the 1tb mac drive the destination was the 500gb wd SSD. (the SSD was erased to apfs first) the task too 2 hours... The drive does not boot. I followed youtubes and written directions no secret steps. what gives.. the mac just starts with a question mark... to copied drives has all the files but not the same structure as the original... it should be called carbon copy copier.. as it didn't clone jack!

I can now open HEIC pictures! Time to deploy.

we've had such a hard time this year with surpass during the mock trials, that the the teacher and exam officer have decided not to offer it! EDIT: Some pupils actually got upset that the content: 1, doesn't fill the screen and / or 2, is off centre (to the left).

The HP G5 Dock I like are hard to buy right now and the price has escalated from £150 to £300... it has one native HDMI and two full size display ports. You didn't mention sound? most docks have an 3.5mm headphone audio out. anyhow a single connector solution would be nice as I have setup in some classrooms. (but for assigned laptops, not a static tablet) On a side note, I find DP to VGA far more reliable than HDMI to VGA. (as it was intended to work that way)

do this in GPO it a computer setting so you'll have to configure a group of users to block the rule (mine is students)

I also make the M$ store available, some programs are available from their or their alternatives. The bonus being that the software gets updated regularly.

have autodesk changed their licensing for schools. is there now a 125 pupil limit and teachers have to add them manually?

yes but must be supported by the chipset and graphics. I've seen the cheapest celeron support display port over usbc but have not seen any Ryzen / Vega based laptop ever support it.. So I assume that the VEGA graphics, the cpu or chipset don't natively support display port over usbc. I've not extensively searched, just never seen it supported when I was shopping. Maybe the Pro Ryzen CPUs do? (as they have extra features) IDK about Ryzen / Nvidia.

22 months of our HP G5 Docks all working. Apart from the dirt problem no issues. (non-replaceable) (16 docks, all in classrooms) I also have HP docking monitors for offices but they're new also the cable is replaceable. (but do support external monitors as well, so could work in the classroom).

I've opened a support ticket about downloading the file... lets see what is up.

That wevideo looks really good! This might be the ticket! I'll discuss with the teachers as it does alot more than just editing but the assignments, templates and stock footage! Like it does the whole course requirements in 1 website! muwhahahahhaah..

@3s-gtech is this only for Ryzen-Pro CPUs? or do they go to the expense of adding a chip for the capability to the laptop (or use external onboard graphics (not vega)) I just got some DFE laptops the Dynabook E10s-EQ this quad core celeron n4120 it has DP over USBC! 11.5" screen and it has a real SSD (sata but way better than EMMC) p.s. I've said it before but USB-C is really sensitive and mostly can be fixed with contact cleaner-- even if it looks fine. Also fussy about extensions leads. (not really selling it at this point am I)

@SpankyMo I've never seen a Ryzen laptop that offers display port over USB-C as the description states USB-C PD (power delivery), this I would take to mean NO DISPLAYPORT over USB-C. Just thought it'd be an odd choice on a topic USB-C docks wanting DP over USB-C?

The Multimedia teachers are looking at moving away from graphics to video.. They've rightly seen the issue that having 30+ pupils editing video could be too intensive on the system. The PCs in the classroom are fine, however the pupils storage is all on a DELL SAN in RAID6 that may complain under such a load. if that wasn't the issue then 30 plus pupils storing gigs of uncompressible video to be backed up will take too long or too much space. (pupils have 2gb of network storage currently.) I can increase their storage quotas but the backup windows may get quite long on days after 30+ video edits have occurred. (backup is a raid5 HP server on 1 gig link, using vranger. backing up the whole VM incrementally) BUT Pupils have massive online storage via OneDrive and we have a 1000/200 internet connection.. any cunning way this can be leveraged?
