    I have a few of these and was worried about what happens if the cable gets damaged... Well it is replaceable! And it's a standard 10 gigabit 100watt cable.. I wonder if it is locked down any by the dock but at the very least you could buy another... Who want to try an unofficial cable... maybe a 2 meter one!

    A high quality visualiser. Our teachers have the Optoma DC450 they think this has changed teaching for them. (it was just for covid originally) Art department for showing in detail what they are doing. The English department love showing what they are reading. Our English department have the docking station HDMI output go to the visualiser (which is connected to the display) with one button the teacher can switch between the laptop and the visualizer. (very simple) Our Art Department use them via USB like a webcam (using the optoma software) but could use it in teams as content from camera.     got one of these for USBC diagnostics. it can do the obvious monitor the voltage and current draw in line. BUT it can read the emarker chip on a passive cable and tell you the reported specs on a given USBC powersupply. cable test, showing that it is not a 20Gigabit cable but a 10... but it is a full 20v5a (100watt) cable that is 1m long.

    You can "enforce" a gpo this will prevent changes to it. Just to be clear is the GPO not applying? or the functionality (of the GPOs) is not as expected?

    use the "group policy results" and pick them up for the workstation that fails. (you can choose for which user) WMI and other pre requisites can stop a deployment.

    I'd suggest you buy an exactly rated fan voltage and current wise, you can go lower current of course.. I'd NOT suggest connecting two 12 volt fans in series to operate on a 24volt supply.

    SOLVED! I bought a different cable and got the same result "unqualified cable" message, a picture but unfortunately no charging or 3rd monitor... The Fix! In the monitors menu there is an option to turn off the OSD message "non-HP Cable warning"... This enables full functionality, the cable will work fully, charge your laptop, allow the camera, ethernet, picture, 3rd monitor and not show the message?!?!? This is a selection under the OSD settings! TLDR turning off the OSD message about unofficial HP cables allows normal USBC cables to work fully. (if capable)

    The USB options are still in the boot order but greyed out and you can't select them. (I'd have to dig around the BIOS to see the wording)

    I have boot from usb media disabled in the bios but it turns out if a pupil uses the old shift+reboot (windows recovery) then they can specify boot from usb . I'm thinking that the windows boot manager is allowing this to happen. (the PC has a UEFI bios) The boot order is windows boot manager then PXE, that is all. (the boot manager places itself in the boot order after a PXE image) Do I have a bugged UEFI or is this expected behaviour of the windows boot manager? EDIT: (the dvd drive was still enabled as a boot device but it is disconnected internally. Maybe a specially crafted usb stick could appear as a cd drive and this would fool the bios?) Am I wrong, I'm putting this together from CCTV footage. Also what would it take to protect the OS on the internal drive? edit2: Elitedesk 800 G1 latest bios

    This is getting tough, I bought some 2nd hand 24" docking monitors they didn't come with USBC cables. I have some 27 monitors here so I was able to test them using an official HP usbc to usbc cable. The official cable is £53! The first cables I bought did nothing!!! The second cables I did some spec hunting and settled on these 10gigabit 100Watt https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Monitor-Compatible-MacBook-Chromebook/dp/B082X93XY7/ref=sr_1_20?crid=3AZDYLU4NYXG6&keywords=usb+c+65w+cable+4k&qid=1654085586&sprefix=usb+c+65w+cable+4k%2Caps%2C45&sr=8-20 but the docking monitor states that it is an unqualified cable, the picture works as does the webcam but it won't charge the laptop... The cable stated that it supported 100w charging more than enough for the 45w laptop. The official cable does charge the laptop... Some thread on hp stated getting a 20gigabit 100watt cable.. anyone else fallen into this trap yet? Will I have to stump up £100 for official cables and worry about their cost when they get damaged or nicked!?

    I need exclusive use of the 5ghz radio for my Quest2 the thing eats wifi bandwidth (in airlink mode, 100Mbps always) and is sensitive to other devices on the spectrum. I have a separate wifi for every other device. (as the smarthub 2 cant split the wifi only turn 2.4 or 5 off, ((probably due to the stupid games they play))) Yes, I've been moved onto digital voice so the hub is mandatory... (not thrilled btw the hub needs to be powered so not an emergency phone anymore) I didn't opt in to this service, I wasn't even aware of it until troubleshooting my wi-fi. Then to wait 28 days for the grace of BT to allow me to actually turn off the built in wi-fi vexes me somewhat.

    This is a lie: These are off, you'd assume this means that the router is not longer transmitting anything right! Wrong. The router is still offering the BTWi-fi and BTWifi-X to the public. You can only disable this by opting out online and waiting 28 DAYS! FFS I hate BT right now, secretly opting you in to a service, then making it hard to stop then making it a non-user choice to turn off Wi-Fi then mislabelling and misleading the controls on the router. EDIT: What the options I've circled actually seem to do is disable the private SSID.

    I'm going nuts.. Did I dream that Teams had a whiteboard mode for the webcam that understood what a whiteboard was and would magically erase the person that was using it?

    if you are exporting from office (word) you can set a pdf password upon export. (in the options area)

    I'm not doing this, after 2 painful hours of farting around with Azure I can't get it to work. From the CC profile verification to change from a payasyougo account to a free trial account to use a free application, to the "UK isn't a valid region" while trying to create an analytics group... this can F right off. I'm not even close to getting or understanding the update for business started, I'm at side quest 6 and fed up!

    alright screenshot time, I've run a gp result on a staff laptop as a member of staff and the GPO says no but the laptop says yes! So can I not read and comprehend English? screen shot, with annoy scribbles included!

    Firmware updates have the laptop go to black screen a few times, power cycle and flash the keyboard. The potential for the end user to bork the bios through mis understanding during this process is high!
